@@rxg9er I believe the only _confirmed_ hero being a descendant of another hero is the Hero of Twilight being the Hero of Time's descendant.
Link's cycle works different from Zelda's. Zelda's is mostly hereditary, while Link's is just straight-up reincarnation.
Also the hero of legend is the old man in link between worlds.

About Link dying at the end of LA, I think it's heavily implied that Gramps from ALBW is the Hero of Legend. He wields every item Link wields, including the Golden Master Sword, has 20 hearts and his nickname is "Legendary".
Even if ALBW is ages in the future, we already seen people who should've died, but was alive for a long time. Maybe he's alive by influence of the goddesses, since the Hero of Legend had the 3 triforce virtues and even wieldedthe full triforce in his hand, as seen in the Oracle games (going by Hyrule Historia's timeline) before they split it.
I don't know for sure, it's just a silly theory, but since he's my favorite Link, it's my headcanon.

I'm pretty sure Link survived. That was just an idea I had to throw out there. I like the idea of him being in ALBW, but I think alot more time passed between those games.

In the original colorless version of the game for the gameboy, we actually don't see a seagull, but a winged, angel-like version of Marin in the perfect ending.

Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass could very well be the best games in the series, and I would never know that, because the abysmal touch screen controls prevent me from getting too far into them.

I was definitely NOT emotionally prepared for the ending of Link’s Awakening when I was 8, even though several characters and inscriptions flat-out tell you what will happen halfway through the game. Such a bittersweet and poignant ending, and I hope we see more like it in the Zelda series.
All that has to be done after Link's Awakening in order for Marin to be with Link is for him to make it back to Hyrule and make a wish on the Triforce. He could either simply wish for Marin to be restored to her human form from her seagull form, or even grander, wish for Koholint Island to be restored to its full existence (minus all its monsters) and with the advent of allowing its people come and go from the island as the please, establishing diplomatic relations between the island and the outside world (Hyrule in particular). The latter would not only restore Marin but also allow her to both be with Link and to go back to the island to visit her father whenever she wants.

The hero of seasons goes through link to the past, the oracle games, and links awakening, then disappeared, leaving another opportunity for ganon to awaken again, who then kidnaps the princess and turns hyrule into a wasteland, witch is the first game.

Link's Awakening legit made me cry when I first played the remake. Such a sad tale with such amusing personality. I hope we get such emotions in botw 2.
One thing I heard was in the Link's Awakening Manga, its said once Link found out about the whole dream he gave up on adventuring. He spent his days in the village with Marin who might have been told about the dream thing, but only when the island became infested with nightmares did Link cry knowing he had to wake the Wind Fish.
So link has a thing for red heads and blondes....hey no complaints I can agree to that😌🤷🏽♂️

That could be a good point. Marin's sprite in Link's Awakening DX could appear similar to Zelda's from the Oracle games, but those games came out about 10 years after Link's Awakening. However I don't think the order of the release should be taken into account for interpreting lore so I think you actually make a good point. If the oracle series does truly occur between alttp and LA, then Zelda's sprite would look similar to Marin's. Though Zelda was always intended to be blonde in alttp and Marin was a redhead since the concept artwork
@@Zeldom If I remember correctly, the game manual for the original Link's Awakening even describes Marin as resembling Zelda... even though it's next to a picture of the same redhead Marin we've always known and loved.

Link's Awakening was most certainly the darkest & saddest of all the Zelda games. It's always been one of my absolute favorites.
This video gave me some crazy head canon idea:
As much as we dislike it, most Link do not end up with Zelda. They end up with the simple farmer girl. Even if it's a different incarnation of link each time, it's still one immortal hero soul.
My crazy theory is that Link soul still care for Zelda, but he got tried of the politics of the royal family. He lives a normal life because he cares for the average person, and that what inspires him to be a hero. Zelda felt this change and became more platonic with him.
Botw works because she hates being a princess.
Spirt Tracks works because WW Tetra was a wild and free pirate. So he decided to give Zelda another chance in that timeline.
Now picturing: Seagull Marin going from place to place singing, "And I flew, I flew so far away-ee-ayy..."
Awakening DX was the first video game I ever played, even on the GBC the song felt beautiful. Seeing the song had lyrics and meaning has made for a truly otherworldly experience. Unlocking the secret spot photo during my first time playing really holds much deeper to me now. Thanks for the video Zeldom :')
I played the game not expecting to enjoy it as much since it was so old, but Link's Awakening and A Link To The Past really impressed me and I enjoy them alot. Heck I didn't even expect to have a few emotional moments in Link's Awakening but it's amazing!
@@Zeldom I had the same expectation going back to play Alttp, couldn't grasp it as a child, but it was definitely worth playing again. People are always surprised when I say Awakening is my favorite Zelda game, so I couldn't agree more at how great it is!
It's interesting how Malon/Marin (pretty much the same character) is usually the biggest contender besides Zelda in the games she's in. She even won fair and square in OOT/MM.
You missed someone Rosa from oracle of seasons she has the master key that you need to get summer. It is similar to what you did with Marin. Some people are even jealous of Link
If i remember correctly, she rejects Link (implied) if you play Seasons and then Ages. She's helps you in the past (she also time travels) on the island were you get your items stolen. She becomes a strong independent woman
If I remember right in A link between Worlds one of the guards mentions that the Link and Zelda from a Link to the Past had a relationship (intimate) and that Zelda would stare at the painting of the Hero and Zelda and the sages that is in the Castle

