Their facial expressions are priceless. The resigned, helpless, unhappy bride really breaks my heart. I can feel her sadness. You're definitely right. This painting is truly one of a kind. It not only shows (almost) all human emotions but also makes us feel extremely sorry for her. Thanks for another amazing video. :)
What an intriguing work!! I would have never seen that second ex-wife without you pointing it out. Those ex-wifes make this painting so much more interesting. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Haha, it also took me a while to identify the second ex-wife. She looks so much like the first one. Luckily there are very high-resolution images of this work available that allow to study the painting in great detail. Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Thanks for this commentary! The man (apparently middle-aged) second from right, looking at us: Whenever someone in a painting is looking at the viewer, often that person is expressing the painter's own opinion. Here, he is telling us, "This is a wrong thing that is happening!" As for the men behind the groom, notice that they are older men, chatting jovially: I think they are friends of the groom, maybe making jokes about how he's snagged such a young and pretty bride, oblivious to how she might be feeling. Also notice the vestment on the diminutive old priest, which seems to overwhelm and swallow him up. It's the vestment which is actually conferring the marriage. The bride and groom are not being united in love (a human emotion), but by the impersonal, loveless, legalistic Church.
Sick video. Not interested in the instagram, but I'm going to be watching all your videos from now! Thank you for showing this painting to a wider audience

It's very expressive indeed, which makes it really interesting to analyze. Glad you enjoyed it!
that painting always gives me such a sad feeling. but it’s so beautiful.
Yes, it's definitely a painting with two sides to it.

Thanks, hope you enjoy the others as well!
花嫁さん、悲しく苦しそうな表情ですね。でも美しく輝いています。困難を乗り越える決意を感じました。
Yes, it is an intriguing contrast between her dress and her body language
Really good video
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the video. What is the painting at 6:05?
That painting at 6:05 is The Little Street (c.1658) by Johannes Vermeer. It's on display in the Rijksmuseum.
This guy can really paint. However, it is a little busy, I think.
Right, there is a lot going on in this cropped composition.
This painting is really just sad to look at
I guess that's what makes it so powerful to some people.
