Couldn't agree more with the comment about not needing to carry the latest phone. I rocked my iPhone XR up until mid last year and bought my mother-in-laws iPhone 12 Pro from her for $200. I don't see any value upgrading every year, but that's just my opinion.
Just recently found your channel and finished watching the vast majority of your backlog of videos, and I just wanted to share that I have really enjoyed your content. As an HRIS analyst professional, I have found a lot of value in the items you review and contrasts. Hope your channel keeps growing!
Except you skipped the part about how in probably 99% of the world for 99% of the problems you could find yourself in the cash you can get from selling the Rolex is gonna get you out and home safe. It’s like a global insurance policy. 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️
... true, if it doesn't get stolen first. Big problem traveling these days with nice watches.
Recently discovered premium pens…what a rabbit hole to go down!
It’s a really fun hobby, I think of them as little vessels that carry your ideas, all you have to do is put them to paper to release them. Just know your limits when it comes to purchasing and they’ll always hold their charm.
Expensive rabbit hole at that. But rewarding.
I have small Inkosi (slightly shorter but more stout version of small Sebenza) and had the same feeling towards its action. However, the action saw quite a drastic improvement after disassembling it and applied a silicon grease to the divots of its bronze washers. It is not to the extent of the actions of ball bearing pivots like the presented Vosteed Corgi, but a clear difference. Low viscosity lubricants does not work well with washers but high viscosity lubricants like the silicon grease work well. You can sell the Sebenza at any time but I think it is worth trying.
Think you’ve got it spot on there, EDC isn’t about carrying the latest or most expensive gear or carrying stuff because it’s in vogue and that’s what everyone else is carrying. It’s about curating a set of pieces that are meaningful to you and that you enjoy carrying or using, some stuff might be premium and very sentimental others might be budget because they do a great job and you like them 👍
You get it. 💪🏼
Civivi knives are the best bang for your buck budget knives. You can’t go wrong with anything in their product line.
advice on the CRK. Don't sell it, use it every day. Play with it until the bearing and blade starts to ''match'' in the beginning I also didn't like my Sebenza but at this stage I own 14 CRK's. The Sebenza needs a braking in period, Its not a knife on bearing and never will be. its not intended to be a low drag high speed tactical knife ish knife. no its a simple tool made very good
That’s good advice. I’m going to give it a year.
I've owned kaweko pens for a long time. They're really good in terms of ink, writing experience, etc. where they really fall short is the construction. They break a lot easier than more premium pens, but thats how they make them affordable, and they're still a very good value pen.
I stopped buying a new phone every year when they become $1000+ investments with not much improvement for the average person between model upgrades. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256gb phone and I plan to keep it until it doesn’t work anymore or until fixing it costs more than a new phone. I’m also planning to go smaller if possible with just the Pro model since I use my iPad mini for things that need a bigger screen but don’t need a laptop. Great video. Thank you.
One of the things I love about the fountain pen community is how almost everyone has a cheaper pen they love almost as much as their expensive pens!
It’s amazing. And, it’s ok if you change your mind from time to time. My favorite shifts about depending on how I’m feeling. Insanely personal thing. You either get it or you don’t.
Another great video, Marcus. Have you spent a lot of time breaking in the Sebenza? Mine was stiff when I first got it, but it broke in after some time and now snaps open nicely. Knives are VERY MUCH a "your mileage may vary" tool though, so ultimately, pick one that you love and you'll never be sorry carrying it. If I could recommend another premium knife to you, try a Vero if you can get your hands on one. They are my favorite knives, hands down. Love the content you make and your insight is always appreciated!
Love your channel. The quality of the videos-the way they are shot and presented-is really excellent. Being a lefty, I wish I could use a fountain pen more frequently. But you’ve convinced me to buy one when I sign my name on work letters. I’m always unhappy using any old pen to sign my name for some reason. So I’m trying the $20 pen you recommended. I totally agree re not needing to spend $12,000 to get an incredible watch. I have a handful of, gulp, Chinese clones that totally rock for the $$. But I just can’t get behind saying that a Tag, any Tag, gets you 99% of the way to a submariner. You are talking about comparing one of the most iconic watches in history with a Tag.
