Mr Bardwell, you're such a powerful influencer 😁
Quadmula is now sending Siren's with new grippy Lipo pad and grippy lipo straps 😂
I own 3 F5 splits now.. love em... very good customer support. had a cracked arm guard print and they sent me 4 arms and new guards 😁
As in you ordered a frame with the tpu arm guards and one of them was messed up? That's so nice of them!
@@definingslawek4731 yes 🤙🏼
Pro tip: use his name on your next order to receive extra goodie’s 😂
just have to use his address as your shipping destination and then....
That guy Bacon Ninja is always saying great things about this company and their frames.
This honestly got to be the best frame in the world that I haven’t been able to get my hands on in the last 3 months. 😅
I flew my Quadmula Siren F5 split drone with HDZero for the first time yesterday, love it!
I have the Siren F5 Split and two F3 Splits , absolutely love Quadmula!
Great frame and excellent customer service 👌 👏 👍
Regarding the press nuts - if anyone else out there is a bit of a tool-head, the Knipex Pliers Wrench is great for installing them. The jaws are flat, so they won’t put a bunch of dents in the press nuts, and the jaws move in a straight line and stay parallel throughout their entire range of motion, so it makes it easy to press the press nuts into the carbon while being correctly aligned the whole time. Oh, and the flat jaws won’t mar your carbon either (as long as you don’t go crazy pressing the press nuts in.)
Their PR team and CS are top notch also.
Nice frame and I love the GoPro Mount solution! Also nice packaging, but man so much plastic waste. For me: just wrap that stuff in a paper bag and send it out. Those parts are not fragile.
You could make a small gravity bong with the plastic tube. Or something.
Right?! I’m 100% on board with this. If the frame is good, I couldn’t care less about the packaging.
I’ve beat on 2 F5 splits since they hit the scene and have had ZERO issues with the stack screws. If anything I believe it adds to the tunability of the quad.
Quadmula stole my heart and I’ve not flown anything else since the maiden flight.
This frame flies so locked in. I’ve broken a couple arms on mine when slamming into concrete or steel but never bent a stack screw. Actually think it’s a great idea with the silicone tubing.
I love this serie of videos about testing frame. Thanks Joshua!
I love watching these "frame reviews". I have been designing my own frames for a while and love dissecting design choices. If only I could finally settle on a design myself....constantly having new iterations. Wish I knew how to do stress analysis in Fusion
Makes me want to put Bardwell’s name on my orders from now on. 😅
I’m about to place a nice getfpv order. I specifically came to your channel to use your affiliate link. Thanks for all you do!
If you're making a series out if this, then I would LOVE for you to do one on the newest TBS Source One v5! I know it's basic, but it's cheap and available absolutely everywhere in almost every store.
Having had a whole bunch of experience with the V5, I love the frame, it does not fit an 03 air unit, and if you're learning Matty flips, you will likely crack the rear end of the frame in a lot of places. I'm on my third rear mid/bottom plate
Exactly! Also the glide is another great affordable frame that’s very durable.
@@Nathan_Adams yeah it does! v5 03 build here
@@mavfpv since the camera plates are only 19mm wide (o3 is a generous 20mm), I assume you are using a 3d print to hang the camera out front or replacing the camera plates with a 3d print? I have seen some built with an o3, but it always seems like big compromises in terms of durability/protection of the camera. If you want a source one, the v3 can accommodate the O3.
@@Nathan_Adams true, 3d printed mount replaced the front 2 standoffs. I've gotten some good LR flights with it, just posted a PNW vid i did all with the source one v5 and 03, but for peace of mind id go with a different frame next time.
Nice review! I use the package as a tool box when I’m in the go!
Nice build . You have a blessed one .
Thanks for the review, Joshua! 😊
I wander if you're going to build it!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Their an amazing company.
Nooby-Newb and I'm learning so much from your videos!
Nice vid. I have also the frame and it’s very very great
Great content!
8:20 they have 20x20 mounting on the mini version of this frame (It's still 5 inch, the normal one can actually do 5.5 inch.) It weighs 91.3g !!!
Came here to mention this.
I've also seen that more stack screws get bent on the 30x30 version compared to the 20x20.
I’ve got their f3 split very nice frame and under 250g with DJI o3 😊
The f5 split mini has 20x20 mounting. It's a nice looking for frame, too bad I have too many 5-inch quads. Thinking about the f3, though..
