The fish room is looking amazing, Ryo. I'm so sorry about the cichlids. I think you should use frosted white background on Mt. Anubias 2.0. I love it. And look forward to a buce tank! my favorite plant. LOVE that you have harlequin rasboras now!! A wonderful, often overlooked fish. And I too am getting into begonias. I just ordered my first one! You are doing amazingly well!
The little mini NA tank with the cystral shrimp would make a really nice Buce tank. Take out all the stems and load it up with buce species and a sand base and you'll have a really nice easy to care for little tank. For your paludarium you should consider making it for Vampire Crabs 😉Super low maintenance, and super easy to care for as well. If you do want to give it a go I'll be happy to give you a hand with any advice tips, etc. Plus it won't be very heavy or need a lot of water. Seems like the ideal option and the hardscape you have would be brilliant!
Hi Ryo! Glad to see a fish room tour at the start of the year I really like how the Madagascar Lace plant is coming along. It's one of the aquatic plants you keep that I look forward to seeing. And it's doing great in your care. It's good to see you caught those cracks in the wood early on. Sorry to hear that you had to give up the cichlids. But ultimately I think you made the right call. Overall I think the evolution of your fish room is going well and on track. Can't wait to see what else you have planned, especially the process of your IAPLC contest tank, when the results are released. Thank you for sharing all these with us. Keep doing great work. Stay awesome! :D
I have been following you for many years and I am happy to see how you continue with your hobby/work. Hard and constantly. God bless you!!!😊😊🤩 love from your fan follower from Culiacan Sinaloa Mexico🐟🐟🐠🐡🐙🌿
Hi Ryo, I would not use increased water changes in a Caridina tank. I think it would be better to wrap the tank in tin foil and give it a total blackout for four days or so. That should knock the cyano way back and improve the microbiome for the shrimp. Good luck, Chris
Whatever happened to all your dado racks? Years ago I was inspired by yours and others and have built a 3 tier dado rack myself to hold 3 20 gallon tanks.
Thank you, happy that you were inspired. Honestly, I wasn’t happy with the color I chose and I wanted to change the height of the racks. So I decided to build again and even stronger. These are tenon and mortise joint bolted together so they are pretty sturdy. I changed it just over a year ago
With livebearers, they don't so much change their genders as they camouflage themselves sometimes. Usually a male might take on the appearance of a female to escape having to compete with a more dominant male in the tank. Perhaps a female could mimic a male to avoid being harassed by overly aggressive males in the same way. I don't see why not! If one is female, you should find out in about 30-90 days, because she'd definitely give birth by then. If the second fish doesn't, it may just be that he's pretending to be a girl so that the other fish is less competitive with him.
Could also be that the lower fin on the second fish was damaged by tank mates, giving it the appearance of a male fin but now that you have them in a nice new home, it's healed and growing out and you can see it is actually a female. Hard to say! But, for sure you'll know if you start finding fry. Just be sure there are plenty of places for them to hide, just in case.

Ya the Madagascar is confusing it’s rated as medium or advanced plant yet as you demonstrated its growing in easy conditions I also grow this
Yes, it’s weird. My friend is using a light and is unable to grow it.. I don’t understand 😅