@@Zeldom Ah the old fear and flaw of licensing. Still it is a bit of a miss since the Oracles were interesting characters that really could have used more limelight.
Considering how faithful they were to the original with the Links Awakening remake, I wouldn't be against that.

Do remember that Nintendo has every right to remake Oracle of Ages/Seasons as they hold the IP, Capcom, by way of their defunct subsidiary “Flagship”, was only licensed to create the two (originally three) games, (as well as Four Swords and The Minish Cap).

I know this video is 2 years old and you've probably heard this but it's implied that the Link from a Link to the Past is the old man that let you fight Dark Link in A Link Between Worlds. Just thought i would throw that out there.
As many have pointed out before and after watching all of your Link's loves videos... definitely Link has a thing for redheads with an M (and viceversa): Malon, Midna, Marin and Mipha

I love how in a game franchise where Zelda is the titular character and Link is always the main protagonist, the Link ships that make the most sense are either with someone who isn't Zelda or with Zelda when she doesn't act like a normal princess. Methinks Link's tastes in women are passed on through reincarnation.
I’m pretty sure Marin actually got turned into an actual seagull at the end of Link’s Awakening by the Windfish. It was said that she was singing to where it slept, either directly stated or implied that she wished to it, and the ending cutscene had huge implications. Even if this is not the case, I’m going to head canon it, for it makes me think of Sokka and Yue!

Even though we know now it’s different timelines, when I was a kid I liked to think Link & Aryll’s affinity with Seagulls was a direct byproduct of Marin’s legacy in universe, that they were still connected. It always made me so sad knowing their fate. Still kinda does today

I remember when I beat Links Awakening EX on the virtual console for 3ds. The emotion in it almost hit me as hard as Majora's Mask.
I think I am starting to see a pattern in Link’s non-Zelda love interests. There is a clear history of redheads/red fish. Man after my own heart (except the fish thing)

who's to say what is real and what is not, reality might be a dream while a dream is reality. Marin looks like the closest love Link ever experienced, wich is not a dream, but for him reality and he'll carry her in his heart forever.. damn that soung was so nice and beatifull,
ALTTP is the main one who's Mangas I like to read, and they are interesting. The Akira Himekawa one has me shipping a Threesome between Link, Zelda and Ganti.
I haven't read the ALTTP Manga but I didn't read the overall plot. Ganti seemed like and interesting addition to the story

A Link Between Worlds appears to favor Link and Zelda if the murals detailing A Link to the Past are any clue.
Possibly, but ALBW does take place many ages after ALTTP so who knows how accurate those are
Yeah. Though considering Zelda is in possession of the Pendant of Courage, I wonder if the Link from A Link to the Past gave it to her ancestor before he went on his journey in Link’s Awakening. (I’m in the mindset that Link’s Awakening is a direct sequel to A Link to the Past and the Oracle games are kind of an oddball with them featuring characters from Ocarina of Time.)

I’d think they’d fit better some time after A Link Between Worlds and Tri Force Heroes and before The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link. Four Swords Adventures, however, due to poor story writing, is full of continuity issues.

Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I owned and beat. I was born to a home where music was never far as my dad plays the piano. Later, I would learn to play the trumpet and the guitar. Anyway, I was always enraptured by the Ballad of the Windfish from an early age, and it continues to be my favorite song from the franchise. However, I didn't know they had made lyrics. That brought many tears to my eyes.
I played Oracle of Seasons before I played Link's Awakening. Therefore, the "Marin follows you around" section reminded me near-perfectly of the literal date with the pink Subrosian idol-singer.
And it's the single reason I will never put "Link's Awakening" back into my GBC.
I honestly think that this is another scenario where Zelda and Link are the best together but had Marin existed in Link's reality she would win by a landslide. also I always thought it went in the order of A link to the past, Link's awakening, and the Oracle games. because the beginning of the oracle games shows him riding a horse back to hyrule castle, he made the journey home after being shipwrecked only for the events of the game to take place.
I finished Breath of the Wild and have started working my way backwards in the series, so I'm glad there's still such awesome content coming out about all of them!

