Please do not make complaints about a knife that is specifically designed for slashing and piercing. This is a combat knife with a hollow ground bevel, thus, straight downwards chopping on a apple will not be accomplished with great success.
+4920616d206177616b65 This is NOT a combat knife nor was it designed for piercing. Pay attention please. It is a lightweight boot knife which has a reinforced point for durability. The secondary point makes it quite a nasty slasher though. 1 out of three is fail.
Very useful video. I was actually wanting to buy such a knife for cooking while camping, because I love the tanto shape. I’m not a seal or some sort of undercover warrior, so I was not exactly looking forward to damage people with it, so now I’ve changed my mind, thanks for that :)
the Cold Steel Kobun Tanto knife was made in Japan the best type of steel depending on the amount of forges the knife has But it's still a good quality knife KOBUN Blade Length: 5 1/2" Overall Length: 9 7/8" Steel: Japanese AUS 8A Stainless Weight:4.4 oz Blade Thickness: 1/8"
+Bazzerker Joe No, it's not. All of their swords are high carbon steel which is more durable in the longer blades. None of the swords are stainless. FYI.
+GrinderMagee but I have seen demonstrations with the Cold Steel Kobun Tanto knife it's quite durable like the Master Tanto knife Cold Steel is stronger than the original steel that you see with other knives being sold in counterfeit stores that imitate the product I'm buying the Kobun Tanto knife on the Cold Steel website and that's a reliable company that makes great knives I never buy a knife in a counterfeit store I buy the real thing
i don't buy in to the whole "secondary tip" idea, meat is very soft and any decently sharp object will do damage. and to get through a stab "proof" vest toy actually need to do a stabbing motion to generate the force required
You know that this is for self defence right? Like, the whole point of a japanese tanto is to absolutely rip an enemy apart. Why do you think that the japanese desinged their katanas to have tantopoints in the first place? Exactly fucking right! For absolutely destroying enemy flesh and armour ofcourse! Oh and by the way, i know this is called a tanto but like damn, its NOT a kitchen knife🤦♂️
Bella Wiebz to be fair at this time stamp it was a sandwich not a fruit. I have this knife and really like this it but it’s simply not made for these taste which is why it doesn’t do them very well
Imagine talking about ridiculous is a fish walking. Exactly, because a fish is made to swim and not to walk. So imagine talking about how bad is this knife at cutting fruit or cooking purposes when this knife is not to cook 🤡

My bad... i thought this was the recon tanto.
@@GrinderMagee And 6 years later you have 500 subscribers. You don't know what you're talking about.
It is 100% designed for stabbing and slashing, that’s what a boot knife is used for. Didn’t think I’d ever have to explain that.
Who buys a cold steel knife as a kitchen knife lmao
Savage ...I believe CS makes a line of kitchen knives. "Cold Steel Classics".
cool
I use cs finn wolf and finn bear at kithcen and they are amazing
The real question is, who cares?

It’s a FIGHTING KNIFE! 🤦🏻♂️ Would you use a scalpel to butter your toast? Or cleaver to whittle? It’s perfectly designed for its intended purpose.
*Lay Off The Coffee before you do a Review Dude... Really.*
primarily a weapon, not for apples etc unless they are V Dangerous apples LOL.
I have this for part of my edc and it’s amazing

It's the same type of steel that they make their swords

This is not that great if steel, when they start using something better like s45v maybe I'll buy
Love the commentary..
You float in and out of character very well 😂

Of course it's not a good slicer, it wasn't designed to slice. Pointless to compare these two knives to one another.
Yeh, it doesn't slice apples as good as a small and thin fruit kitchen knife..what a surprise.
I never had a knife that doesn't cut apples 🍎 even CS FGX Grivory can cut apples 🍎.. 😂😂😈
Great review, kind of wanting to buy this tanto knife but now I am holding it.
please do more video and recommend what fixed blade good on EDC.
TQ
As always a beautiful blade grind on the CS.

Love the review! Now I'm waiting for the Tactical Kitchen tv show...
🤣🤣🤣 you used it as a saw on that apple
good review
P.s. i just got in from driving 224 miles r.t. to pick one of these up.
pretty amusing video. I love my kobun.
Obviously you should have the serrated version, you'd never survive in the kitchen alone!!
great video very helpful!
+Anthony Suskie Glad to help. Thank you for the comment!
So much hate :D I actually liked this video quite a bit. I'll watch the others.
One could do most food tasks with this knife. However, the user of the knife must have basic knife skills.
7:20... dull knife blade.
It's not dull, it's just not designed for deciding or cutting fruit. It's great for slashing throats though.
Bella Wiebz to be fair at this time stamp it was a sandwich not a fruit. I have this knife and really like this it but it’s simply not made for these taste which is why it doesn’t do them very well
this guys funny as shit
Cold steel: making most of the worst designed knives for decades

I'll get my Kobun tomorrow
What was this ?😂😂😂😂😂😂
waste of time
knife2
What's upwith all the haters? This video wasn't so bad that it deserves a downvote.
Really bad review. Silly.
