My favorite theory about the Lady of Pain is that she, Ao, and Tharizdun create a trinity of beings greater than the most powerful gods. Ao represents Law, the Lady represents Neutrality, and Tharizdun represents Chaos. Obviously, this only works with FR lore, though, and there's certainly arguments to be made that it doesn't even work there.
I was so excited to see this one! I hope you gentleman will do a series where you finish all the inner and outer planes that y’all haven’t talked about yet (or want to revisit). You two are definitely a go to resource when I build campaigns!
D&D is older than WoTC, don't worry. Follow your passion projects. I dislike the company but love the game and lore. I grew up with the lore and it will be a part of me, no matter what company owns the rights. And I will continue to watch you guys regardless. We own our game no matter who has the rights.
This. D&D will have a place with me for the rest of my life. It made me ecstatic to see WotC/Hasbro back down (for now) on the OGL, but it's only one step after they took a massive leap, tumble, and pratfall backwards. I have no reservations about using the physical materials I already have and my penchant for piecemealing rules and systems anyway to still play the game I love and share the experiences and stories and adventures despite and in spite of whatever dipshit suits own the license.
Glad to see the planescapes being explored some more because im working on a setting involving them for my friends and these videos are very informative and give me ideas as to what to add as far as history to my world so thank you a lot for these vids
There is an article written by Monte Cook in Polyhedron 127 called, "The Day of Grace". The article details how a little girl met and spoke with Her Serenity. And lived. No one knows what words passed between them.
Didn't the original planescape book specify that the city's name is pronounced Sig-ill" Where the g does not sound like a J, but rather like the g in gate.
I got on my players nerves anytime they went to automata. I made the place have a weird bureucracy for even some common things. The locals would have no trouble navigating, but for the players it became a sidequest. They got banned from the town because they would get so frustrated, and always break some law.
But but but if the plane is infinite you can never reach the settlement at the edge of the plane and each settlement is infinitely far away from each other settlement and sigils center spire.
I see no problem with shouting out the annual subscribers every episode. They're subscribed for a full year, why not shout em out all year? I personally may not be able to afford to be a patron but I love those folks that can!
I don't know if travel on an infinite plane is ever addressed in the rules. In a home brew I use the concept the only way to travel from one point to another you have to know where you are going and your speed of travel is based off intent and will power.
I really don't like how Sigil, and other planescape cities are sized as a medieval town, it shouldn't feel like the center of the multiverse, an almost endless City reminiscent of Ravnica.
Eh..I think makes sense when you consider that only a Tiny, Tiny percentage of people in the multiverse have access to, or even know about other planes of existence. You take a Prime Material world, with 10 million people on it, and only a thousand or so will ever travel to another plane In their life
@@agentchaos9332 I don't know man, it seams odd, with infinite Crystal Spheres or planets (now that Crystal Spheres are not cannon anymore) plus infinite outsiders, it would seam more likely that the center of the multiverse would be in of itself infinite.
It’s a shame you guys can’t do much of lore of d&d including doing an episode of Elistree the best Goddess but I am excited for you guys on moving on hope you guys become more successful in the long run
I am all about supporting content creators and have been unsubscribed from D&D Beyond. Idk if I plan to resubscribe any time soon. I am curious if y'all would be willing to share your opinion on the OGL 1.0 and Creative Commons announcement and how it affects you moving forward?
A high level campaign where the PCs discover multiversal plot to reduce the lady of pain to deity status in order for one group to over take sigil would be dope.
Any plot to overtake the Lady of Pain should be swiftly, and immediately dealt with through narrative _deus ex machina,_ as per the campaign setting. The Lady of Pain does not have stats nor should she be given them. Players who don't take the hint after getting mazed, should either be barred from entry to Sigil, or if they are particularly egregious, the shadow of the Lady should fall on them so they can reroll their characters.
Here are some cool homebrew items that would be found in these markets... Distilled pixie blood plasma (greater restore) Liches whiskey(Necro damage+ wis saves) Abbolithe caviar(read thoughts for certain duration) Orderly prim umbrella(+3 to all mental saves, everything you wear is magically symmetrical) Trichobezoar beheld(thrown grande, erupts in a 20 ft area with branching flesh like hair, creatures within are restrained) Spice of doom(Will said it first this episode lol; when smelt or tasted it's tempting/delicious. Gain temp hp for 2 hrs then lose then as well as 10 permanent from hp Max) Portal powder(sprinkle on ground, wait 5 minutes, create a portal) Curse of the fischgeberten(a poisoned pin, easily hidden in shoes, that turns the afflicted fishy) Scroll of enbaldment(when successful, the target of spell is magically bald) Country fried wand( magically creates fried meat in a bucket 5 x a day) That's all I could think of while the episode was playing, never stop creating ppl Feel free to use these dungeon casters & 🌍. ❤️

What about the Raven Queen?
@@darnell1391, my understanding is that she was a mortal who became a goddess. Much lower on the power ranking.
Glad we defended our ogl! and gained ground beside!
To visualize how Sigil actually looks, it’s better to imagine a car tyre than a donut. The city is on the inside of the tyre.
Apparently the lady of pain and the Raven Queen have some level of connection
Her sistah from anotha mistah
Hope not, would be kind of lame.
Thank you, guys. Love Sigil and planescape as a location, and the lady of pain.

New episode and VICTORY!

Having someone who hasn’t played Planescape hear this is really interesting
You guys should do another sigil ep! I’m running a planescape campaign, and your Achron episode was a big help
Awesome video!!! I'm big fan of everything related to Planescape!
Bloodborne is my favorite video game! Never knew Sigil looked like it! 😁

I'd watch an Elden Ring livestream for sure
I like the interpretation that the Lady of Pain sees herself as being above a god so to her being treated like one is an insult.
Sigil sounds like if blood borne was built on a halo
Don't world build... Build a multi-verse!
So I was thinking of at first doing a Harry Potter/dnd school in wild space but I have been thinking of using sigil or the outlands.
Also umm.....lady of Pain is that a smash or Pass Brian?
Love you guys
Never eat a random torus.
nice new episode.
I have every planescape book ever written in 2E. I love adore this setting and every product except faction war.
Thank you for saying it the right way and not the stupid baby word WRONG people say it.
With all the pigeons I guess they serve pigeon pie at any Tavern or Inn
Interestingly, it’s not the grease of an Apple fritter that kills you, it’s the carbs and sugar.
Big mass effect citadel vibes

Do you know of a map of Sigil showing Bigby's statue location?
Thx

It varies from plane to plane. On some planes, being the wrong alignment literally means travel takes much longer or you don’t get anywhere at all.
You guy's vaguely talked about it in your Vecna lore video.
Plural of Dabus -> Dabusi

The 50k number is a product of later editions. In the original AD&D 2e material Sigil explicitly has a million inhabitants.

Conflict is forbidden but murder is not. How to square that circle...
Poison
Xavier = Zavier. Chaos = Kay-aus. Xaos = Zay-aus.
Sigil: sounds like Sea Gull, not Sid-jal. Dude on the left pronounced Xaos correctly.

By the way; The words are heteronyms. The city of Sigil is different from a drawn sigil.
