Paint this artwork last week. Another background art painting using only Photoshop default round brush with some adjustment. A happy little tree on a grassfield with big cumulus cloud on the sky.

Very useful tutorial - I like the soft shading with subtle details. I find myself coming back to this tutorial when I need to shade vegetation and such. The trunk is especially detailed.

You can use "preserve / protect transparency" option or clipping mask so you doesnt paint the "outside" area

Normal circle brush with alot of optimizing in the brush presets mainly scattering, size jitter, and opacity jitter i suppose

Are you using the smoothing function on the round brush as you paint? Or the mixer brush? I can't seem to get that smooth and soft a look with the mixer brush whenever I use it, but then I'm still trying to learn the program.
