Hey James And The Hacksmith Team, Do You Think You Could Do A Nightwing Or Robin Project, Like A Robinarrang Or Tim Drakes Bo Staff Or Nightwings Electric Batons?
To people that just look at the batsignal from the outside it might seem kinda lame, since they think all you did was use some big light and put a shape in front of it but we underdtand the work that went into this and how difficult it is to create what you have, amazing job.
@@A_VorteX Yeah, I probably would just do a much lamer one or wouldn't even try. Doesn't change the fact that it's still lame though. I mean, I could spend ten thousand hours mastering the way of defecating (whatever that means) but mastering the way of defecating is still lame anyway.
I suspect you are not getting a crisp image because of doubling up the lens. Your large lens seems to have too long of a focal length for the tube length, hence the leds being in focus rather than the image. Get that same size lens with half the focal length and you won't need the two part lens messiness. An internal aperture can increase sharpness further if needed. It also doesn't help that your light source is so far from a point. Put it further back and it will work better. I would recommend a commercial led stadium light rather than diy. You can get a 250k lumen stadium light for around $1,200 which is what I would use if I made another one myself.
Since the video came out we added a linear actuator focusing system that solves all the problems =) It didn't make it into the video though since we were on a tight timeline -- hoping to show it off on Instagram at some point when we get the perfect cloud!

Already added electric focus :)
@@hacksmith in theory, wouldn't it be beneficial to have the LEDs on an adjustable platform to get better distance focus (LEDS would be easier to move then the large lens), and also have the smaller internal lens do the same PLUS be able to tilt which would allow for extra adjustment AND tiltshift.
no idea what the payoff to clarity might be for clouds, but would surely help on flat surfaces
Leds would be the hardest part to move! Remember the liquid cooling!
We put the batman logo and magnification on separate focusing mechanisms and now we have full control - the main lense stays fixed :)