It's been years but I've seen people say that these lines from Zelda are incorrectly translated, and Zelda and Link are already supposed to know each other. It's not an introduction.
I can't be 100 percent certain though. I don't have the japanese text, and even if I did I couldn't read it.
A link to the past Link is probably the old man in a link between worlds so if true he definitely survived his shipwrecking in Link's awakening.

Link was in love with Zelda but it wasn't mutual or it was forbidden. Marin was how Link dreamed Zelda to be if she was a normal girl and not royalty. The whole thing about Link traveling to hone his skills sounds like he was trying to gain reputation.
When these games were created the "Zelda traditions" had not been stablished, and so there was no reason to assume Link had some special status in Hyrule, even if he saved the princess he was a commoner and would not be a candidate for Zelda.
Saving the princess and marrying her is an expectation created by pop culture, characters in a fantasy world don't necessarily think like that.

Idk if someone else commented this but there's mangas on most if not all the legend of Zelda games. It might not be a one to one adaptation but in the one for link to the past it was mentioned that links family and Zelda's were related and they were cousins I believe.

Hey. Can you explain how the sheikah turned from an almost extinct dark magic tribe, to blue and orange technology thriving tribe. If not from a lore perspective, it would be interesting to see how the aesthetic of the Zelda series has changed over the years.
That has been something that has confused me as well. I'll have to look into it bc it's a very important question and I don't want to come up with a half-assed theory.

Sheikah technology is not even "lolscience", it's almost magic, specially with the runes. it's even powered by a magic blue fire and data is transfered via a miraculous liquid.
I haven't played the remake, but Awakening was my first Zelda game. Didn't know the remake had lyrics, but now I do. And now I have feels.

Well there is a theory that the old man in LBW is the link from Alttp LA and the oracles especially since hes also a left handed fighter so it's certainly possible he came back but since he dosent appear to be from the palace he may not have gotten with zelda

I just want to point out that the games featuring a previous link on the current timeline are all in a lighter colored box than the ones featuring a new Link. Oracle of Ages and Seasons still have the hero of legend as a protagonist. If you carefully examine the new timeline you can see that Link simply wakes the wind fish before going to save the oracles now. It is still the same guy.
I've. . . seen the page these are on and that's incorrect. The lighter colors are games taking place outside of Hyrule, which coincidentally do happen to usually be sequels featuring the same Link
The real indicator that it's the same Link is the space between the games. Go back to 1:26 and you'll notice there's less space between A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening than there is between Link's Awakening and the Oracle games.

The Hero of Legend and The Hero of the Essences of Time and Nature (man I love that hero title) are different Links. That becomes apparent in the Oracle games when he's told that he _might_ be a hero, because of the mark on his hand, and even more so when Zelda doesn't seem to know him.
That said, The Link in Link's awakening could be either one. I don't think it matters.
Lol and see this is exactly why I structured the video to give two different conclusions, because I've had 3 different opinions in these comments on the timeline for these😂

I figured that regardless of putting Link’s Awakening before the Oracle Games that that was the same Link and he found his way to Holodrum and Labrynna after so long on the sea.

Uh-oh, now Link has two pretty girls competing for his affection who are in the same place at the same time. Watch out Link! In all seriousness though, I understand what was said at the end of the video about Zelda being the more realistic ship for Link in the Oracle games.
ALTTP Zelink is confirmed by A Link Between Worlds where you can find a painting that depicts "A long distant past Hero and Princess cuddling in each other's arms".

In A link to the past, Link awakens in what is called his house later in the game after his Uncle's death when choosing a spawn location and his Uncle presumably lives with him. The Hyrulian Royal Family at this point in the timeline is severely depleted in scale, the previous Link (OoT) failed in the final fight and probably died. The knights of Hyrule were all but wiped out, Hylians become nearly extinct. OoT link was probably of the knight line but unless he had some out of marriage fun with Malon he has no descendants so the new Link are probably from another branch of the Hero lineage.
Still considering the nearby Village of Kakariko and no castle town, probably out of security reasons. There would be no reason for a retired Knight and his Nephew to live just outside of the Castle instead of in the Barracks or Village.
The location of their home suggests that the Uncle was previously an important figure in the Knights, something like Knight Captain or King's guard comes to mind and in many cultures those positions were only held by the second highest level of Royalty when they were not landed, which Hyrule doesn't seem to be strong enough to have too much land at that point in the timeline.
The way Zelda speaks to Link in the game doesn't appear to indicate friendship or love and the fact that she contacted both him and his Uncle seems to indicate that it was a general cry for help but it could be that she was specifically targeting the house, knowing that members of the hero lineage were there and the "she is your..." is probably either Betrothed or liege. Neither of these mandate that they know each other previously or have any feelings for each other. The hero/knight lineage in general is probably high nobles but martially trained due to the nature of why they are nobles.
So there is probably romance there, AFTER marriage.
