In the "A Certain" series world there are two sides: the magic side, which is led by magicians, and the science side, which led by scientists and espers. Magicians use magic, whilst espers have paranormal or supernatural abilities (that can be explain by science, unlike magic), there are two different power/magic systems for each side. Mikoto Misaka (Railgun, the protagonist) is one of the seven level 5 espers ranked in the city (which is the highest level possible, also most of the inhabitants in the city are espers. Don't worry, it's not a big spoiler, we find this out at the beginning of the first episode of A Certain Magical Index), she's an electromaster, so she doesn't use magic. In Index we deal with both the magic side and the science side, while in Railgun we only deal with the science side. That's why we see a lot of scientists and why the show is called "A Certain Scientific Railgun". The coin is a reference to her most powerful attack, she can use her electromagnetism to shoot the coin at an extremely fast speed, like a railgun (aka super electromagnetic cannon). The show involves a lot of actual science, so if you're into that I think you might like it. The three shows (Index, Railgun, and Accelerator) take place pretty much at the same time (and sometimes there is a lot of overlap between the arcs in each show). There isn't an 8 or 9 year gap between them. If you're interested in watching the series, I recommend you watch it in this order: Index, Railgun, Railgun S, Accelerator, Index II, Index movie, Railgun T, and Index III. PS: Accelerator is also a level 5 esper. PPS: The city (as you can see) is extremely scientifically advanced, that's why it's got a lot of wind turbines, among other things. A lot of people say it is actually the main character of the story.
I would mostly agree with this however I think you should watch Railgun & Railgun S prior to Index I. The reason for this is that all of Railgun takes place prior to Index I and then Railgun S first arc overlaps with an arc in Index (although it is shown in alot more depth in Railgun S). Don't want to say any more as trying to avoid spoilers but my order would be Railgun>Railgun S>Index>Accelerator>Index II>Index III Also it is important to watch Accelerator after both Railgun S & Index I but before Index II. Alternatively there is a weird watch order online that is the most chronological possible where you constantly switch between series after specific episodes but I find it more annoying to follow that watch order
@@FFgamesftw I get what you're saying and I agree to some extent; however, I think it's better to watch Index first just because you get introduced to the Magic side right away and you get a sense of how this world actually works, whilst in Railgun magic is never really acknowledged. I think it might get a bit confusing after watching two seasons of Railgun and then you get to Index and get introduced to a whole other world within the series. But at the end it's just a recommendation, I think it's fine to watch Railgun first if you don't mind the introduction of magic later in the other show, and to be honest I actually like Railgun more than Index.
@@FFgamesftw Actually, you're wrong about all of Railgun taking place before Index. Railgun starts on June 16th while Index starts on June 19th. Misaka's fight against the AIM Burst actually happens on the same day as Touma's "fight" with Kanzaki, and the epilouge of the final Episode of Railgun is on the same day as Index's Deep Blood Arc.

I am going to need actual confirmation for this, cause I don't think they're the same scene... Mostly because of character positioning in both openings (Kuroko teleporting in front of Mikoto in Railgun's first OP, whereas she teleports behind her in the Index opening).
I'm Telling You, Touma (the kiritsugu looking guy ) and accelerator ( the creepy smile guy) both of them are one of the strongest characters in this show
@@MWPSBCID They're not ranked based on strength, but on their importance to Aliester's plan. Though technically Misaka is the second most important to his plans. The reason Kakine is ranked higher than her is because he's Accelerator's spare plan. Same reason as to why Mugino (whose Ability is stronger than Misaka's) is ranked fourth as she's the spare plan to Misaka. Gunha's specs are actually higher than Kakine's, so if they were ranked based on strength then Gunha would be #2. It should also be noted that Ollerus (the blonde guy who appears at the end of Index III) once fought against Gunha (the Anime skipped this) and after completely crushing him told him that if he were to master his Ability then he'd be even stronger than him, which would mean that if Gunha mastered his Abilty then he would be even stronger than White Winged Accelerator. He'd also be stronger than ArchAngel Gabriel and Fiamma of the Right.