Great video, I've been on the search for a nice feeling pen to jot down notes on the go and I'll definitely be checking out the Kaweco Sport
Nice edc pocket dump. This looks very simular to my edc. I always carry a pocket knife, fountain pen and cell phone. I have several montblanc pens plus a bunch of other fountain pen. Another fountain pen to consider for edc is TWSBI. they aren't to expensive and tend to survive getting bumped around a little bit.
I'm still waiting to get a Rolex.... It's a long wait lol.
One thing I have added to my edc is a small pocket notebook. I find if I write things down I remember them better than just putting in my phone.
Thanks for sharing. Pocket notebook is essential.
There's no way you have to wait two years to buy a new CRK Sebenza. They're available at multiple retailers almost any time you want one.
Ok. But if you go on their website it’s a 2 year wait
Ngl, this video could have been a lot better if that Rolex wasnt 12k

Great video. Im surprised that there is no light your edc! I love carrying a light and have often opted to carry a light vs a knife.
Nice video Marcus, big Bellroy fan too, I bought one of their thin wallets in mayalsia, it was a lot of money for me at the time, but its held up very well and still looks good. Really want their micro pen next. Congrats on your recent house purchase.
Thx for sharing. I’m curious what eye wear you have. I really like the frame
You really have to have used a Mont Blanc to understand why it’s so expensive! Nothing compares to the way it delivers ink to paper.
It’s a wonderful pen, but there are better for cheaper I bet.
Hi Marcus, recent follower of your channel, I really enjoy your presentation style. I was wondering if you think it would be a worthwhile video to talk about the Nite Ize S-biners in more detail? I recently got the #2 S-biner to clip my keyring and Victorinox MiniChamp to my belt loop. I'm finding it a bit small and fiddly, do you have a particular size you would recommend for that sort of thing? I'm also waiting for an Olight I1R 2 Pro to arrive that will also go on this clip, so I'm wondering if I sized incorrectly.
I might do a keychain update this year and will include then.
Great video Marcus, one question. What happened to your Speakeasy Dillenger wallet? The past few videos showcased that wallet instead of the Bellroy.
100% agree on the Sebenza, it’s just literally painful to use. I recommend a Benchmade Bugout from the custom store in titanium scales, or a Protech Malibu. The Malibu in particular is just a joy to use.
I love your approach to luxury items and quality items and telling the truth that the much higher priced items are not miles ahead of lower priced items. Another great video!
Thank you so much!
Great video glad you got your grail watch its good to have goals in life 😊
Yes! Thank you!
I’d suggest sending the Sebenza to Chris Reeve and have them look at it. It may have an issue with the washer.
I’m going to try and break it in some more first
I think the steel on the Corgi is 14C28N. Its actually a really good knife steel from Sweden made by company Sandvik. Thanks for great content!
Thanks for that. I’m useless at knife steels.
I have some benchmade (bugout, griptilian) and spyderco (para3 and para 3 lightweight) knives and this exact same model CRK small sebenza in s45vn steel. Its a totally different beast to other premium knives. Its not a knife that flicks open or is flashy in any sense. Instead it is just one of the best knifes in terms of value for money. Its an excellent design, built with phenomenal fit and finish and a top tier blade geometry. There are short documentaries on UA-cam in which Chris Reeve talks about his approach. Watch it and you will not only keep the knife but also beat the living shit out of it.
Haven’t seen the video. Will add it to my playlist. Thanks for the heads up.
Don't listen to the naysayers. You are one of the humblest and informative UA-camrs on the topic of EDCs.
Thanks to you, I've started carrying my qsp parrot (after watching your video on your qsp penguin). I realized that chasing after the latest fad will get me broke, and as long as the knife gets the job done reliably then its a good enough knife.
I think QSP puts out some fantastic knives at a fraction of the price. Own what you love, love what you own. They’re there to enhance your life. Not distract you. 💪🏼
One thing’s certain; I’d much rather have the set on the right when a thief makes me “pocket dump”
Yes. Agree. It’s always a fear.
