About Mat's deflection on the widely accepted theory at 44:40 I feel like Mat is saying this from the standpoint of someone who thinks thoughtforms, in this established universe, can only be seen by the people who create them, therefore if other people and the ultrasound were seeing the baby, he wasn't a Tulpa. However, you don't really need to watch the later chapters to know that's incorrect, as in the video where they explain about tulpas, they mention the idea of using soldier's thoughtforms as weapons of war, which wouldn't be possible if a thoughtform's actions or just sheer existence didn't affect anyone or anything besides the person who manifested them.
unfortunately, matpat spends too much effort talking and not enough effort observing with this series.then again, that's his MO. that habit works with the other analog series he's covered, but doesn't realize how much it's hurting him with greylock. you can watch most others casually, but greylock isn't like that. everything in greylock is deliberate by the creators.
While he's definitely wrong with his reasoning I actually agree with him, I don't think the baby is a tulpa. Its an interesting theory but if you pay attention to the dates, I don't think it makes sense. The pregnancy phenomena is an event triggered by the excavation of Mt. Greylock, in 1987. Tulpas without a thoughtform manifestor are very hard to create. The fact that Arnold River's later refers to this as the pregnancy phenomena and that there are other panicked doctors in the hallway indicates that Tiffany was NOT the only person this happened to. So the idea that ALL of these babies were tulpas feels kind of far fetched to me, especially since this is BEFORE unit 13 was constructed. Alex Marsh, Tiffany's husband, is a part of the Thoughtform Manifestor program, but the earliest date we get from the tapes for that is 1993, a full 6 years after The pregnancy phenomena and Tiffany's death.

That wasn't Matt's reasoning from what I heard, and there's no need to go on with the "widely accepted" appeal to authority, it's not like Matt had any way of, well, ruminating over it for months. Matt simply said that the whole "it vanished because of the scrutiny" felt off, because it's not like it wasn't already put under scrutiny just... 30 seconds prior, when they were all looking and going "whoa, look, he's kicking again etc". She literally saw "her baby" and then what? Randomly doubted its existence in spite of that, causing it to physically vanish? The sudden vanishing just didn't seem to have a good cause. And I still don't think it does. Thoughtforms spontaneously disappearing isn't something with a precedent, and even if you accept the plausible idea that letting go of the strong thoughts would harm or even delete the thoughtform, I don't see any way in which the mother had fair cause to doubt anything. Unless maybe she was internally harboring doubts the entire time, which, come to think of it, might make sense, since the thoughtform was born out of her immense desperation, and with such desperation might also come a whole lot of worry and doubt. But that's... not exactly something I'd expect Matt to consider in a brief in the moment commentary. Remember, he isn't fully theorizing here, just reacting and making brief comments and guesses.

Right when the video glitched to show the emergency broadcast, my phone, unprompted, pulled up the "cast to tv?" prompt and it scared the heck out of me
"Aahh the screams of the children in the night! More applause. Love it!" And there goes another quote for the infinite MatPat out-of-context compilations
Max Headroom was never CG. He was played by the actor Matt Frewer in some serious makeup. The show started as a UK movie and was then picked up for a US tv show. Max Headroom was actually NOT the main character, at least not at first. This is going back a ways, but the main character was a reporter named Edison Carter, who was also played by Matt Frewer. I loved the UK movie and the show when it came out in the US, I was in middle school at the time. Blipverts, ye gods! I think the first episode shows somebody getting data from Simiodyn, and the subsequent episodes are showing the data that was taken. That's why there are glitches and the episodes are sorta all over the place.
On mobile (or at least on a tablet) if you hold down the screen, it starts playing at 2x speed. The issue is that sometimes my cat laying against it or something like a wrapper will activate as a tap and hold so suddenly things will just happen very fast when I’m not paying attention lol
'Do you know what they did up there' as another youtuber, Emortal Marcus, pointed out, could point at the first moon landing related to the events of the series as the person in one of the tapes, who is likely one of that home intruders, stares at the moon at the end of the tape
Speaking as someone with kidneys that can't stop forming stones, they may not be old, but they most certainly are troublesome. (For the concerned, I'm already monitored by a urologist and dietitian, have changed my diet to each recommended specification, and received medical care. While I'm unfortunately one of the few who spontaneously form calculi no matter the diet, current measures have mitigated the growth rate. Thank you for your curiosity and sympathy!)
