Come on Mike the MMC Inferno/Hoist have the crane hanging off the back of them. The Takara might be more expensive, but the transformation to get that in their chest makes a a better looking figure 😊
Too Many Lies yeah I get that, but I couldn’t look past the Takara. That being said, I’ve done exactly the same on the Sideswipe and gone with the Takara + and the badcube red alert.
Yes there are good points about both Takara and MMC but I do like the Aesthetic break up on the shelf. I also like the hips on MMC more than Takara even though Takara is more Toon accurate there is some personal preference there. Great point! Thanks
I totally understand people wanting toon accuracy, but isn't the only difference just less paint and detail on the pluses? Maybe a different color window? For my personal collection I like the older versions WITH reprolabels for even more color and detail. I just feel like if it didn't add to time and cost of animating that the animaters would have added much more color and detail. But they were under time and budget restraints to get it done so the characters are very plain. This is just my personal opinion obviously, to each his own.😉
Just one suggestion: the Sideswipe G1 character model had a very small chest and more heroic proportions. Red Alert's character model had a larger chest and more toy proportions. I feel like the closer match is to go BadCube Sideswipe and Takara Red Alert. If you go that way you end up with something closer to this: tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Character_models.png No wrong answers, but that is the reason I went that way.
the best non arcee is flame toys nicee i like my fembots actually with female form and both modes are beautiful that is hard to pull off and they deserve more recognition and less talk about the sexualization.
I liked your recommendation on Bad Cube's Red Alert. I think variation on these characters especially when they're really well done by a third party is a great choice. It also is more fun if you occasionally transform them to have the steps be completely unique. I like MMC's Arcee the best.
As always, much appreciated compilation. I’d have loved to had something similar when I waded into the waters around 2016/2017. The forums are great, but can be a bit byzantine to navigate, if not just intimidating to a new/novice collector. The community of TF creators on UA-cam are doing the Lord’s Work as my mother would say, as far as I’m concerned. Be it reviews, transformation tutorials, histories of the lines, lore…you guys hold it down pretty damn well, and I look forward to your videos and they have helped shape my collection it’s absolutely safe to say. I’d love to see a video on the engineering. What toys are your favorite to transform? Which ones use clever or novel transformation schemes? There doesn’t seem to be many videos about that, if any. The journey from mode to mode is a huge part of a toy’s appeal, and a video on the evolution of how that’s accomplished and what makes a transformation delightful or painful would be something I’d def. spend some time watching. Anyhow….thanks again brother!
Something about the shades of red, blue, light grey they used on the+ go so well together while on the original they all clash like a huge mess even before adding the logos that make it look more like a mess. Mp19 was a good toy accurate MP but the plus is perfect!!
Bad Cube side swipe has a lot of changes from red alert though and the key is his more slimmed chest through transformation, accurate legs, arms, and opening doors, hood and headlights like sun streaker.
Xtb is best for Trailbreaker and Hoist, but the Hoist is the outstanding one. If you wanted these guys from different companies, the second best Trailbreaker (I would say they are almost a tie) is Badcube. Mmc is a distant third.
TW Bii will always be my G1 Bumblebee. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with MMC Arcee, but she might be a little small for your taste. Great list!
Gigapower hands down, all day long, bigger, better made, better joints, painted, totally worth the money, I’ll had the fans toys and each of them with the exception of Grimlock was a floppy fucking mess, metal tarnished. No question, if you’re in the market for Dinobots, Gigapower superior, Fanstoys inferior.

6.10 Tracks. Had it and immediately sold it without touching it. They make a plus version of this or something better it’ll be worth the wait. I would never buy that ‘as is’ again.

Gigapower blows Fanstoys out the water. Gigapower has three version. Toy/toon/ and x with the weathering. I have all the Gigapowers plus Fanstoys swoop has that breakage problem.

Don't be afraid to pull the pin out of Toro, I did and you can still transform him and put the backpack back on car mode (much like the Earthrise Cliff) and he looks way better!
I remember seeing Generations Metroplex at Costco for less than $100. I passed on it then. Still haven't got one and it's going for way too much now. I'm hoping TakaraTomy will reissue it someday or someone else will make an MP version. I got Utopia but it's a shame he's not bigger and that no one made an upscaled version.
Have the Voodoo Robots Ironhide and Ratchet. both replaced the Takara/Hasbro. now the official are in car mode. Utopia is a good metroplex. its beautiful, but small.

