- The City of San Diego says it has now delivered 213,000 green waste binsto homes. The bins are meant to collect food scraps, paper, and yard waste and other organic material. But are you using yours?
Residents told CBS 8 it’s gross.
Kevin Gunning and his family have been recycling food scraps, paper, and yard waste for compost for years. We went to their home in Rancho Penasquitos and they showed us their smooth system.

My third-world Latino, African, Vietnamese neighbors in city heights have yet to use those green bins once! Go after them!!
Plastic bags do not go in the recycling bin, they gum up the conveyer belts at the recycling/sorting facilities. Plastic bags go in the regular trash to be landfilled.
Hell no, their GROSS. He is wrong about flies and bugs around black bins becaus waste is bagged in black bins.
"Their" gross? lol "becaus" lol
@@GuyWithTheDogsLOL he must be the kid tasked with taking out the trash😂
We have been doing this for years in the uk. Stunned you don't
Compostable bags??
I'm all for the use but what about dog pop that's not picked up and all of the dog poop in the landfill. Doesn't that contribute to methane gas?
Why is it always up to the consumer? More food is wasted at farms because it is ugly. Food could be cheaper and waste lessoned if farms didn't throw away so much ugly food.
compatible trash can linners , orrrr just wash and disinfect weekly 🙄🙄🙄
We do exactly what this guy does. Easy habit to get in to
What employee is going to go through the trash bins looking for food waste? Government needs to get a reality check.

No one has to go through the garbage to know. They can just attach meters that measure gasses from food breakdown, or something similar.
@@JesgateOnDown it's way past time we stop this intrusive behavior from government. Government is meant to be for the people by the people. The people aren't supposed to be suppressed by government. Learn your rights, use your rights or lose your rights. The more people let government suppress them the more freedoms they lose. Follow the money.
Who wouldn't use those. We've been using those in WA for a long time
And San Diego continues the spiral down! I was downtown the other day and the homeless just poop on the street. How does that impact the environment, Greenies?
Destroying more trees using paper bags
Trees are renewable. Seedlings are planted every year in numbers related to the numbers of trees that are cut. I know you've heard of tree planting trabajo →#JuanGonzalez
What the heck does the city do with that garbage !!!!! Nobody has said !!!
SOYLENT GREEN ??
Maybe ??
The answer is obvious.
All I can say is meh...
they smell, they attract rodents and insects. this is disgusting.
Take it out every day or every other day. There. Was that too hard to figure out all by yourself?
Don’t be buttheads. Put food discards in compostable bags and store it in the freezer. Then discard in the green bin the night before they pick up. Your trash will never smell so good. 🎉
What> Get lost Liberal nut!
I don't have room in my freezer.