I had a feeling Greylock was in reference to Mt. Greylock. With the MA broadcast, this is absolutely Western MA, around the Berkshires (Tanglewood & Jacob’s Pillow). I’m living for this.
When MatPat was describing an ultra sound i really wanted him to go “the old jelly on the belly” because of how he described it. I was waiting for him to say it😭
What's the evidence for the baby being a tulpa? Because everyone says this but I'm not actually convinced. The doctor's conversation in the hall and the fact that it's later referred to as the pregnancy phenomenon suggest to me multiple people were afflicted with vanishing babies. All of them being tulpas, especially so early in the timeline in 1987 long before the first known operation of the Thoughtform manifester feels very unlikely to me.
I'm so glad you're watching more greylock!! its one of my favorite analog horrors and im glad its gotten so much attention recently. I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you watch all the way through to tape 12-- theres some really great moments in that last that I would be sorely disappointed to not see Matt and Ash's reactions to!
54:32 this is where the auto generated close captions can fail you. Having this on in the bachground I clearly heard "Carvings in stone" and was wondering why Matt and Ash were going on and on about stones being manmade when that wasn't what the recording said, then I turned to look at the video and saw the auto generated close captions. Just stating the whole tape makes a lot more sense when you realize it is "Carvings in stone" not "Carvings and stone." Edit: Apparently I'm the insane one because the official captions also say it "Carvings and stone" which I guess is just a weird way of speaking.
I was just about to comment on this!! If you listen without looking, the actor seems to say “in stone,” so it is possible that’s what the original script was and whoever was on subtitle duty got their wires crossed or even a typo made it onto the script! Whether it was a typo on the script, error transcribing, or whatever else, it is still far more likely what the character was meant to have said, because otherwise the line makes very little sense. Least as far as I can tell.
I like how almost all of the jokes and gags they make overstay their welcome for so long you would think it would get akward at some point, and it does BUT it goes much past that akward point so it becomes funny again
There's a VERY good and underrated analog horror series, "Dreams of an Insomniac", made by Pastraspec who makes a lot of horror content (analysis videos on all things horror!). I think it'd be amazing to see it show up on this channel! Also really enjoying the Greylock videos! Edit: I know to some there might not be enough content of it for a full video, I'm just throwing the idea out there
44:56 What if the husband was the one who created the tulpa? Tiffany didn't seem to be thrilled to have the baby, but she was okay with having him for her husband. He is the one naming him, he is the one excited, and he is the one who wants her to call him right after the appointment, not from thier home phone or her work phone, but immediately from a payphone. Just a thought.
It has been about 2 months ever since I have stepped away from the theory channels in general to prepare for my entrance exams. Knowing that Mat still appears on Gtlive makes me ecstatic!
Ash no, don't tell him about our special three dots! We can't let them in on this, or they'll have knowledge to everything we've been planning! Let's all keep our dots closed!
Maybe I misheard it, but I think the Max Headroom ad said "new series premiering tomorrow," which would put it in April 1985. Tape 006 was in March 1987, so it can't be first in the timeline unless Max Headroom was an anachronism. Also, Mat should play Crow Country.
While it first released in the UK in April of 1985, the United States premiere of Max Headroom (the emergency broadcast is in Massachusetts, so this is a US station) was actually March 31, 1987-which lines up perfectly with the end of sleeping dogs.
What if the strange fluctuations occurring in all the videos involved time lapsing? The forest before and after, the baby there then gone and the food suddenly rotting as if weeks passed.
