He's definitely a good player. But there are pros and cons to him coming to the Gunners.
Con - He's English. So to buy him, we're probably going to have to add another 30% or so to his value over a non-English player. That'll take him away from what Arsenal will probably want to pay.
Pro - He's a London lad. He wants to stay in London and he _said_ he wants to play Champions League football and that he wants to come to Arsenal. But then Mudryk said the same thing and look what happened there.
Con - Can we can afford him now that Chelsea are currently ruining the transfer market by jumping in at the last moment and offering millions over the asking prices and paying players outlandish salaries to lure them away? Probably not.
Pro - Chelsea won't be in Europe next season unless they win the Champions League. Which they won't. _Hopefully!_

I don't think he has that quality on the ball to play that Partey role. A lot of our build up goes through Thomas Partey and his distribution
The best ball carrying midfielder in the premier league I believe, and one of the best ball winning midfielders in Europe. What a player, hes happy to do those crunching tackles like casemiro, but also start counters on his own. Also hes fast which means he can cover for zinchenko which was one problem with xhaka. Honestly he will patch up Arsenal's defense, just his presence would help Arsenal's defense as his defensive awareness is one of the best in the world. He can cover the passing lanes while also challenging for a tackle.
Rice's work ethos is admirable, he does not go to ground easily despite being pulled, pushed and kicked. He stays up and plays the beautiful game, beautifully. He would be a good addition to the mighty Gunners.
Arteta’s gonna turn him into a complete footballer, solid in defence and newfound attacking prowess. Heir to the Xhaka role.

I agree I think Arteta will upgrade him into a complete footballer. And he will fit perfectly as an 8, pretty sure of that. As for Xhaka, I think even if Arteta adds another n8 next to Rice, it would be just enough to play the 4 competitions (PL, CL and 2 cups).
But for his physicality and mentality, I think this player was born to play 55 games per season at the high level for several years. He looks like that

I hope we land him. It's not often you see a big, bulky guy move like Rice does. He's not Partey, by any means, but I think he would replace Xhaka easily by virtue of being more mobile alone. He's a pretty not bad free kick taker as well.

Yeah me too! We have been missing a player who can win the ball and also start attacks wnd who can also score onece in a while. Partey is good of couse but i do think we need Declan.
Unlike Xhaka and Partey, Rice has the ability to carry the ball himself from defence/midfield to the attacking 3rd. Whereas, both Xhaka and Partey would just pass it to our wingers or Odegaard to take the ball forward. The last CM we had who was capable of the same was Aaron Ramsey.
However, the only downside to Rice is that he doesn't offer any goal threat himself in the way of goals or assists. That's why I would prefer if we go Sergej Milinkovic Savic instead. His stats over the past few seasons would justify the investment.

I get so sick of seeing idiots saying , "he only passes sideways". So much deluded slander. He can do it all - solo goals from his own half, long/short range finesse and power shots, long balls, short balls, headers, tackles, interceptions - and do it all very well. Without a doubt, he is WORLD CLASS. Plus he has a very rare character - he's a leader (Captain) - but he is so much more than that off the pitch for West Ham and England.

For a Defensive Midfielder, I'll say he's quite exceptional as he seems to have a lot of qualities. Will definitely be a great addition to Arsenal.

That's not entirely true. Aubameyang and in my opinion Nketiah fits very bad with the way Arsenal likes to play. Tierney seems to have a bit of a problem too despite being a very talented player.

Rice is great, but I feel we can get someone like Mac Allister from Brighton for cheaper with the same skillset (that is if he replaces Xhaka). If he plays in Xhakas place, then either a Caicedo or Zubimendi will be amazing to replace Partey.

great player, hope we land him, one thing i don't like here is that he takes too long to release or pass the ball at times, and keeps running with it until he looses the ball, which i believe Arteta will fix pretty soon just like he did with Xhaka.
I think it's because he plays at west ham and his receivers may not be in the best positions to receive a pass safely. Good players will take it upon themselves to hold the ball because they know if they pass the receiver will lose it anyway.
Naah there are very good players in westham who don't lose ball easily..his too much dribbling will cost arsenal when they play against a united or spurs or Liverpool team that are quick on the counter..not world class

This merely highlights exactly why he needs to be primarily utilised as the replacement for Xhaka in effecting an upgrade as opposed to deployed as a defensive midfielder which should be his secondary role upon the need arising through injuries.

In an ideal world, I do hope Arsenal can get Declan Rice for £50M + Maitland Niles, Lokonga, Nelson and Nketiah going the opposite way.. With Xhaka probably leaving in the summer, Arsenal will need reinforcement in midfield.

I don't think the transfer will work out. Addition of Rice will only strengthen already scary team, so the richer teams will throw money at Westham because not only they will get great player but also stop Arsenal increase their strength.
I believe that a Rice - Partey combination would be devastating.
Rice is a superior upgrade (player) to Xhaka
He is a talent. But overrated for the price mentioned. Savic wld be a greater value for money snd has more grit. Rice i dont think will get stuck in as he isnt aggressive vs xhaka.

Patino will come into the midfield next season as well so I am sure Arteta is keeping that in mind.
@@oeckstei Patino will need another season out on loan to progress. Theres also Savic. My hope is a midfield of Partey, Xhaka, Rice and Savic and then Patino can come in slowly just like what Foden did at City. I dream I know but that midfield would be a disaster for any other competing team meating Arsenal, they would hate it.

Declan Rice is example of perfecting the basics just like Harry Kane. He is a quality player. But I don't think he is worth 100 at all. Maybe 55-65 at the most. Maguire is an example of not paying attention to the basics