Yeah, I wish they made a 15 pro mini as well i’m still using my 13 mini
The cheap watch should have been the traditional Casio. 30 bucks, absolute unit of a watch
Utility yes, design and appeal, yuck, imo.
For most of us that would never carry any real emotional connection like he talks about with the joy he feels with putting on and wearing his watch.
@@nishiki393 yeah, you are probably right about the connection… HOWEVER, it brings me joy to have the good old metal casio because it is the same one my dad wore when I was a kid
@@VictorVarelaa That's fair. I can see that having a lot of meaning to you. And actually the metal casios can be quite decent. Some of the plastic analog ones are kind of interesting too. The big display with big digit digital ones are kind of interesting as well
And as for rough and tumble construction jobs and similar I can totally see the value of g-shocks and the like, just not the nicest looking (to me) watches but that's not what they were made for.
@@nishiki393 as i said, absolute unit of a watch
@@VictorVarelaa ... especially with regard to functionality, durability, practicality, relative value: indeed!
15 grand is a staggering amount for edc!
It is. And it’s not necessary. Nor did I buy it all at once.
Please try the Chris Reeve mnandi. You will love it
Ok. Never heard of it. Added to the list. Not a cheap knife though… 😂
Great video Marcus. I think your opinion is coming with great wisdom. A lot of the overpriced products these days are not of such superior quality, they are a noch better than other products in the market. It needs good research.
@marcuscreates The Sebenza can be tuned. A little Loctite on the pivot screw and back it off just a smidge from full tight and mine flicks out like butter. Or, if you want something that matches the Rolex, there are higher-level knifes that run on bearings: an OZ Roosevelt, for example. (Plus, it’d be fancy to hear you say that in your lilted accent!)
Love your videos, Marcus, but what is with the US and knives? I am seriously curious, since we in Europe don't have that obsession.
Good question! I think having a pocket knife is very useful. I use one 5 or 10 times a day. I guess you just get used to carrying one and because it’s so common here people don’t really think it’s crazy.
Consider painting that pillar behind you black
Gods no, it adds contrast to the room and splits the frame nicely for the shot. Black would just make it all dark and crap
@@summoner2100 it splits the frame oddly actually, plus because it’s not centered it looks distracting especially since it’s white
I would buy an iPhone 15 Pro Mini too… 🤩
Would be epic
It is not a Submariner DateJust, There is a Submariner and there is a DateJust, they are 2 completely different watches.
Thanks 🙏
What about your Ewok figurine !?
Keen eyes. I love adding little Easter eggs like that
I haven’t watched the video through yet, but I want to respond to your opening comment. The stuff I carry in my pockets is there to help me work, make money and navigate life somewhat more conveniently. I’m not going to work to spend money on the things I carry in my pockets. There isn’t anything tempting me to spend 15k to populate my carry.
I don't think he will be in the slightest offended if you don't decide to buy a Rolex!
@@hoot7588 wasn’t really my point
😳 "DEFINE "SUBPAR".....Because taking out a partial (Mortgage) from your house (or) Starving for a couple of weeks is "NEVER!" a wise plan if you're trying to be a (Special OPS) 😶 , (FBI Agent)🙄 , (Michael Knight 😮💨) or (James Bond)!!" 🤦🏻♂️
The Author seems like a nice guy but I totally disagree on couple of things! So Rolex and Tag are almost the same in quality ? Really? Total Nonsense! Than you compare Chris Reeves Sebenza with a Cheap Chinese Knife with a lousy steel? How do you even come up with these comparisons? You get what you pay for in this life. IMHO, these statements about at least these items are very amusing and amateur!
Appreciate your point of view and that it’s different than mine. Thanks for sharing it. People should think of both sides of any opinion. 👍🏻
When I saw the title and thumbnail it was so obvious that the Rolex would massively skew this. Kinda pointless really…
Yeah. Makes sense.
Such a dumb video, oh i have a 15,000 dollar edc but 12,000 of it is a watch wtf?
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
No need whatsoever for the negativity!
