I would recommend it to anyone. These kids have real talent. It's nice to see where they came from. Seeing them be so successful kinda makes ya feel proud of them.
I get an almost Bjork vibe from Rhian. A beautiful clear tone with lots of power; thankfully she was quirky enough to make this magic. A wonderful collab for us!
This video needs to be the goto answer for those (me included) questioning the longevity of Wet Leg and what they might do next. Wonderful array of sounds and vocal talents that points to a longer career than expected, the future is exciting!
not necessarily that long as most of the posts I see are from old fuckers like me. I drive cab at night, gonna see if I can remember how to burn a CD and play this loud for my younger clients and see the reaction.
its unheard of... to listen to an entire album like I did and not find one song thats lacking. Its stunning and brings some hope to a generation sliding into the oblivion of ticktok.
First time I saw Rhain (as she was then) was singing Saturn with Plastic Mermaids. It just blew me away. I followed her solo career after that and hope it doesn't just disappear. She deserves all the success that comes her way. Btw the Isle of Wight has a great music scene with some very inventive bands
Very interesting stuff, especially the Kate Bush-like material by Rhian. I love Wet Leg, such a cool band, the best thing that's happened in rock in years! Keep going! From France with love.
Fascinating. Rather than the musical equivalent of spontaneous combustion, Wet Leg is actually the end result of a rather long and circuitous process. Thank you for sharing this.
Wow, what a fascinating montage showing just how a precious combination of youthful energy, exceptional musical talent, creativity and perseverance to experiment with a range of musical expressions has brought Rhian and Hester together to where we are today. Super impressed with the exceptional range in Rhian’s voice - if that’s also untrained (like her piano playing admission) then wow, the potential for the band’s vocals style/range is stellar (this debut album could be just a taster of more creative things to come?!). With a surprising depth of experience gained across a range of musical collaborations packed into the last 10 years or so coupled with writing all their own music for such a consistently solid and memorable debut album (and a tough act to follow imho) the future looks exciting for Wet Leg and us fans who appreciate their unique and fresh style in what is frankly a mostly vanilla and forgettable mainstream music formula that has dominated commercially in recent years. Thank you Wet Leg for re-igniting my musical enjoyment of late. Thanks for sharing. 💦🦵❤️
Thanks for putting this together. It would help to put dates on each clip as they have been slogging away for about a decade. One of the early clips is of Rhian performing something 9 years ago and it makes you wonder how she would have felt then, as if she was very close to breaking through but still about 7 years away from Chaise Longue. In one of the Plastic Mermaid clips she is singing with two other backing singers @11.23 (this is after the Saturn clip) and you can half imagine her thinking "I don't want to be singing backup".
Thank you for this vid. Nice to know Hester & Rhian didn't just land on this Earth from another planet - although that would explain a lot . . . - but that they have history and experience behind them. Kinda explains why their Chaise Longue video, while definitely amateur, was so well put together.
Wow. I already thought Rhian had great range and unique character in Wet Leg, but her early solo work showed just how much is still in reserve. Reminded me a little of Joanna Newsom.
Joanna Newsome is bizarre, not good bizarre, normally I like bizarre, just kinda freakishly white weird bizarre. Can't really explain but not my cup of tea.
@@DiZastur Joanna’s voice is definitely an acquired taste, but if you dig in to her older albums and get used to her voice you’ll find some of the greatest, most beautiful song writing around.
I am now feeling really old! Wet Leg are great I just assumed they were kids who hit the jackpot, not seasoned journeyman musicians who were long overdue for some success for their fabulous abilities. Hopefully there will be much more for us all to enjoy in the future.
Love what they have brought to the table......humour fun and real talent... nice to see your roots... ...now for that all difficult 2nd album.... which now watching this will be fire!!!!!!
Rhians voice is spectacular she must have had opera training. Hester is amazing and they both have been for years. Thanks so much for putting this together!
Wow, wow, WOW! Great background. My whole family has fallen for Wet Leg. So cool to see their back-story. What seemed like "instant success" was a long grind through countless (awesome) projects. Reminds me of how Afie of Bahamas worked his way to success as a hired gun for Feist and others before finding his success.
Naaa, there's so much more to come. They have such depth, as provided in this video. Wet Leg is their break, but come back to this band in future years and we'll see so much more vision! We're all rightly excited about them!
I’m super stoked of this band! I know I’m one of their biggest fan. I was disappointed when they canceled the September show in Louisville but I will be there In December when they com to headliner in Louisville KY.
Great stuff, and well edited. I hadn't seen a lot of these clips. It's fascinating to see the difference between those days and now. I really like the sense of joy that they project, and there's clearly a lot of talent there, just waiting to find the right outlet. Thanks!
A real eye opener, but would have liked to have heard how they ended up brining the strong humour element into what they do - to me, that’s the biggest key to their success.
There has been a fair amount of stick given to Wet Leg regarding their "sudden" rise in popularity and being one hit wonders. I can't think of another recent band who has done such a massive "world tour" over a year (and still going), to promote their album. It's the old-school hard graft as bands used to do. Chuck your equipment in the back of a Transit and off you go. Their album is fun and a bit quirky. A breath of fresh air amongst the dross that claims to be the popular music of today!
Deano . Great to see how the whole wet leg thing came about they are truely breath of fresh air they don't take it to serious and they are having fun, long may it last reminds me a bit bjork early stuff but better !!
How refreshing to see and hear young people with talent, who've done the time, the gigs, making it without having to prostitute themselves to Mr Cowell and his gangstas, by appearing on a Got Talent show! As a 60 plus grumpy old white male, who lived through the Ska, Blue Beat, Punk explosion, I'm loving it! More please!
Talking about Cowell. Best thing that happened to Subo was Cowell!! Financially minted by singing other artistes songs Btw she sang in the social clubs for years. 👍
Nice one. Brilliant range & creativity, as others have said. ... Bloody hell, just seen the church scene then the Jagga Jazzist/Go Team bit. Head blown now.

Amazing. Their early projects sound awesome. I would love it if they got properly released, especially Rhians Kate Bush sounding stuff. Thank you for this video. What I find annoying is all the bitter people calling them industry plants. They've clearly grafted with multiple musical projects for years, and they are super talented. They deserve the fame and hype
Yeah I’ve been watching them for a long time and had the pleasure of sharing the bill with them both in several of their various projects over the years. They’re both brilliant musicians and people. It’s been wonderful seeing how wet leg have taken off. They both deserve all the fortune that comes their way.
Great to see their back story and even better to know that they didn't appear out of the ether fully formed. And even more hope that that they'll go their own way and enjoy making music their way than bowing to public pressure to make another Chaise Long. Go girls!

Excellent. I've been watching quite a lot of the pre-Wet Leg stuff, but there were a few clips in this that I hadn't seen. I assumed Rhian was classically trained on the piano for some reason, it's even more impressive though, if she was self taught!

Don't worry, people said the same about Artic Monkeys
I hope people will stop calling them "industry plants" now. They're talented and worked hard to get where they are at
Rhian has an amazing voice. The piano stuff really showed it off.
She is amazing
Her operatic singing on Saturn by the Plastic Mermaids is amazing!
Yea, I didn’t know that. Great voice.
It makes sense that she'd be awesome. She's doing a lot in the Wet Leg vocals, but it's easy to miss because she does it so effortlessly.
Yeah, I've been kind of hooked on her song Time Traveler. Great lyrics
