Surface Searching for Crystals at Ron Coleman Crystal Mine!

- Last week, March 3rd, 4th and 5th, I visited 3 different crystal mines here in Arkansas. My original plans for Friday got rescheduled until Sunday, so at the last minute, I went somewhere comfortable, the Ron Coleman Crystal Mine in Jessieville, AR.
I mainly did surface searching until close to 1, then dug for roughly two and a half hours, then went back to a little surface searching right before closing.
Also, this is a game-changer that I found out about with this visit...they have a rewards card!! Your 6th dig is FREE! Then, you pay for your 7th visit, and then your 8th dig is FREE!!
Regular admission is $25 a day for an adult, and you keep everything you find.

I've never been out there looking. Mom and grandpa were agate finder. Grappq
Grandpa would stand and and tell us kid he sees one, then laugh at us. We've got a lot of practice looking for agates.
Oh man! Crystal digging after a nice rain is the best! Really makes them easy to spot!

My pleasure, Will! I hope you can make it out soon! There's several mines to choose from here in Arkansas, each will have their own pros and cons. All should be pretty good though, for whatever you're going for.
I love these. I've been to the crater a few times but this week was my first crystal mining experience. I can't wait to get back.

We just got into Arkansas from Eastern Oklahoma! And we are going to the Ron Coleman Mine all weekend!!! We are so excited! 🤓😃🤓 Headed there early tomorrow morning ❤
Oh, wonderful! They open at 8, and the digging area closes at 4. Most of the other mines open at 9 and go to 4, so it's like you get an extra hour of digging for the same price...and they even give you a bag for each paid admission, and you get to fill out your reward card to get a free admission for visits 6 and 8.
It's wide open for exposure to the sun and wind, so please dress accordingly and bring water. Have fun out there!! Wish I could join y'all. :)

We had the best time this weekend digging at Ron Coleman’s!! Admitting that I brought home a lot of Crystal quartz pieces. Have already started cleaning them! 😂🤓
We will absolutely go again. Super nice staff and everyone was just happy and laid back. My favorite part of it was hearing all the kids hollering. 😂😂😂 Hey Papaw, hurry we’re gonna be rich!!!! ♥️😂😂😂🤓
My husband and I both found a few nice smaller points. We were so happy and had a red dirt muddy mess of a time! 😁🤓😁🤓♥️

I had no idea about the punch card I had no idea they had that ..... I know a guy with two thumbs who's gonna fill one up .. this guy 👍👍... those are some killer ground finds you got lots of super nice points and looks like you had the place pretty much to your self which is always nice, got to love rainy days in the off season .

I have been there several times as well, and had no idea about the rewards card until this trip. I could have already filled up a couple of cards by now, too! Ha!
Yeah, I like getting there when it opens so I can have the place to myself and get first pick where to dig. I was the first person me in, and the last one out. 🤣

Remember, the sun is your friend. Look for those reflections. Also look for straight lines or geometric shapes if the crystals are all dirty/covered in mud. One other thing, when it comes to the type of clay, the redder the better. The thick, peanut butter-like clay is a good indicator of areas with good crystals. 😊

@@joedadbod8450 update, had a great time! We went to Avant mine instead as it was a bit closer. Didn't find any mid or large crystals but lots of little ones and a few small clusters on the quartz matrix. I don't even know if that makes sense or the right terminology tbh I'm still learning. But thanks for your advice it definitely came in handy! If you happen to know of anywhere specific to find agates and/or geodes I'd be happy to toss some donations your way. I found a few spots in Missouri but no exact location. Thank youuuu!
I am going to get to go for the first time on 3/30. Anything else to look for beside crystals?
The main draw there is crystals, in various forms. I have found some amethyst there, but we’re wondering if someone got it from the gift shop and dropped it on the field.
Crater of Diamonds has several different types of rocks to find there, aside from the possibility of a diamond. It’s about an hour or so away (south, in Murfreesboro).
@@joedadbod8450 I live in Fayetteville and have a work meeting in Little Rock on the 29th. I am going to try very hard to hit Crater of Diamonds in April or May. Thanks for the video's I have been watching in planning.
