LOVED this video!!! I have an 01 Honda CB750 Nighthawk and I'd LOVE to take that bike down to the Tail someday!!! I've already ridden the Tail back in the early 2000's on my New Honda CBR-929!!! THAT was a RUSH,but watching this video made me smile from ear to ear the whole time, listening to the CB's engine sing the whole way!!! Great video!!! :-)
@@TheCeedub Lol. Understood! Of course the CBR-929 is more sporty and has more acceleration/top-speed,etc. but unlike the Nighthawks,it also has a back-breaking riding position, where your putting most of your weight, right on your wrists in a leaned-over riding-position! On a Nighthawk, your in a much more relaxed upright riding position which means you can ride a lot further in a more comfortable riding position!
The powerband on that bike , while decent in the lower revs , makes it power for 7- 9 thousand rpm and has a top end rush thats decent . He never quite got there but riding within your limits is good karma and a good message for fellow youtube riders ( respect) and so is a good pair of leather motorcycle gloves ... First thing that goes is the skin on the palm of your hand when you go down .... Take notice people ... anybody can ride fast but can you save your bacon with a split second braking maneuver or countersteer when you over shoot the corner takes years of experience ... This guy here sets a good example of honing your skills slowly and appears to me to be a competent rider , nice and smooth is where its at in the corners at any speed ... and of course the bike sounds great Cheers
I appreciate it, man. I actually was wearing gloves that day. Took them off and put them in my pockets while stopped at the top and forgot to put them back on. Had a dumb moment there.
If you still got this one man, check out the Pirelli Angel GT 1 tires on your next change over... thats what I had on mine when i took my 91 through the Tail.... Absolutely rips with them!
Nicely filmed and good sound. Thank you for not chatting to the camera, but just riding. Thanks for letting us ride along. I've been on 129 several times and go to Marysville/Vanore often. You know, I find the roads over the mountains of extreme North Ga, more enjoyable. I know several back highways near my home with constant switchbacks, better banked curves, 55 and 45 speed limits and similar scenery. Tail is pretty crowded, low speed limit and the Tenn troopers are writing tickets constantly. Maybe I ought to quit the office job, build a shed bar and biker campground on one of our highways, come up with a road name and publicize it on the internet. Nahhh I just like riding the way it is.
S Tho I’ve found the bet way to avoid the cops and crowds on the dragon is try to go during the week. Weekends are always packed and the cops are like vultures. But go up there on a Monday morning and there’s no one.

I'm pretty sure that's a lot of miles on basically any bike. But if it's been ridden fairly gently and taken good care of it's probably fine. If it's been ridden by someone like me for 64k miles, I'm impressed it lasted this long lol.

NodnarbTheRed that seems to be their going rate in my area too. Has it given you any problems since you’ve had it? I know the motor is carbureted, just wondering on reliability.
shut your face! The only issue I’ve ever had with it is one of the coils went bad and I’d randomly lose two cylinders. I replaced both coils, plug wires, and spark plugs. No reliability issues otherwise.
I got lucky with my 750 dude was moving out and had to be gone next day so i picked it up for 570. Granted its not winning any beauty contest but its just cosmetics like theres a little surface rust on the exhaust its missing a side panel and the paint is a lil faded. But hell it runs like a champion.
Nighthawks are great bikes and pretty damn cheap these days too. My buddy had an 84 650 that I rode and afterwards i kept bothering him to sell it to me lol.
Just some cheap dirt bike bars from Cycle Gear. The controls just barely clear the tank with the bars turned all the way. I think I had to cut about 1/2" off each end because the wires weren't long enough.

Matthew Morrissey 1800 goldwing for me!! But I did have a awesome cb650 nighthawk 1983 bad ass
