It is both a confession of faith (we acknowledge Jesus as Lord, Messiah, and Son of God), we confess our own sinfulness, and we ask for God to grant His mercy to us, for Him to continue to bless us and ahow His love to us and to grant us forgiveness and healing of our sins.
