I love him in uniform or out with a mustache or without. Superb actor and a very nice guy by all accounts.
Whether by luck or judgement, the Morse franchise has been extremely lucky to have had such talented and charismatic (in their own very individual ways) men as John Thaw, Kevin Whately and Shaun Evans as the lead actors. The casting is spot on, but the chemistry is perfect.

Completely agree with you. Music is amazing. I initially thought that the show will be another detective/drama/product of massy tv. Boy, I'm glad that I was wrong. Best show. And it doesn't get worse with every season. Just like a wine 😄

I was never going to watch this show at the start, then one day there was nothing on TV so I watched it.. I was immediately hooked! I can't wait for season 7! The seasons are too short!
Same thing happened to me. Totally hooked now.
As an American, I guess I’m spoiled cos our seasons can go on for FOREVER 😂 So, really short seasons in British tv feel weird to me. I wonder if that means the actors get more chances to be in major roles cos so many shows are going on at the same time, but on the other hand, each actor probably needs to find work on multiple, simultaneous shows, which seems really challenging 😵 I notice the same British actors popping up on multiple mysteries; whether tv or in movies, and it’s really fun to see them play such different characters. It’s also fun when my mom and I recognize the same actor in a diff role and costume, etc. 😊 Like a random, informal side game for us 😂 Trivia or something. British mysteries ROCK! They got popularized w/ Sherlock Holmes, and my mom and I’ve (I have?! grammar, grammar 😝) been watching TONS of them; esp. Midsomer Murders, Poirot and Miss Marple 😀
I stumbled on this show around season 6 and was hooked. Superb writing. Costumes so accurate to the 60s.
Season 6 was fabulous! Love it here in the US. Shaun is excellent.

Sean is a fabulous actor 😍 he is meticulous in his detail to the character of Morse. In addition to this ( swoon 😁) he is absolutely gorgeous and also very intelligent and articulate- whats not to love right!!
This series of Endeavour was a masterpiece of TV Drama ❤️ This interview was interesting to hear Shaun speaking in his natural accent, very surprising .
knew that he came from my home town but wasnt expecting the full dialect!
I LOVE hearing new accents and voices! Especially when I can understand them or adapt to them. When I was a kid in the 80s, ppl used to say ‘variety is the spice of life’ 😊
Look forward each Sunday to view Endeavour,having to wait for season 7. In withdrawals waiting for this series to return, enjoy watching The intelligence of Morse at work and depended on to solve what's at hand.. I'm a fan of the old Morse, so having a young Morse is awesome to see how the young grows into a man. Great series.
A real delight , breathtaking scenery coupled with both great actors and very entertaining writing ,my favourite crime drama .
I love that they have to solve without electronics. It makes it so much more interesting for me in that they is more character development.
Endeavour is totally awesome
Always been a fan of Morse so I was a little apprehensive about Endeavour and how it would unfold. Turned out brilliantly ❣Fabulous Cast, Fabulous story line etc 💖 Am totally hooked & hoping there will be many more seasons exploring the characters as life's events unfold❣ 🙂❣

This is my very favorite next to Vera .. each one is excellent and PBS has some great programs. That’s why I am a member! Endeavor I never miss.

I’m of course a advent fan of Endeavor. This season I Love, love , love the mustache. Shaun Evans looks even more handsome if that possible.
I do love intelligent who dunnits and this ticks all the boxes. We just need more of it....please
Endeavour is one of the best period crime dramas on British TV! I'm from across the pond and have watched all the US crime shows, and many of the Brit crime shows and it's my favorite genre. I found it on Netflix originally, and just subscribed to Masterpiece and I'm starting over. Amazing how much I missed the first time...but only through 3 seasons. Shaun Evans was made for this part and adds so much intelligence and class to the show even as a humble and not landed gentleman. The entire cast is great as they weave through the '60s. I love his Irish accent IRL and want to hear more of it, although he does a terrific job with a generic educated English accent. I fell right in line with his character and didn't care for Fancy at first, but he has grown on me....and not I'm hearing him say Fancy dies, so I'm devastated. Crazy how good acting draws you in. I'm so looking forward to carrying on to catch up.
I was very young in the '60s but I remember a lot of it.....hanging over into the '70s, etc.
Did the author Dexter have a brand of naming unusual surnames? They are certainly unforgettable.....Thursday, Strange, Fancy, Trewlove etc....not to mention "Endeavor" Morse being the most intriguing.
I had no idea that the show "Lewis" was also written by Dexter (I hope I have that correct).....but I enjoy that one as well...more contemporary in modern-day settings.
Hiya, lovely points you posted, just a quick one, his accent is a Liverpool one not Irish, mind you there is definitely some Irish in the standard liverpudlain accent with it being a port with lots of Irish ancestry with the people from there.
Brit detective mystery shows OWN the market. Bravo BBC!!! Keep the greatness coming.

I'm so looking forward to watching season 6, again. Catch up on what I had missed the first time around; even thou I'm British, their Brits's accent is still very strong! It's like you have to train your ears and really listen, lol.
I absolutely love this show, but as a non native speaker, I find their lingo highly fast, idiomatic and hard to follow. I dare say that without the subtitles, I would miss a considerable amount of the lines. Interesting to hear that a British person must also pay close attention.

