I speak for all Michiganders, when i say thank you, to the men and women hard at work at the tank Museum restoring not only a piece of your history but ours as well. #1AmericanAussieProud
This has given me a new appreciation of the Grant as a solid piece of engineering - not just an ungainly stop-gap rush job.
Same here.
It was also still a beast against the Japanese in China.
@@brokeandtired Damn handy in the western desert against Pzkpfw IIIs and early ivs too. But it's clumsy use of the 75mm and height always seemed to be a transition tank not to be taken too seriously, for me anyway.
This series has shown the degree of thought and engineering that actually went into it.
100 % 👍
@@awf6554 Well against the Japanese tanks the 37mm was still effective frontally, in the tank on tank engagements, the Grant wiped the floor with Japanese tanks. Up until 1945 it was still effective in the Far East and its 75mm made a great pillbox bunker cracker.
You Guys are the reason why Wednesdays are so much more enjoyable! To see the tank drive under it own power is incredible!!
Couldn't help but smile when those tracks moved!!
You all have done a brilliant job on that M3 Lee/Grant. You guys should be very proud!
I believe this one is a Grant
@@nickellison2785 it is a grant
That there's a rod welded into the barrel makes this bittersweet IMO.
The grant and all the other tanks, are a great tribute to the super heroes who lived, and died while keeping the world safe for future generations, hail to the men who served
Die and kill human beings for nation states is a stupid thing to do...
You are right, they are a testament to the freedom we enjoy. Careful, though... there's a 5th column of woke tossers who are going to change the name of Brisbane if we sit back and let 'em...
It's ALIVE!!! Bravo! Excellent job. Congratulations to everyone for making it moves. Another great restoration to running condition. Greetings from Poland!
"...and that's all we have time for today" and I was like NOO!!! 😂😂 Brilliant! Seeing it move for the first time almost made me a little moist in the eyeball... Great work! 👍
You can imagine the guys who built these in the early to mid 1940's watching you and laughing at how slow you are.
The heroes of the conflict weren't always on the front lines.
The factory workers were important too, but received no glory.
RIP Grandad.
Another treasure brought back from scrap heap. Brilliant job guys, can't wait to see it in all it's glory, war paint and all
Every time I lean in to get a closer look, your camera guy zooms in exactly where I was looking. Shout-out to the camera guy and editor for their attention to detail.
In the words of Igor, Dr Frankenstein's oppo..."Master, the monster lives". Great satisfaction must be had by all for eventually getting a massive "Meccano" kit together and running again. Well done all that were involved.
May your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but happiness come through your door.
You boys have the best job in the world. Finish because the next tanks are on their way. Greetings from Poland 👍
Thanks Team, that was a gripping episode, I nearly fell off my office chair. My face is aching from smiling. I love Workshop Wednesday. Cheers
Back from the dead, a Grant Tank is rolling again!
Wow! Top number job you lads. You all have amazing skills and so much patience . As soon as I win the lottery I'll be over to Aus Armour in a heart beat.
🇦🇺 🇬🇧
The team are just amazing, and who ever fits the music interludes is amazing too, love every minute
The old girl must feel great roaring back to life after all these years, well done boys.👍🇦🇺
Fantastic job boys !!
Cheers from Canada.
Keep up the awesome work.
Top job as always boys! What a superb thing to see it moving under its own power! Fantastic!
That will be the best grant tank ever
And not many sleeps and I will be seeing it 😂😂👍👍
Guys! You do such a good job when we are asleep over here (northern hemesphere).
It is very informative and educative, plus entertaining.
The work y’all do is top notch. Y’all are keeping history alive and not just in books or on the computer. A goal in life is to go and take a tour of your museum. Much love from America
Museum is in one of the nicest parts of Australia.
Well its about time man!
It will be a bitter sweet moment when this project is finished, but we all know the next will be as bloody good!!!
Once again i did not blink, did not want to miss anything!
I'd like to see a separate stories interviewing these guys. How they got into doing this what they did before. Some of their favorite shop stories etc. I think it would be interesting
Awesome to see it move after all that work. A video suggestion if you don't have it in the works- Do a follow up on all the parts and tanks you just acquired from that road trip. Go through what you brought back to the facility and were it's all being stored.
