    To people that just look at the batsignal from the outside it might seem kinda lame, since they think all you did was use some big light and put a shape in front of it but we underdtand the work that went into this and how difficult it is to create what you have, amazing job.

  • @Nighthawkinlight
    @Nighthawkinlight 2 роки тому +1227

    I suspect you are not getting a crisp image because of doubling up the lens. Your large lens seems to have too long of a focal length for the tube length, hence the leds being in focus rather than the image. Get that same size lens with half the focal length and you won't need the two part lens messiness. An internal aperture can increase sharpness further if needed.
    It also doesn't help that your light source is so far from a point. Put it further back and it will work better. I would recommend a commercial led stadium light rather than diy. You can get a 250k lumen stadium light for around $1,200 which is what I would use if I made another one myself.

    • @hacksmith

    The sword used by jet stream Sam from metal gear rising revengeance has an interesting quick draw feature where it fires a blank at the hilt to quickly unsheathe the sword and strike an opponent. The game is old but the sword is very cool and would definitely be able to be recreated irl. I would love to see it on this channel.

    Lot's of things that could be improved (optics especially) but it's a very nice project ! Well done !
    If you ever want to modify it i'd suggest taking a look at profile projectors, lot's of things you could adapt from that (being able to change the focus by changing distance between lenses especially).
    Also, watch out for planes and such in your search for good clouds ! some people i know got yelled at by the police by using less powerful more focused beams of light that apparently "hit" a plane (nothing harmful, pilots just asked what was this light, mid day).

      @@hacksmith in theory, wouldn't it be beneficial to have the LEDs on an adjustable platform to get better distance focus (LEDS would be easier to move then the large lens), and also have the smaller internal lens do the same PLUS be able to tilt which would allow for extra adjustment AND tiltshift.
      no idea what the payoff to clarity might be for clouds, but would surely help on flat surfaces

    • @hacksmith
      @hacksmith  2 роки тому +7

      Leds would be the hardest part to move! Remember the liquid cooling!
