    Brilliant engine and led install as usual, thanks to the Bent screwdriver for mega tips. Good luck with the move. The rings look great. 👍🏻

    Another job well done ... but to be honest, the symmetrical flickering effect kills the illusion completely. Such expensive modules really should have a pre-made mode for twin jet aircraft or let you dial in an offset to break up the symmetry. The effect itself looks gorgeous. If it were my jet, I'd probably limit the effect to 70-100% throttle, tho. No visible flames on jets at all unless you activate the afterburner. That's why they're called "afterburner rings" ^^. At least you got the PLUS version, so you can freely program your own effects using their software.

      Yea totally agree! It is pretty slick that there are a bunch of presets for programming. I’m the same! I only want to see the lights at 70 ish percent and above.

    Wow! That's turning out to be a beautiful Diamondback bird. I think the Diamondbacks (VF102) and Jolly Rogers (VF 84) had the best looking squadron paint jobs. No offense intended, just pointing out a couple of details that jumped out at me if I may. The afterburner petals seem a bit too dark. They were never quite that dark pre 1987 with the Pratt & Whitney engines and were silver post 1987 with the newer GE engines. Also, the decal shows VFA 102. The VFA is for the F/A-18s flown today since they are fighter/attack aircraft. When it was an F-14 squadron, it was VF 102.
    Outstandingly beautiful airplane! I can't wait to see the flight video!

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Antonio! All the paint work so far was completed by the manufacture. So those little details are sometimes just generic details to them. Thanks for watching!

    35:00 Awsome effect. When both engines afterburner flashes and stutters at precisely the same time it diminishes the scale appearance a little. The amount of effect should be the same but not the exact time the light simulates the exhaust plasma flashing over..See what I mean? (I'm wondering if this is a setting in the control box) 🤔

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 роки тому +2

      I think it can all be setup in the controller. There are a bunch of pre programmed settings but i'm sure is costomizable as well. We will cover that.

    Doesn't the heat effect the tail burner lights?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 роки тому +1

      No. There is lots of airflow through the whole hot section of the plane. Keeps everything cool!

  • @ClintMaas
    @ClintMaas 2 роки тому +1

    Do the lights get hot enough to light the afterburner?

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 роки тому +1

      They do give off a fair bit of heat for sure that's the reason for the large heat sinks on the light.

    What is this plane worth?

  • @aaronl_trains_and_planes
    @aaronl_trains_and_planes 2 роки тому +1

    I'm sure the engines produce more than enough power, but why is it designed with the engines so far up and a large pipe running out? Seems to me anyways, that you would lose some thrust by the time it travels down the tubes. But, like I said, the engines probably produce more than needed thrust and it's not a big deal.

    • @thelightersideofrc
      @thelightersideofrc  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Aaron. you can actually gain thrust if the pipes are designed correct. I was part of an F18 Build a few years back with the turbines right at the tail cones. Cool idea. Cool system buy the problem is your now moving so much of the weight behind the C of G that you need to add lots of nose weight. I believe in that 18 we added 6-7 lbs of nose weight to compensate. It was a very porky F18.

  • @kruelunusual6242

    While the model accuracy is impressive….but as far as making it actually fly…..just seems like a real money pit….for something you can’t fly in…..maybe I just don’t get the rc thing….I would be afraid to fly the thing without a camera on the nose….even then….they got great mobile simulators that cost 5 bucks…..that’s as close to the real thing as I need without actually doing it….
