Wow, I'm incredibly grateful for the video! I was starting to doubt my sanity because in the past, when I downloaded car mods, I couldn't find the application file within the zip download. However, thanks to this workaround, I managed to overcome the issue and successfully download the car mods.
I've been looking at all the different cars available on unofficial sites over the years, and was never game to try them due to everyone saying 'they have viruses', just because that's what people do, repeat like parrots with no solution. Thanks for the walk-through!
Can you please confirm if saving a map with spawned items & cars still possible as all the methods shown on UA-cam from last year not working anymore. I put some containers after enabling persistence check & save the map but when i open map again, its gone. Only the items which is already there in map like light polls remain there if i move their position.
You run a higher risk of the EXE file being an infection, but I have never gotten an infection from downloading a mod regardless of which way I did it, so there’s that…🤷🏻♂️

Unfortunately, it appears that some of the mods in the site only have the application version. I have not tried unpacking the application version, so I don’t know anything about it. What mod are you trying to get? I will see if I can figure out a way to get it going.
Unfortunately, some mods aren't going to work with versions of BeamNG that were updated after the mod came out. You might be able to google search for the mod and see if another site has it, or if you feel adventurous, you can unzip the mod and poke around in the json and other config files to see if you can get it to work. I had to do that with the Tasti-Cola Holiday Truck. :-)

I'm am really tired of BeamNG getting nowhere and breaking good mods with every new release. I fixed Map Mods (the author didn't or don't care) myself or some Vehicles... but its getting frustrating. I play Snowrunner (Finished and gets Seasonal Updates and Addons) instead since a long time.
I can understand that, but Beamng is nowhere near being in final release stage. Snowrunner is a complete game. Once Beam is completed, it will be easier to dev stable mods.

Many Map Addons (A Map is no Mod) i have fixed (new assetlinks and copied from old vanilla maps in the custom map, edited and setting assets again with World Editor) because of the constant assets switches which the original beam team is too stu*pid to write a proper World Editor where this things (wrong asset links to old maps) can't happen all the time. Which would be easy to fix (custom maps folder only and if you save linked assets they will be automatically copied (and relinked) from all used vanilla maps assets (or something else) to your custom folder.) World Editor is a Editor/Map Creating Tool. The Addon Maps that the Community has builded are the driving horse for beamng, some are better than vanilla.

This is why nobody downloads mods from those sites, the setup required to get them working is way too complex, compared to 1 click on the repository
not only that but the quality of these mods are... subpar to say the least
