It's cool until you're actually trying to rely on heating up an MRE. During basic, you're always eating it cold, and when you can actually use the heat pack, it works like 70% of the time lol.
They just fill the inside of the packet with an element/substance that makes a chemical reaction which emits heat, and it emits heat because the element/substance reacts to air or water depending on which MRE
Wow that was awkward when the dude pulled the one side off like a sissy and stripped it. Lol that poor guy that worked there is like thinking are u fucking kidding me. That was a good one. And that's either really shitty luck or a sign that the air activated one is really bad out the shoots
I love that we (USA) will spend money to feed out troops. They all deserve every small comfort we can give them. I will never complain about my taxes being spent on them. Please come home safe!
Jennifer, i would go with the old one. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Hence why it's first on the periodic table. The plastic bag is recycable. The cardboard can biodegrade, or for soldiers be used for tinder (starting a fire). The one with the water pollutes less.
I'd stick with the water-activated warmer, unless its on specific environments. The water one is not shiny and not reflective to give away the soldiers position if they were behind enemy lines. The water one wastes less. Id wanna use the water one when it's cold as a hand warmer, too. The "new" one that is air activated also doesn't make sense. If it's air activated, it has to be extremely corrosive... Oxidation chemicals would ruin electronic components in a sealed enviroment in a sub/aircraft. Albeit a short term and small exposure, but if the whole crew has to use these for an extended period damage would be don
Zinc and potassium hydroxide. The energy released is 1.28 kcal per gram of zinc. The old one releases 5.92 kcal per gram of magnesium. Magnesium is also much cheaper to source and to process into a powder.
In the bag is better. Many times you can add other meal components to be heated. If they implement that thing like that, it's going to be worse and the boys aren't going to like it.
It's now 2020 and my coworker just gave me one of these to 'look at'. I don't think it's going to work for me and my partner. We bring real thermoses up the hiking trail and pour hot cocoa and hot soup that's hot and yummy. Yes the thermoses are weighty more than pouches but the results are worth every calorie/protein bite. I'll stick to them.
They both messed them up. The new guy didn't take all the adhesive off the first pack and the old guy didn't fold over the packet top.
I agree. This one is a bust
He didnt use the rock or something lol
Issue on the new one is you can only heat up one part of the meal, the old one you can take out and put in or just put in two parts of the meals
Very cringy..
Yup
"Oh boy, we'll just ignore that"..."yup"
Sasha lol nice one
Sasha omg i clicked randomly in the video looking for that part and i landed perfectly on it XD
thats sounds much safer than the old one. lol
What a tool that guy is. " Ubcan see the smoke comin out" -.- when a man has a thumb in the middle of his palm
1:15
Let's get this out onto a tray
_Nice_
M’kay!
Alright
Steve!
Nice
That's the coolest thing I've seen about the military. Even after hearing how food is heated up I'm still amazed at how it's possible.