This was one of the best GTLive videos yet, there were some DEEP thoughts in there. Hope we continue this series, I'm super intrigued to see where this is leading
It’s fascinating to me how many analog horror series feature either pregnancies that get terminated or mothers losing very young children. So far, I have seen it in Monument Mythos Greylock, and the Mandela Catalog
One thing I’d like to mention about the face at 26:18 is a similar effect I feel that also explains the shiny look over the face that could give a similar look without being “lizard like” is putting plastic wrap or a clear bag over the face and pulling. It would force the upturned nose, the sort of blurry look and the shininess around the high points of the face for where the plastic stretches
Hey, just wondering if you could start numbering these sometimes? I love these videos but it’s hard to keep track of things and order of videos sometimes
Its so refreshing to be able to talk about the special three dots in the open. Its been so stigmatized. Rock on Ash for breaking convention. Let the special three dots finally be out in the open for all to acknowledge.
44:40 remember, that in the info video they say even other ppl can see someone else’s thoughtform. i’m not sure about the “being confronted with it made it disappear” bit since both her and the nurse were confirmed of its existence so there’s no reason for her to suddenly realize it doesn’t exist. unless! it’s just because thoughtforms are inconsistent in their corporeal forms so it wasn’t able to stay for very long bc it wasn’t strong enough, which would make sense-the clip just made it seem like something else caused it to disappear.
1:08:30 What I personally believe is, Simiodyn is tampering with their phones so that they can't call for help or anything. They knew about the cave and what was in it, and they hired the mining crew to release what was inside. I also believe that the people who are breaking into the houses and killing people are the miners who were transformed by the effects of the cave - which again, was most likely what the company wanted, perhaps for some ritual or something.
Now when we talk about aggressive windows, are we also taking into consideration the terrain on the inside? Because that could also make it very difficult to enter
5:10 "If your internet is not creamier than it was before" The innuendo king strikes again 👑 🍦 16:12 "It's such a weird piece of cultural arcana" Yeah, I'd never heard/seen Max Headroom (or even the term "cultural arcana", which refers to obscure or esoteric knowledge within a specific culture). 28:57 "Is that (special three dots) a female issue that I should be aware?" That DDLC reference (they heaving whenever there was an ellipsis in dialogue) was a deep cut (Ash's a real GTLiver). "Special" really is a dangerous word, especially when it comes to food (like "special ingredient"). 50:38 Yeah, the question of what consciousness is hasn't unfortunately been solved yet (in philosophy of mind, it's called the hard problem of consciousness). Also, it is even debated whether consciousness is an emergent property of a multicellular organism or not (exactly because we don't what it is or how it works). 55:46 That's the "curse" of Tutankhamun, which was a legend claiming a curse was placed on pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb to protect his mummy (anyone who disturbed it would suffer bad luck, illness, or even death). That myth was fueled by the fact Lord Carnarvon, who financed the excavation, died a few months after the tomb was opened. One of the possible hypotheses is that it was caused by various bacteria and fungi that were growing inside the tomb.
Wasn't there something in the first or second tape that said that tulpas could be seen by others too? So the baby thing could absolutely be right if it was a tulpa.
Also they said that any tulpas that are extracted from those people would be put into containment. I would say that maybe those tunnels were where the tulpas were being kept if there wasn't artifacts(?) down there.
Sure, but there are other things casting doubt on it, too. Like... why tf did it vanish? You could say "scrutiny" but, as Matt said, they were just watching it kick around and believing as much a second ago, so to suddenly doubt it would be odd.
"We will approach him and look him in the eye - as an equal." Literally one of the hardest and most chilling lines I've ever heard in an analogue horror. Greylock is seriously so well executed. I want a game version like the one we have for Mandela!!

@@Kyosumarii don’t think Mandela has as many visuals as greylock, so you may be just more imaginative than some people, and that allows Mandela to be more appealing. But I think greylock has more appeal to most because it hits a lot of bases. Religion, buried artifacts, governmental coverups, greedy conglomerates, pregnancy horror etc
Don’t think that we didn’t notice you in Santi’s recent food theory! Us loyal theorists were raised better than that
Right like... Santi really cooking on food theory eh eh see what I did there 😅
Anyone else watching GTLive more often than they used to, just to have some MatPat in their lives?
Yes
GTLive has always been my most watched of the Theorists channels, and it continues keeping on as one
Honestly this was just beginning to be my favorite theory channel when he announced it.