I experienced flashbacks watching Season /Series 6. 40 years ago, I had a an Oxford-educated college professor who looked much like mustached Morse…but was a foot or so shorter. 😁
The thing about will they or won’t they, with Morse and Joan, their feelings run way too deep for a casual affair, but they lost their moment, so now it’s about living with regret for never having tried. And that is more powerful in shaping their characters going forward. Perhaps far into the future the timing will come round again.

Where have these two men been hiding. I love Endeavour, but I am really impressed with Morse nd his superior.. Th dynamic between them is great. Wrap 'em up I'll' Ave em.

Such is the calibre of this mans acting, that I never knew he was Liverpudlian until after I watched him being interviewed after the end of Endeavours story. And half my family are from Liverpool.
The whole series was a quality production with such a moving ending.
I swear they're watching us..I was watching Endeavour on Amazon and next thing I know, an interview with Joan's actress pops up?
They're watching....but with this I don't mind. Endeavour's great!

Oh, one complaint, Mr. Evans...the Seasons are too short. Endeavor fans need more than 4 or 5 shows. We already are anxious for Season 7. There best be a Season 8. Else there be another Revolution!

I'm not familiar with the Inspector Morse "mythology". I only started watching Endeavor, and was *so* rooting for Joan and Morse!
Me too, loved their dynamic since the first series, just find it so sad that it won't/can't work out.

Az oxfordi gyilkosságok c. film, az eddig látott bármilyen krimitől nagyon eltérő, de jó értelemben, ez a sorozat gondolkodásra készteti azt aki nézi! Rendkívüli a forgatóköny-író, egyedi, más, izgalmas de nagyon! Nem beszélve a filmzeméről, nagyon egyedi, s egyben rendkívül megható, gyönyörű! Összességében egy igazi, egyedi, nagyon izgis filmsorozatot ismerhettem meg amit nem fogok soha elfelejteni!! Jó lenne ha lenne folytatás, mondjuk egy új évad keretében!!
PLEASE, at least one time, let Morse and Joan admit their love for each other, (even if they never “do it”)before the eventual end of the series! It’s obvious how they feel about each other, and it’s painful to watch series after series!
Noooo, please don’t. Joan, ugh. Definitely nothing exciting about wanting that relationship to come to a head. Also sick of Joan rebluffs of Morse. Move on.

I watched the Inspector Morse series when I was a young man and it shaped my thinking. Even though my twin sons are called Robert and Lewis,I have never watched the last episode of that series. I have never watched the Lewis series or the Endevour series. It doesn't seem the right thing to do somehow.
I was sceptical of Endeavour. But it is quite removed from the Thaw series so could be seen as a different set of characters. I was sceptical but wow it is a stunner.
I have watched one episode from each series: pre-, peri- and post-Morse. The striking feature of pre-Morse is that, unlike the others, its view of Oxford belongs to the realm of lurid fantasy. Weaponized criminal gangs ? I was in Oxford, working at the university and living in the town. from 1965 to 1973.

I love listening to Shaun’s soft scouse accent. Wish he did more acting with his normal accent. He looks like he doing more behind the camera - shame.

Noticed one thing about the whole series.
HE NEVER *VERBALLY* EXPLAINS TO ANY CHARACTER WHY HE DID THE MUSTACHE.
Not in words. He doesn't tell them it was done to remind him he hadn't solved the George Fancy case. Not in the show.
So. That leaves me one thing, to think about the poster from series six. Look at the center, where Morse is on the left and Joan is touching his face.
I bet she asked him why he had the mustache and he told her exactly why he did it. And then maybe things went haywire. Liked they kissed... or something.
Because the scene where she touches him wound up being cut out, and replaced by a short one near the beginning of episode 1. She yells at Morse that she can't take this, because she has to go to night class.
Now, what could she be talking about? Did they start to get into a relationship, and Mr. Lewis had it cut because it was too soon in the series? He got it renewed up to series eight and decided to take the plot wandering the heck off into the brambles again?
Just another wonderful non-resolution from the people who love to confuse you. I haven't seen this many wilful disappointments of the audience since "Dallas," for pete's sake, and I didn't even like that show.

I always expect him to sound so posh, relatively...hearing his real accent takes me a moment to get used to, plus the cadence.

What's up with DI Thursday? His wife? The new "boss" they report to is a real jerk. Love this show and all of the shows!!!!
Thursday got involved in a business deal with his brother Charlie and lost all of their retirement funds (end of season 5) and so his wife is angry with him. Also, I hate their new superior, DI Box, with a burning passion.

I was disappointed in Season 6. Too short, too fast, and too hastily wrapped up. I understand if Shaun Evans and Roger Allam are in demand and therefore their time is limited - I'm glad for them as they certainly deserve it. They also hardly even nodded to the relationship between Morse and Joan. I'm hoping Season 4 wasn't the high water mark for them.
Still can't wait for season 7.
Maybe Shaun made sure to direct Season 6 so he could Xi-Nay any Pre-Nuptials

I used to love bouncing Morse off Kavanaugh QC. John Thaw is fantastic. But if he was here, he would probably slap Shaun on the back and smile. I just love every scene with John Thaw's daughter. Even his wife was in an episode. It's just so lovely. Stay tuned for final episode.

I'm a senior and my TV died, so I'm catching up on a lot of masterpiece. What do you think of the new "sheriff"? He's a harda...and know-it-all. He hates Endeavour because of his brilliant deductive abilities.