Great review! I love how you articulate all of the little details, and weigh the pros and cons of each component and design 👍👍.. I have been flying the Dji FPVD for a year now. I want to make the jump to full fpv, what controller do you recommend i start with? And do you think i should build one or just get a prebuilt? I am a tinkerer and pretty good with my hands but iv never soldered. Guess i need to learn either way but i appreciate and respect your recommendations. Thanks JB

1:49 “I’m gonna figure out something to do with that; there’s probably a use for it.”
Me to my wife every single time. I’m gonna have so many awesomely packaged things someday.
All I use for battery pad is a good velcro strip. Cut to shape. Soft side on the battery, hooked side on the frame. I've been using these for years, and they're also cheap.
Same, rock solid approach
great review..i got one i like it fly really well but mine has a bad juju or a jinx are something. had nothing but problems out this build
I love the quadmula f3 split i wanna get the 5 inch version
I’m building a sub250 3inch version of this as my first build… and it’s pretty easy. The O3 air unit is soft mounted with TPU inserts rather than the carbon ones that were in the video
For the record... if you're super careful you can drill out the M2 holes and set it up for M3 stack screws. You just need to make sure you have M3 press nuts on hand.
Huh. I might do that
Wish I would have thought about that
I agree. So long as they can keep churning out super precisely machined carbon parts, I'll keep recommending it.
In the middle of building Quadmula kwad now
Hyperlow Bside frame seems pretty interesting, looks like super versatile platform.
The shipping is the kicker…
Joshua you’re an intelligent individual. I’ve been watching you for almost 7 years get you a one eight drill bit drill them out with a regular drill. It may take you a total of two minutes did you get mount him three bolts come on man you’re the smartest guy I know and I don’t even know you I’ve talk to you about five times come on brother talk text. I’m at work.
The Quadmula Siren F3 Split is my favorite frame these days. 🤖
Really appreciate you taking the time to review the SF5. If you think the first impression was good with the packaging and build, wait till you fly it. 😉
But why M2 screws!
@@JoshuaBardwell I know I know. All I can say is this frame is great to tune and with ample clearance for the strap to move plus an Ummagrip battery pad, I really doubt you'll have any issues with the M2 screws. The bends in the stack screws come from the battery strap getting caught on the stack screws and the force of a battery ejecting.
@@MurdersFPV 20mm clearance means a handful of stacks are out of the question (looking at you speedybee v3)
@@MysteryD Very true. My favorite combo right now is the T-Motor F7 Pro MPU6000 + Foxeer Reaper 65A 128khz ESC.
@@MurdersFPV quadmula contacted me because the couple I built for customers had arms wiggling. Explained it was a QA issue with machining tolerances, then sent both me, and my customer, brand new frames to prove they fixed the issue. I found that to be a superb pr tactic on their part. Own your shit, fix mistakes, and show people the change. Perfect.
Would really love to see your thoughts on the GRL gravity loss Pro 2 titanium. recently purchased one and man oh man solid frame 👌
Racers crash hard and prefer M3 nylon screws, not just because they are light, but because steel screws tear the stack appart in a hard crash. The idea is to rather have the stack tear out, than pierced by the stack screws.
I use two nylon m3 and two titanium stack screws for weight savings. Can't find 20mm aluminum stack screws.
I use double sided sticky tape between the TPU gopro mount base and the top plate. Then I use a metal washer on the 4 screws that hold the tpu to the top plate. I haven't lost a gopro mount yet.
Packaging has too much plastic ☠️
And a tip: there are silicone mats to use in your car to prevent things sliding of the dash. Cut up, they work very good as battery pad
Yup. That's a nope for me.
You have yet to ever mention the GravityLossFpv frame, the GRL Titanium Pro 2. The 2 frames that you named at the end of your video the fly fish and the rotor riot tanq. I have seen both of those builds and i just know i would break them. Im a concrete and metal beam basher and in the past 2 years of flying GRL i have only broken 4- 5” arms. Which is freaking awesome. Now it is a Ukrainian made frame but the innovation and time that went into designing these frames are just terrific. They really never break. The other frame that is absolutely indestructible is the KINfpv Atlas v3 titanium version. I flew one of those for 8 months never broke anything but i did sink it into a pond and just haven’t bought another one yet. I say these names because i know alot of ppl who dont like rotor riot in the groups like on Facebook and stuff so these are extremely great other options that really are indestructible
Oh! And * another * thing... the 3D prints that come with the Quadmula frames are some of the best I've seen included with frames, ever. Clean prints, durable material. Very nice.