I did take a few pics ..if there is a way to send them. also to anyone interested in the Voodoo Ratchet. there is a guy on Kijiji ( a Canadian craigslist type site ) who is selling a ratchet. I bought mine off him. a really good price. he was also a good seller

I didn't know some KOs were of a better quality than the originals. I always imagined that they would be cheaper copies, both in price and quality. I might start looking at some of those...
These days KO companies make improvements to draw interest and sell their figures. The KO runs are just massive compared to official and that is how I think they keep the price low! Thanks
Great video - a couple of potential deals out there. For Power Glide, there's a good KO, made by Age of Deformation (A.O.D), currently going for between £55 - £60, compared to £90 for DX9 Richthofen. I managed to luck out last year and get teh A.O.D version for £15. For Grapple and Inferno, you have the MMC versions, very stylised, but look good on the shelf, and last year they were both going for £40. Also for Monsterbots, you have fantastic options from Fans Hobby.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 so far I've been impressed. I've got their Flypro (their take on Grotuqsue). Great materials, sculpt and articulation isn't too bad for a big bot. They do have a stylised look, (maybe more of an IDW aesthetic), but I feel the Monsterbots lend themselves to a stylised look, kinda like the Predacons.
i did somthing abit unique with my ratchet and ironhide i got an tfc ironwill due to it looking more buff whereas i got ratchet due to the face looking softer
I dunno i think a lot of people are pinning there hopes on ko mp44 a little bit too much, yes some issues will be allegedly fixed thats not to say this figure wont have issues own set of issues, maybe issues that are much worse, after all it is a KO and lets be honest will the guys koing this thing really care about those issues or will they be looking to make a fast buck, i feel it's more the later because after all it is a KO, i think it's best to wait and see the quality before picking your prime i mean after all one ko that stands out having wildy different results was sunstreaker
There have been multiple KOs for a majority of MPs, and a lot of them have been better or at least on the same par. We should still be cautious, but I think there’s evidence to support the KO being good.
Well if MP36 is any indicator of MP44 KOs this first one out of the gate will be OK and there will be many more from THF, IT, Magten and others to all try to one up each other. SOOO if this one is a dud there may be more. Thanks

2mins in, seeing the side by side Wheeljacks really drives the point home for me that I hate the mp turn away from real-world aesthetics. The plus version looks like trash to me, glad I never let the hype suck me into buying any of them.
I tried to cut out as much as I could to make it a bit shorter and it was not a perfect As I wanted it but after 6 hours I just let it ride. The Decepticon one will be shorter and easier to edit. Thanks
This is the first time I've heard someone say that MMC Hoist/Trailbreaker feels cheap. I hated that figure and ebayed it almost immediately after opening it.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Yeah, I really like the way they made the torso taper to the hips. But not only does it feel bad, you have to take the nozzle off the wrist to transform it and it was really fiddly to remove!
I don't think any of the plus variants were KO'd. I recently got the MP17 Prowl KO, and I like it. It's almost as cool as my Infinite Transformation Megatron KO. I'll definitely hunt down Bluestreak & Smokescreen; would've preferred the MP18+ for Bluestreak, but the KO will do. And the KO will definitely suffice for Smokescreen. I don't see how anyone could like the face of the MP19+ version, it looks like a crackhead. Them Datsuns are like Seekers...you get one, you gotta hope you can get the rest. No love for the Maketoys Inferno & Grapple!? 😆🤣 Meanwhile, I came across one eBay seller who had both the Inferno & Grapple KOs...I wanna ask the seller how I can get both, because the way it's set up, you can pick one or the other. Citybots...again, no love for Maketoys!? Their Metroplex, "Utopia", got a repaint as "Dystopia" aka Metrotitan. And their Scorponok (and Black Zarak repaint) is pretty nice, too. They're both pricey at about $300 a pop, but that's still likely cheaper than whatever FansToys will do. (And the city mode of their Metroplex takes a huge dump all over Hasbro's) Hot Rod...I'm good with my MP40 Targetmaster Hot Rod. As for Rodimus, I'm glad you like the Hasbro version. Me personally, I couldn't get into the awkward colors they used...especially *blue* headlights that should be _orange_!! I held off on the old Classics one until the Reveal the Shield "Battle in Space" came out for the exact same reason. Besides, I really want the gorgeous MP09B Black Rodimus Convoy. It's a color scheme more in line with Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime/RiD01 Scourge (black & teal)...not that Hasbro's Shattered Glass Hot Rod/Rodimus Unicronus color scheme is bad (black & purple), but the black and teal just speaks to me way more.
Another excellent video Mike. There are many knock-off Wheeljack Masterpiece out there. I went to go buy an official one on eBay just a couple months ago. I purchased it. It came from China. And it's a knockoff. It was not advertised as one. And I did not know that it was. I had to go through eBay support to get my money back. I think it's a disgrace when people sell knockoffs and do not tell people they are knockoffs. I have to admit it's a great copy, but I'm not looking for that. The Takara Tomy box and everything were ripped off and copied.
Yes the early Wheeljack and Sideswipes were perfect 1 to 1 copies and I can not even tell the difference. That era of KO brought on the Takasa Tony mark on the boxes to differentiate but there is still lots of old stock out there. Thanks for sharing