Why would submarines crews be eating MREs? They've got the best ration in the navy.
+Anh Triệu Yeah! Semen.
+Anh Triệu In case they need to drag it on land and patrol a forest.
Like navy ever does anything...
They give the Marines a ride...
SEAL teams being deployed from submarines would use them.
Lol! You made this look so analytic and then concluded the video without comparing time to completion nor a temp gun comparison.
Still don't know how it works..
Unicorn farts.
CptBeardo it runs on American Freedom Power, the hottest thing of all
Wrong. It runs on tax money, lots of tax money.
They just fill the inside of the packet with an element/substance that makes a chemical reaction which emits heat, and it emits heat because the element/substance reacts to air or water depending on which MRE
Its run by a defeat of the American Vietnam wars anger
So... they are just oversized Hot Hands. Im guessing that they take 5x longer to heat the food.
Basically more powerful hot hands
Nutz4Gunz45 they are heating the food inside and not much heat comes to the hands
When pencil pushers try to use MRE heaters.
What?
He means them being pencil pushers they both messed up on how to do it.
@@Jeremy-sf2xf aren't the pencil pushers the one who invented it?
@@dardo1201 probably
This has to be the wierdest name calling I have ever seen
My OCD is going nuts right now >_< 0:54
Gerald Perez I know right!
Yep
You know well that you dont have "Ocd"
yep, I don't even have OCD and it annoys me
Watching From The Philippines! 🇵🇭 🇵🇭
Botched this episode. Bad adhesive, no timer or temperature test. Dude only removed one of the two strips on side #1
1:17 the new air heater malfunctioned. So obvious. Get a video editor.
how did you see that?
He opened it (accidentally)
problem with the old one he didn't fold the opening closed
The first thing i noticed
Who in their right mind would have thought that this correspondent was qualified to think and converse intelligently. Unbelievable.
I am currently an MRE volunteer and when I go back to Natick Labs, I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one of those air activated heaters......
Where do you volunteer for that?
Join the army.
always wanted to know this.thx
No more rock or something.
Lol thats what i said
i mean it could be effective still
there is something on the back and its not getting that much air than the front
Where do you get those air actived ones anyway?
So right off the bat, we have an air - activated MRE heater that would work properly because of the leftover adhesive - Nice.
They were giving mre's to people in N.Y. during hurricane Sandy in the areas that badly got messed up
The old MRE I just heated was tasty but the bottom was way hotter than the top of the meal packet..
Maybe I didn't heat it long enough.
Wow that was awkward when the dude pulled the one side off like a sissy and stripped it. Lol that poor guy that worked there is like thinking are u fucking kidding me. That was a good one. And that's either really shitty luck or a sign that the air activated one is really bad out the shoots
Well it's still in the works, so they are probably still working out the kinks.
If you accidentally ingest a little of the powder that uses will it hurt you
Anyone watching this in 2021 thinking "wow they're wearing their masks on top of their heads like hats, weird"
I love that we (USA) will spend money to feed out troops. They all deserve every small comfort we can give them. I will never complain about my taxes being spent on them. Please come home safe!
2015 was somewhat of a good year.
you dont say
So is that's steam coming out flammable? I wanted to see that
thats cool you also don't need water to activate it, that could be very useful if they are without!
Please let us know the manufacturer.
But does it cook it better?
*realizes he missed one adhesive strip. "we'll just ignore that"
"rock or something"
How did air enter without spilling heating material ???
Fluorine ???
How do you heat your coffee now ?
The guy on the left looks like Andy Bernard from the office lmao
well this gonna suck because you cant make a mre bomb
once I heard hydrogen I thought lighter
yeah but...how am i suppose to make MRE heater bombs???
Lol
2015? And this man says “current issued” bro i’ve never seen that heater in a current mre 😭
and one day in band camp
i stuk my my mre in my jeep engine block
Which one produces less waste?
The new one, did you not hear him talk about the hydrogen gas and the potential to burn someone.
Jennifer, i would go with the old one. Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Hence why it's first on the periodic table. The plastic bag is recycable. The cardboard can biodegrade, or for soldiers be used for tinder (starting a fire). The one with the water pollutes less.
@@SteveVi0lence that's not why hydrogen is first on the periodic table
finally finished my dum science homework
Do not overfill bro...
The heater might not radiates enough heat.

Rest in peace MRE bomb
What's inside that heating bag?
Must be top secret. They still don't tell you how the new on works...
What is the element/compound/ substance in the pouch that reacts with air to produce heat?
Zinc and potassium hydroxide.
The energy released is 1.28 kcal per gram of zinc.
The old one releases 5.92 kcal per gram of magnesium.
Magnesium is also much cheaper to source and to process into a powder.
@@DMOTAMNB Thank you, you gave me an idea
Man! Science is so amazing!
Now where can you buy one of these?
Cool. Thanks to pentagon
That guy added almost no water
evan Reed there is a line on the bag, and if you over spill it it doesn't work. if you mean that.
evan Reed there is a line on the bag, and if you over spill it it doesn't work.
It requires only a couple tablespoons of water.
Wait so now you cant heat two things at once where before you could make coffee if you got in with your meal now you can only do one thing
Anyone here coz of Mr Gundog ?????????????

Kyle Dorsty Cheers ! :)
Me, too.
TBNTX Cheers. :)
We can't ignore that.... Lol
is it reuseable??
zed gaming probably not
Really makes me trust then when they go "OOPS GONNA IGNORE THAT" and also when the presenter mistakes steam FOR SMOKE

This meme is really stale & childish.
MEAL READY TO EAT and it takes 10 minutes to warm up
You can eat it raw so it's still a MRE
They must not work well or cost too much cause they still aren't using them
❤️Mre🍕
Einstein didn't take both strips off.
They're making estamboli.

clickbait titles make them work
So it’s not voodoo.
The water activated heaters pose no danger cause they never work.
YEAH SCIENCE!

"A chemical reaction" Lol . Don't get too technical with us now.
Hydrogen is explosive when mixed with oxygen. Better not light up a cigarette.
I'd prefer using water
