Ric Flair and Mick Foley having a blood-bath "last man standing" match on regular TV (NON main event, 30 minutes into the show) might be the most TNA thing I've ever heard.
Ironically, the best thing that came out of Mick's TNA run was that it literally is what led to his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Mick has admitted that WWE (all on its own accord) promoting his 2010 book Countdown to Lockdown on WWE programming while he was still with TNA is what made Foley decide that whenever he'd eventually be asked to be inducted he'd accept, as prior to that he was thinking he'd always decline since he still harbored bad feelings from how his last run ended.

Ashamed to say that when I was a kid just barely discovering wrestling... this is how I was introduced to Mick Foley. I saw him pop up on the screen, fans started cheering and I was like, "Uh..."
But I have one question: Why did Mick Foley refer to Abyss as Chris? Do the fans know about Abyss' real name being Chris Park? Did Russo tell Foley to say Abyss' real name? If you're gonna mention a masked wrestler by name, I feel that you should only call them by their wrestler's name and not their real name.

One week later I met him at a book signing at the one Barnes and Noble with a Chik fil A in front of it that I know of in the Orlando area, wearing a WWE Kurt Angle T-shirt, and I have no idea how it came up but my sister said something like "Kurt Angle _should_ retire" and I recall seeing a flash of a dirty or confused look from Mick, and it was afterwards that it hit me that he might have been thinking, "If you think that KURT should retire, does that mean _I_ should _be_ retired?" I thought his run was fun. He put in a lot of work into everything during that time. The passion in those promos against flair and sting. His weight loss. He didn't have to put in that much effort, especially for a low level watched show, but he worked his ass off. I think it was a success and countdown to lockdown, while not on par with the first two (hardcore diaries is different stylistically), was a fun read. Kudos to Foley for his TNA run.
Ashamed to say that when I was a kid just barely discovering wrestling... this is how I was introduced to Mick Foley. I saw him pop up on the screen, fans started cheering and I was like, "Uh..."
His rivalry with Abyss is always my favorite from his run in TNA. "It was YOU, Chris!" lives rent free in my head
@@ricardonb6375 Years before Mick came into TNA, back when Abyss had Father James Mitchell as his manager (and during the time James was abusing Abyss), James would be the one to reveal that his real name was Chris Park, and that James was his father
@@vanillabeam5400 Forgot about that moment
His TNA run was actually one of my favorite memories. He was hilarious as champion. Acting like the the title was his baby. Loved his surprise win against Sting. Especially in a cage match. So props for that. God I miss TNA. And no, it's not still around. Just in name. Also him and JB were comedy gold. I still remember his odd references to Tori Amos
I've heard that Foley himself talked Daffney into doing that barbed wire spot (which gave her a concussion and attributed to her multiple injuries later on). I don't know how much of him talking to her is true or not but if so, it's definitely a hypocritical skeleton in his closet given Daffney's death and Foley posting a tribute to her after her passing.
It was more of Russo's fault than Foley's fault.
@@ricardonb6375no, it's actually Mick Foley's Fault. The barbed wire board was his idea. And Vince Russo & Terry Taylor helped Mick Foley to make it happen.
RC99_Productions you are right 💯
I remember seeing that Rocky Balboa cutout clip on UA-cam as a kid, and even then, I was confused as hell.
I was at a TNA house show in Amsterdam, NY where Foley didn't show up till the end. Apparently there was a big argument between backstage involving Mick and I believe was gone shortly afterwards.
Mick Foley may not live long, but he will live forever!
Given what hes done to his own brain he's already lived longer then most. And didnt murder his own family either.
@@scottaznavourian3720Mick has went through possibly the most head trauma/bodily harm in the history of sports (let alone wrestling) and is still one of the most amazing and universally loved people ever with no real controversies ever
@@scottaznavourian3720 That's why I don't buy it was CTE.
Foley copped 11 chair shots to the head by the Rock at RR 99 yet doesn't murder his family.
CTE is just an excuse to excuse bad behaviour by sports people, and an excuse to sue.
Finishing 'Hardcore Diaries' the same day as Lockdown 09 was quite the experience
I remembered Mick Foley's Run in TNA
20:43 LMFAO that was cold 🤣
He literaly left his ear in germany! Du bist die geilste Sau von allen Mick ! ! ! Luv U 2 💀
I think it's still Mick Foley's last one on one match ever, that one with Ric Flair. One week later I met him at a book signing at the one Barnes and Noble with a Chik fil A in front of it that I know of in the Orlando area, wearing a WWE Kurt Angle T-shirt, and I have no idea how it came up but my sister said something like "Kurt Angle _should_ retire" and I recall seeing a flash of a dirty or confused look from Mick, and it was afterwards that it hit me that he might have been thinking, "If you think that KURT should retire, does that mean _I_ should _be_ retired?" I think I said "well at least we should never see him for free anymore". Anyway I know Mick had tag matches and Royal Rumble appearances after that but then the doctors outright refused to clear him ever again so that was that.
Great video as always Brian
Mick Foley and Sting working together again awesome seeing it
Brian... was that the "special sock" ? another awesome vid my dude. have a nice day.
I initially was excited to see Mick Foley in TNA as a way to help put over the young stars. Unfortunately, they really had no clue what to do with him with the constant face and heel turns. When he won the championship against Sting, that was the moment I started to mentally tune him out. He could barely walk let alone wrestle.