Keep up the good work on this channel!
Wonderful, a Re-Birth of the Grant, Great Work !! Soon it will be Finished, you guys have the Best Job in the World !! ..
As the bits go back in, the sense of how crowded tanks can be becomes evident. I'm bingeing on this series!
Just let Daryl and Jessie know know I checked my Garage and asked next door and we dont have a 37mm Breech Assembly
You guys are doing a great job. It shows how we've lost our way in designing, though. In those days rugged, simple, and serviceable were the keys. That's what makes restoration like this possible. Today, I wouldn't be surprised to find a car where you have to take off a tire to replace a spark plug. We should get in touch with a few more basic things. Like build a car from a mechanics viewpoint. If he can work on it without wishing the engineer would die in a crash and burn situation, you're getting better! Hehehe
On point!
we even had to wear a cvc tanker's helmet on the m60. everything inside was metal, and didn't move. driving the tank cross country, you did. even if you were hanging on with the minimum of three points of contact. trust me, it hurt if you cracked your head on the side of the turret even with a cvc on.
Having built a few model kits of this tank i'm watching the first part and saying "You gotta slide it in with the cut-out part at the bottom". 🙂 Great video as always.
To see this tank move under its own power for the first time after all the hard work of restoration is just outstanding! What a sense of accomplishment! Well done mates.
I have to say if I had the job of refurbishing and putting together tanks of the past I would love my job. I would look forward to going into work everyday, I would work late, weekends, Holidays, it would be such a joy and my wife would hate me for being gone so much!
Seems strange to say that but I am addicted to watching these videos. The Grand tank restoration videos are especially intriguing.
That is brilliant to see! When I think back to those early episodes, the rust and damage, and now it looks so GOOD! well done!
dude!! That must have been so satisfying to see it move under it’s own power after all this time. I hope you all had a round of drinks that night; you bloody deserve it.
That' engine sounds very healthy. Probably the fastest Grant in the world.
Al in the back being a legend. :))
Fantastic work, workshop Wednesdays one of my favourites.
Great work gents! It's a runner! Looking forward to seeing it drive round the test track! Next the turret ring and turret itself! That will be something to see! It's awesome watching you guys put the puzzle pieces back where they belong, a hell of an effort! Thank you all for your dedication to bringing these pieces of history back to life.
Brilliant stuff guys. The Isle of White Tank Museum here in the UK planned to get a full troop of A34 comets up an running about ten years ago but nothing came of it so maybe a troop of Grants would be even better so watching all the way!
Congratulations gentlemen for a job well done. Detroit would be proud.
What an awesome effort by all involved! This is dead-set one of the best UA-cam channels ever... Australian lads spannering away on heavy war machinery, there's nothing else like it 👍
I don't presume to know how to install the 37 mm gun shield into it's mantlet but it seems to me, if you had the mantlet horizontal and drop your gun shield down, that would be easier to lower it instead of fighting the angle of an almost verticle mantlet.
This is exactly what I was thinking...
I’m hoping to see a video soon of all the tanks and accessories from Jono Parker being unloaded, cleaned up and inventoried for work later on. A whole battery of running Grant tanks on parade would be an awesome sight.
As Victor Frankenstein said...
"IT'S ALIIIIIIIVE!"
That looks awesome, great progress. The whole gun assembly has way more to it than I imagined 👍👍
IT'S ALIVE! IT MOVES! Awesome chaps and congrats!
She's alive.. Well done guys
The real fun of reassembly is seeing the end results.😊
Precision forklifting!
It is sad that anyone who actually assembled these Tanks are not here to see your wonderful restoration.
Ok. So who was in tears when she started moving? I know that I was slightly when she started rolling.
Oh and fantastic driving there from the forklift operator. That was some precision driving. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
You really did get me with the fake out ending in the middle there.
Wonderful to see this tank finally coming to life! So exciting!
I wait with anticipation every we'd for the show love it
Absolutely love this channel and the work you do. Amazed at the skills of all and how you can turn a wreck into something in better shape than when new rolling out from Detroit arsenal 😊 Like standing as a spectator in the actual workshop. Keep up the good work!