TBH, i'm watching them for Ash, i think they're hilarious
@@StarPichu12 me too
The special three dots are my personal favorite GTLive bit 😂❤

"ah, the screams of the children in the night" so real for that
Right when the video glitched to show the emergency broadcast, my phone, unprompted, pulled up the "cast to tv?" prompt and it scared the heck out of me
the screaming is so wholesome, when matpat applauded! 😊😊
What do you mean? All I heard was [Applause]...
"Aahh the screams of the children in the night! More applause. Love it!"
And there goes another quote for the infinite MatPat out-of-context compilations
That's why there are glitches and the episodes are sorta all over the place.
lee will probably wind up explaining more about max headroom when he gets around to covering greylock.
@@nicsosa369 Oh I'm sure
"He's got the kind of face only a mother could love." Or in the words of Griffin McElroy "He's got the kind of face you could tie a boat to!"
I accidentally left my video settings to 2x speed from watching a previous video and was so confused when the intro song was speedy 😭😂
Omg I’ve been waiting for you to react to this! I’m so glad you already seem to like it! (From the beginning)
Even in retirement horror is still his top pick
Games you should definitely play.
1. In sound mind
2. Sea of solitude
3. Gylt
4. Cult of the lamb
5. Astros playroom
Cult of the lamb might be a bit too controversial and too long for GTLive, but the others sound cool.
@@heatherramirez6141 I really don't see them playing a roguelike of that sort here. Cool game, though
I love Gylt! The message, art style, and game mechanics are incredible. I would also love to see Mat play it.
Honestly, I feel like Mat should play The Desolate Hope, or other Scott Cawthon RPGs, just because I feel they should be given more attention.
In sound mind!!!!!!! Yes PLEASE
For anyone who hasn't noticed in the dark image: it's a skinned and eyeless human head.
When? There are so many dark parts.
I had a feeling Greylock was in reference to Mt. Greylock. With the MA broadcast, this is absolutely Western MA, around the Berkshires (Tanglewood & Jacob’s Pillow). I’m living for this.
I would feel so safe with Ash defending my house with a sword, are you available for hire?
When MatPat was describing an ultra sound i really wanted him to go “the old jelly on the belly” because of how he described it. I was waiting for him to say it😭
the baby really was a tulpa, it vanishing was intended to hammer that home that it was never real to begin with
Thank you, so many youtubers that have covered this don't get that.
@@joshuadurant1250 Emortal Marcus got it at the very least
Thats right. I forgot he did.
That’s what I thought
AHHH Im so excited! Ive been waiting so eagerly for the new part!!!!
Just stating the whole tape makes a lot more sense when you realize it is "Carvings in stone" not "Carvings and stone."
Edit: Apparently I'm the insane one because the official captions also say it "Carvings and stone" which I guess is just a weird way of speaking.
I thought the exact same thing but the subtitles in the tape say "and stones" too
53:32 The actual subtitles for the tape say “carvings and stone” too. It’s not just the auto generated ones.
@@krazy_kiwis
That's weird, didn't even look down there.
I had that thought too! And I had to go back and… well… now I’m just confused. 😅
MatPat casually mentioning Tulpas like we don't remember that they never finished Who's Lila? smh
No idea what that is lol
The scariest part was the thoughtform in the top right corner of the video
1:05:31 This is how I feel watching most analog horror, i can't tell what's intentional and what's just my laptop bugging out.
There's a VERY good and underrated analog horror series, "Dreams of an Insomniac", made by Pastraspec who makes a lot of horror content (analysis videos on all things horror!). I think it'd be amazing to see it show up on this channel!
Also really enjoying the Greylock videos!
Edit: I know to some there might not be enough content of it for a full video, I'm just throwing the idea out there
Matpat when children scream: 😁😁👏🎉
Naw that's me
I love applause in the middle of the night!
Like you all know it's because the captions deem it "[Applause]" right?
Video 110 of asking Mat to play “The Unfinished Swan”. It gives more story to one of the characters in “What Remains of Edith Finch”.
Ignore the kid above me and report him
Think I remember that one. Stampy played it years ago.