Car guys will recognize that to be a shammy towl container 😊
I think Speedy Bee had the best take on frame related vibration isolation with the insert in the Master 5. Man, what a great frame. JB you should really take a look at it. I've beat mine to crap and it has held up well.
dude, that was the worst idea from that whole bus frame
JB talked about it in a live stream. He says the FC soft mount integrated in the frame is a bad idea.
@@chrisbee5481 I saw it, he gave it hell. I think maybe he was a bit hard on it and my BB results speak for themselves so...
While I think the frame is decent. The m2 stack screws and narrow body sections will keep me away. I've thought the trend of narrow body plates was a bad idea long ago after getting FC or ESC jackedin a crash and do not want my VTX overhanging the sides either. Plus now that we have the 03 wide AF cam, that narrow trend now has all the frame designers adapting and redesigning.
JB, do you ever miss your Banggod? I mean look at when it was designed and it still fits any cam and VTX combo out with good protection😉
I am not a fan of the main battery leads hanging out the bottom either.
I'd be interested in your Blackbox Log.. if you have 2x F5 Split's on one, remove the pressnuts and drill out the M2 to M3 using your Dewalt drill
You nailed it on the head with those stack screws, I bent mine multiple times in hard crashes, and had to call it. Moved on. Will work great for a lot of people just not this guy. Camera plates drove my nuts too
if 20x20 mounting for esc and fc is something you want, just pick the "mini" version of the frame. it's the same frame with 20x20 holes.
Oh dang I missed that. So the mini version doesn't have 30mm mounting?
@@JoshuaBardwell nope, that’s the only real difference between those 2 frames.
@@baptiste_nonat it's slightly lighter and bit smaller. They are both nice. The mini is crazy light
@@josefdahari yep, just saying it’s the main difference but you’re right.
@@josefdahari facts. I'm at 668g AUW with a Vista, Hero 11 and a 1000mah battery
Catalyst Machineworks Banggod. Stable, smooth, agile, rugged.
I really like the soft mount m2 screws with the silicon, that and the rubber gummies have really given me nice resonance and minimal vibration to my flights. Always super smooth. And with the camera mount they actually have a TPU soft mount for the O3
I have bando bashed this frame a ton of times now and never bent the stack screws so if your freestyling in parks and wooded area's like i also do i just break prop's and get grass all over it. Joshua build it up tune it to your style and fly it cus i think your going to want to fly it all the time it fly's so good and I'm really not sure why i have always flown true x frames and not squished x frames but after flying with this frame now for a couple of month's i don't want to use any other frames.
Iirc, ummagawds frame was tuneable by dint of different shure hardness rubber lord mounts, which separated the frame sections, so there is a precedent there. 🙂
I wrap a strip of hockey stick tape around my batteries. cheap, easy way to add a lot of grip.
I think the second plate below the camera is because otherwise you'd need 27mm standoffs.
Ohhh that's interesting.
Jb, can you do a review on the Craftedquads Freshman frame?
I've always used m2 stack screws and never had an issue. Thought it was the norm.
That's why IRC APEX EVO is still the best Frame for me and It's now supports O3 AU.
I have that frame. The 3d printed parts are very good. The dual capacitor 3d printed holder is nice as well as the 3d printed arm ends But that it's not mentioned on the video the pressed nuts came installed on my frame. I would like the option for a 20x20 stack.
Mini is for 20x20
Great breakdown and review!
Can anyone please tell me whether the props come into view if using a GoPro? I'd like to try and use the frame as both a Freestyle and Cruiser (with a prop change and tune swap). Would love to see a Deadcat version but maybe that's not what they're about. TIA.
I have a wow pen driver. Slowish, but automated. For micro screw users with tons of bits.
$40
First like Bardwell 🤣👍🏿
I’m not a fan of the M2 stack screws and the press nuts in the middle. They get in the way of the esc plug and I need orings to raise it up making it harder to fit the stack. Flies amazing though. Would love an M3 version.
Joshua Bardwell, is it possible to make a tri-copter out of a quad copter bored that has only got 3 ESC is working on the board. (Aio board. ) If so I think it would be great video content as I’m sure a lot of people have Boards that they want to resurrect. Thanks man. Really appreciate it.
Lou
I do like those M2 stack screws! It seems to me that if something has to give, I'd rather it be the stack screws rather than the FC or ESC.