You guys are true artists on restoring this tank. Thank you for sharing this. I’ll be down next year to see all your work…
Fantastic job on the 37mm guys. Now, if you could manage to find a dummy M1919 for the coax....
I've totally enjoyed watching the restoration of this old war horse.
Just think all that perfect engineering at
the time and one shot by a enemy shell
blows it all to hell & kills the crew
Thank you for restoring one of our tanks
Go you good things. Can’t wait to see it painted.
Great to see it move! Well done guys!
I love y'all's stuff including the Grant restoration and all the others. Keep it up guys 👍
Without Workshop Wednesday my Wednesdays would be much less exciting. You are doing a great job! I wish the German tank museum would also give such an insight into their restoration works.
I would love to see everyone that helped with the restoration of the tanks have a plaque with their names on it somewhere on the tank.
Always look forward to the videos guys!!! Great job!!!
thank you for letting us all be apart of this! we are so excited to see it completed.
What a wonderful acheivement CONGRATULATIONS FELLAS
Great job you blokes. The 2 pounder is surprisingly long and components are well engineered.
For anyone who hasnt seen the original Sahara with Bogart as the TC in a Grant, highly recommend you do.
The U.S. tanks were Lee, the Brits called them Grants.
It's ALIVE........ Well done boyz.
The quality of the video production is perfectly-matched to the skill and productivity of the workshop guys. How do you keep putting out content like this week after week when short-lived series like Tank Overhaul resorts to guys putting grinders to random pieces of metal to provide visual interest to the camera crew?
That's fantastic! Great job guys... Thanks for sharing the wonderful progress, watching from Missouri USA!
It must immensely satisfying when the team see all their hard work comes back to life again and move under its own power. Great job guys and gals
They are complex machines but compared to modern vehicles there actually pretty simple.
Awesome work, can’t wait to visit again
My new favorite channel on UA-cam.
Momentous occasion, great work guy's, I'm sure your all very proud of the work so far.
Thanks again, for all your hard work and dedication 👏 👏👏
Clapping in applause and it’s moving under its own power
Well done lads, great to see Grant move under it’s own power.
She runs, and moves. A big moment! Well-done, men!
I remember your first video and now you've become the de facto tank restoration (and more!) channel on youtube for sure, and with true Aussie ingenuity you manufacture parts that you can't get hold of easily and get things done!
I'm sure most people would love to have everything 100% original but old military hardware are usually quite rare - and hard to acquire, let alone being expensive - hence why I'm and the rest here are glad that you fabricate instead of parking the projects for years whilst waiting for some unobtanium parts...
Thank you for making all these videos and for restoring and saving history for future generations! ❤
Just such a shame that I live on the exact opposite side of the world here in Sweden which makes it neigh impossible to visit you, hence why I appreciate all the effort you make making these videos for us!!!
You're doing God's work boys, Cheers!
So happy to watch the Grant came alive again after long sleep !. Thank you guys for posting every awesome restoration videos every week.
see you next Wednesday !.😄👍
Now this is cool, y'all should be very proud of all your efforts in bringing this beast back to life. 👍🇺🇸
And you have a runner. Congratulations on all the excellent work.
11:58 UA-cam’s closed captions thinks Al’s grinding in the background is applause. I’m clapping too Alan. Great job.
Major milestone. Fine work guys! Cheers.
That sound of the engine, is like music in my ears, well done guys.
Tikaвая працца📽️👍
i loves my workshop Wednesdays 😊👍
Absolutely Beautiful work gents! You guys are awesome!!!
Love the series. All of them. What I like the most is that you get to see the inside and all the gubbins that goes into them, not just the outside like most museums. Keep up the excellent work.
Wow! She lives again!😮
That was great to see a bit of life again.
That’s awesome, love your work boys 👍🏻🇦🇺
Congratulations for all the team .You're fantastics
Wow, congratulations guys great work.
You got me with the false ending LOL, good thing I always stay till the bitter Id have missed it!
It’s alive! Congrats boys 👍👍
Really enjoying Workshop Wednesdays! I would love to visit and see the collection up close, but seeing as I'm on the opposite side of the world, Workshop Wednesday will have to do! Fantastic work.