I’m really enjoying the analog horror series! thanks for the video gtlive!💛💚❤️
I LOVED Max Headroom. SUCH a great show.
You can tell he’s entered his dad pat phase by the 5 o clock shadow 😂
Can you imagine a EAS on your TV saying "If you are currently home, please leave immediately, taking only essentials."
And go where? What is a Cinemark? Is it a real place?
I know of cinema but...?

This was one of the best GTLive videos yet, there were some DEEP thoughts in there. Hope we continue this series, I'm super intrigued to see where this is leading
Its almost like we can still hear mat 😔
You had to say that, huh
It’s fascinating to me how many analog horror series feature either pregnancies that get terminated or mothers losing very young children. So far, I have seen it in Monument Mythos Greylock, and the Mandela Catalog
Amy standing outside guarding the door with a sword
Wasn't that ash?
0:01 ah the screemes of the children in the night
That got me rolling on the floor laughing 🤣🤣🤣
That wasn't funny despite this happening right now irl...sometimes I forget that some people don't live on the same planet as we do..
Matpat: Man they are speedrunning this home invading business
My Brain: Write that down
One thing I’d like to mention about the face at 26:18 is a similar effect I feel that also explains the shiny look over the face that could give a similar look without being “lizard like” is putting plastic wrap or a clear bag over the face and pulling. It would force the upturned nose, the sort of blurry look and the shininess around the high points of the face for where the plastic stretches
Can we talk about Ash standing outside of Mat's door with a sword?
So happy they're continuing this series!
Absolutely love the fact that the Toad Sinatra cover is watched fully
I love that Matt can be active in at least one of these channels just to have fun and nerd out over things
Scruffy-Mat has almost reached critical levels of hipster dad energy.
YESSSS perfect timing to get me through the last leg of the work day! I was also just thinking about this, let’s goooo!!
Hey, just wondering if you could start numbering these sometimes?
I love these videos but it’s hard to keep track of things and order of videos sometimes
God I love Ash 😂 she’s the absolute best part of the team. Surely someone has made a comp of Ash and her best moments
Does anyone else think a MatPat/Wendigoon collab would be sick?
the channel has an awesome recommended list to the side ngl, just something i randomly noticed when mat went out of fullscreen lolol
The max headroom incident cultutally is the creator of analog horror.
I just got home from a very tiring art field trip, and a GTlive video is exactly what I need
Thank you!! 💚💚💚

MatPat: LETS GO
Its so refreshing to be able to talk about the special three dots in the open. Its been so stigmatized. Rock on Ash for breaking convention. Let the special three dots finally be out in the open for all to acknowledge.
It is so weird seeing Matpat with facial hair.

Mat Frewer. The actor's name is Mat Frewer. And Max Headroom is Frewer in makeup.
Perfect to end my birthday watching gt not live episode on analog horror
44:40 remember, that in the info video they say even other ppl can see someone else’s thoughtform. i’m not sure about the “being confronted with it made it disappear” bit since both her and the nurse were confirmed of its existence so there’s no reason for her to suddenly realize it doesn’t exist. unless! it’s just because thoughtforms are inconsistent in their corporeal forms so it wasn’t able to stay for very long bc it wasn’t strong enough, which would make sense-the clip just made it seem like something else caused it to disappear.
We love you, MatPat.
You are the Voice of a Generation ✊😎
1:08:30 What I personally believe is, Simiodyn is tampering with their phones so that they can't call for help or anything. They knew about the cave and what was in it, and they hired the mining crew to release what was inside. I also believe that the people who are breaking into the houses and killing people are the miners who were transformed by the effects of the cave - which again, was most likely what the company wanted, perhaps for some ritual or something.
Now when we talk about aggressive windows, are we also taking into consideration the terrain on the inside? Because that could also make it very difficult to enter
5:10 "If your internet is not creamier than it was before" The innuendo king strikes again 👑 🍦
16:12 "It's such a weird piece of cultural arcana" Yeah, I'd never heard/seen Max Headroom (or even the term "cultural arcana", which refers to obscure or esoteric knowledge within a specific culture).