The MMC cassettes will look fantastic but my reservation remains that they're too big. If they're going to be the same scale as the Decepticon cassettes, then Eject and Rewind are going to be taller than Wheelie (Xtransbots Ollie) and as tall as Bumblebee. In other words, too tall.
Yes that was my hang up on the MMC tapes at first but in hand they seem to work. The show actually depicts Rumble about the same size as humans but scale was not the strong point of G1. Great point! Thanks

The + version of Smokescreen is hands down my favorite +. Better paint as well as face sculpt. Needs to be seen in hand I think

3mins: I definitely agree that mixing molds is the way to go for any characters that were recolors in g1. Grapple/Inferno etc.

2mins in, seeing the side by side Wheeljacks really drives the point home for me that I hate the mp turn away from real-world aesthetics. The plus version looks like trash to me, glad I never let the hype suck me into buying any of them.
I really like this video but for some reason a few times words just cut off and it moves to something else. Is there an issue with the video?
I tried to cut out as much as I could to make it a bit shorter and it was not a perfect As I wanted it but after 6 hours I just let it ride. The Decepticon one will be shorter and easier to edit. Thanks

This is the first time I've heard someone say that MMC Hoist/Trailbreaker feels cheap. I hated that figure and ebayed it almost immediately after opening it.

@@tydiriumhanger1320 Yeah, I really like the way they made the torso taper to the hips. But not only does it feel bad, you have to take the nozzle off the wrist to transform it and it was really fiddly to remove!
I don't think any of the plus variants were KO'd. I recently got the MP17 Prowl KO, and I like it. It's almost as cool as my Infinite Transformation Megatron KO. I'll definitely hunt down Bluestreak & Smokescreen; would've preferred the MP18+ for Bluestreak, but the KO will do. And the KO will definitely suffice for Smokescreen. I don't see how anyone could like the face of the MP19+ version, it looks like a crackhead. Them Datsuns are like Seekers...you get one, you gotta hope you can get the rest.
No love for the Maketoys Inferno & Grapple!? 😆🤣 Meanwhile, I came across one eBay seller who had both the Inferno & Grapple KOs...I wanna ask the seller how I can get both, because the way it's set up, you can pick one or the other.
Citybots...again, no love for Maketoys!? Their Metroplex, "Utopia", got a repaint as "Dystopia" aka Metrotitan. And their Scorponok (and Black Zarak repaint) is pretty nice, too. They're both pricey at about $300 a pop, but that's still likely cheaper than whatever FansToys will do. (And the city mode of their Metroplex takes a huge dump all over Hasbro's)
Hot Rod...I'm good with my MP40 Targetmaster Hot Rod. As for Rodimus, I'm glad you like the Hasbro version. Me personally, I couldn't get into the awkward colors they used...especially *blue* headlights that should be _orange_!! I held off on the old Classics one until the Reveal the Shield "Battle in Space" came out for the exact same reason. Besides, I really want the gorgeous MP09B Black Rodimus Convoy. It's a color scheme more in line with Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime/RiD01 Scourge (black & teal)...not that Hasbro's Shattered Glass Hot Rod/Rodimus Unicronus color scheme is bad (black & purple), but the black and teal just speaks to me way more.

Another excellent video Mike. There are many knock-off Wheeljack Masterpiece out there. I went to go buy an official one on eBay just a couple months ago. I purchased it. It came from China. And it's a knockoff. It was not advertised as one. And I did not know that it was. I had to go through eBay support to get my money back. I think it's a disgrace when people sell knockoffs and do not tell people they are knockoffs. I have to admit it's a great copy, but I'm not looking for that. The Takara Tomy box and everything were ripped off and copied.
Yes the early Wheeljack and Sideswipes were perfect 1 to 1 copies and I can not even tell the difference. That era of KO brought on the Takasa Tony mark on the boxes to differentiate but there is still lots of old stock out there. Thanks for sharing

The MMC cassettes will look fantastic but my reservation remains that they're too big. If they're going to be the same scale as the Decepticon cassettes, then Eject and Rewind are going to be taller than Wheelie (Xtransbots Ollie) and as tall as Bumblebee. In other words, too tall.
Yes that was my hang up on the MMC tapes at first but in hand they seem to work. The show actually depicts Rumble about the same size as humans but scale was not the strong point of G1. Great point! Thanks
