Love both of them. Excellent women and humans. I just love Cynthia and Ariana's connection on and off screen. I couldn't imagine any other person playing Elphaba but definitely could see Amanda as Glinda. Amanda has already proven she's a box office hit with Mama Mia. This one belonged to Ariana because of her absolute connection to Cynthia, they are totally in sync both artistically and privately. Whereas Amada has a whole other life that demands attention. Everything worked out perfectly.
You know, it's one thing for us (relatively) regular people to lose out on getting a job we really wanted, but another when you learn you lost it to someone few people thought was a good idea initially, but then having to endure the torture of actually seeing how great the other person was in it, immediately followed by weeks of accolades, nominations, and awards, seeing their face plastered on literally EVERYTHING, kids begging their mothers for dolls and costumes, adverts for it in every commercial break, and then....at the moment you think you might _finally_ be getting some peace and it's no longer all you think about, you treat yourself to a relaxing bath and let Calgon take you away... (sigh) ...until you open your eyes and see NOTHING BUT BUBBLES EVERYWHERE TO REMIND YOU OF IT ALL AGAIN AND YOUR GD CHILDREN PUT THE SOUNDTRACK ON REPEAT FOR DAYS ON END TO THE POINT THAT YOU CONSIDER CALLING CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ON YOURSELF. THEN, JUST FOR GOOD MEASURE AND BECAUSE YOU MIGHT HAVE AN OUNCE OF SANITY LEFT, YOU REALIZE THIS UTTER CRUELTY IS GOING TO PLAY OUT FOR ANOTHER FULL YEAR BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY COULDN'T CONTAIN HER TALENT TO JUST ONE F%*@ING MOVIE! ....Damn. Would that suck, or what?
With Amanda, it would have been a completely different movie. I think they got the right choice. Ariana did have to audition for 6 months before they saw Glinda and not Ariana performing.
She did a really high note at the end of "A Heart Full Of Love" in the Les Mis movie. Though I'm not a singer and don't know about these kinds of stuff, so I'm not sure if that makes her a soprano.
Amanda already played 2 iconic broadway roles; Sophie (Mamma Mia) and Cosette (Les Mis)…. She’s fine!!!

I can't imagine Amanda pulling off singing on set instead of pre-recorded in a studio.
Les mis was recorded live on set.
Ariana is the perfect fit for this role 🧤!!!

One thing I am curious about is how high can Amanda Seyfried sing? She kinda brag that she's a soprano.