Great chamfered carbon as well as precise 3D prints. I love the Quadmula Siren F5 and F3 split frames. The only weak point is the battery straps.
will there be the O3 version of your signature frame soon? :)
The 03 version has softmount 3d printed front plates.. so these are not for the 03 with the faded part.
Also I have only just build the frame. Still need to assemble all. I wonder if m2 is not a better choice... I rather have stack screws bend... that I can replace than have the force of a crash get into my stack... like a crash zone in a car if that makes sense.
I am curious what whould your pick be in the same weight class... the tank is kind of the opposite offcource. But lets say a frame that has all the same basic screws and stack screws.
Where do you get the aluminum sleeves you use on GoPro mounts?
Non straight edges are to dampen vibration.
Bardwell just guessing...
The insert is called a bushing.
I was wondering when you were going to discover this frame.
Ok. I designed and built a frame to carry my iflight 2306 pro motors and my mamba F7 4th gen 65 amp flight controller. it's rigid, it flyes well and makes so much fun.
It's weight is 58 gr.(the frame)
Have i done something wrong or something impossible. 😳
Have you heard of the newbeedrone inertia? It's my current favorite frame and has close to zero problems
I’ve never seen anyone mention this frame but I’ve been eyeballing it lately. Heck they are selling an O3 build on that frame right now for $470! It looks to be a solid looking frame that could take a bit of punishment.
@Erik Smith I actually bought that kit and I'm certainly liking it so far. All it needed was a reciever and assembly. A full O3 quad for $485 certainly isn't bad! I liked the frame so much that I bought 2 more 😅
Can I assume we have to trim a little more off of the silicone stack screw sleeves in order to install the nut on top? This wasn't shown in the video because JB wasn't installing a stack, but there has to be something securing it, right? Also, I suppose we could use regular M2 gummies instead of the included sleeve.
Yeah good point.
Haha I recognize that package dollar tree shame wow towels bet they got a deal
how about kiss and kiss ultra ? it needs to be hard mounted so no chance to use this frame
Didn’t ummagawd once fly a quad with only ummagrip, no strap? Good stuff
Yep he sure did! Here's the video! ua-cam.com/video/nhdgItCajJQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JoshuaBardwell
What are the ethics behind having Joshua Bardwell as my To address when buying things? I want free stuff too 🤣🤣
What is the official name for the M3 washer/sleeves for the gopro mount? :D
About the battery straps... looking at you ImpulseRC ಠ_ಠ
where can i get just the TPU inserts
👍🏻👍🏻
The only option for using M2 stack screws are a deal breaker for me. I only use 2.5mm M3 fat head stack screws for my builds. Shame because I really wanted to try this frame.
How do you measure frame size (5", 7" etc) and is there only one universal way to specify?
thats just the prop size
18:51 those are called Top Hats...
Do you have a link to the metal pieces you use at 19:29?
Was looking for the link too. But, I guess JB isn't going to tell us anything.
Ok, is it just me or does the Quadmula Siren F5 look just like a TBS source one V5, but mote refined... Makes me wonder, is it worth the extra 45 dollars... Thoughts?
Absolutely I own one and love it
Just a dumb question... i am confused... do you use meters/milimeters and grams in USA or what?
Why do they not have a N.A. distributor for this frame?
16:43 I build mine with the power wire like the smaller image but I use fire resistant shrink tube over it to prevent the wires melting from the Avatar VTX & it gives a protected layer and rigidity between the wires and the carbon top plate.
If you're not concerned about the weight, I recommend doing this.
Whats the best 40a or higher esc/fc combo for a 6s 5" freestyle quad?
There isn’t really a best. There are so many good esc and fcs out there you can really go wrong with. Honestly anything with an f7 chip should be perfectly fine for any build.
I'll stick with the Moxy... Interesting ideas in it though but i don't like all that cut out carbon.. Compromises durability too much
I'm surprised nobody has done the new apex frame.
It's on the list!
@@JoshuaBardwell sweet! I'll keep an eye out
Yes would love to see it, specially with o3 and antenna mount that is more freestyle orientaed with a 3D print like vanny or phantom uses (I want to use the same but not sure which antenna and 3D print they use for o3s
@@FreshPanda97 pretty sure it was refined for the 03 air unit specifically. Should fit all that no trouble
What do you call the spacers for mounting the gopro?
Aluminum sleeve? You have to get creative.
