What a sweetheart little mower! Mine is a 1st year, '83. Poor thing sits in the dingweeds since I got the 332 and a 430,them early 80's-early 90's JD's are the best ones
I picked up a 318 this year that in fair shape but the front is leaning more to the ruff side. The onan appears to be say 60-70% health im guessing. Last year i picked up a 316 onan thats in the high end of fair shape but the onan in it was a 79 b48g that was about 20% health ( check gas fill oil) did some on it trying to keep it but i ended up doing a small engine warehouse repower for 2400. 2 hicups on repower though. They offer 2 versions for early and late. Not sure if that changed driveshaft length for the different onans offered as i needed to make a 3/8 spacer for driveshaft. So that could be my issue but there issue is i needed to make 4 half inch spacers to lift engine up to get exhaust to fit side panel but plug and play fits nicely and looks nice. But both tractors the wiring is not good. 316 was worse no pto function no dash lights. I have tried a different black box no luck so ive rewired it my way. Dont have dash lights yet but needing to mow and being a trk driver thats gone most of time havent had time. Next year since got 318 running (new tank pick up and redo line routing back to vac pump vs e pump) im gonna mow with it so i can work on 316 wiring more and this fall hoping to resurrect 30 hydro till. (Missing mounts modified to fit 3pt brackets) bearing is gone and has like 1/2 inch slop and hoses shot. Hoping pump and motor good. The hoses were like 200 😢 but looking forward to it running. 316 will be mower tractor. 318 will be utilty/ tiller tractor and backup for mowing is needed. Then i have my big girls 57 520 and 48 B and turns out both 316, 318 are 86. Im an 86 model too😅 my B i bought when 13. 520 i drove first time on gramps lap at 6 ish. I got when dad died when i was 23
@@tractorboy31 Dang. Sounds like a lot of work you have into those. Which is impressive if you are gone most of the time. Good luck with that tiller, those are really sweet. The 520 and B are two of my favorites of the larger tractors. I would also love to own an M one day. I am an '86 model, too! Haha. My 316 Onan is an 84, but it might be too far gone to get going again.
