Seriously, Jamie, it's not just dogs. Any animal that's bonded with hoomans desires our attention. They make sure we have to direct our attention to them. It's a clear sign that we are loved and they want the interaction.
Dogs have a spectacular talent for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's a real gift. Many years ago I was mowing the backyard and the mower ran out of gas with only a tiny little spot left to mow. 3ft by 3ft at the most. When I returned from the workshop with the gas can I found that my dog had run over to that tiny spot and taken a huge dump on it. I was really pissed. As I said......it's a real talent. Cats do similar things . They lay on stairs or get under your feet as your walking.I think it's to trip us when we carry food. Few reasons Shep sleeping in walk ways. One because he is cute. Two because he can, he knows Jamie will walk over him. Three because if he was off to the side ,Shep wouldn't get as much attention . I think he wanted a treat more than he wanted to play ball.😆💛🥰🙂

No matter how many times I tell my cats that if they "accidently" do me harm, they inherit nothing, (although I have made arrangements for their safe and continued care) they seem to get some secret joy out of continuing this game of theirs. But yes, I still love them and have just accepted the fact that I will never fully understand cats. I just love seeing Sherpa's pure look of innocence!

My parents 13 yr old choc lab, Oliver, always lays at the end of the hallway where two bedrooms and the bathroom meet. It is impossible to enter or exist any of those three rooms without having to step over him. And then you have to pray that he doesn't decide to try and get up as you are stepping over him! 😅

It must be a dog thing , i use to have a black lab and she'd sometimes do this, one time i accidentally stepped on her paw , i felt so bad and told her I'm sorry. Love hearing the barks and howlings of Sherpa

Lord Sherpa is the Lord of the manor so he can lay wherever he wants. Sherpa also wants to you know Jamie that it's his house. Sherpa also wants to be wherever you are Jamie. And then when you have a big dog that wants to sleep with you on the bed and they choose to sleep almost on top of you , mind you she has the whole big bed to choose a spot, nope she wants to sleep very close to me 😂 but I love it.
