    All the temp agencies are filled with desperately unemplyed workers, but if you look around the city , there's unimaginable amounts of construction happening everywhere. What gives?

    I feel so bad for those in the construction industry, they're really floundering. Even beyond, we have so many friends home through layoffs. I suppose this is just the beginning of the global recession. I hope the Conservatives can turn things around so people can work, eat and house themselves.

      Conservatives can’t do much I am afraid, this is a decades long train wreck, will require decade to fix at least.

      I am looking foward to the implementation of the Common Sense Conservative program ...10 percent flat tax for all, small government means end of all programs (CPP, OAS, CCB, GIS etc) and federal departments, tax collection to be done by each province and they will decide how much to transfer to Ottawa, federal government will operate at the generosity of the provincial coffers. Finally, the people of each province can decide their own destiny. No more bickering over federal money. A new form of federalism emerge and everyone can pay their own way. That's the Canada we all want ...take care of yourself and we will all be fine.

    In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.
    There are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions, welfare, unemployment benefits, disability benefits and the numerous other programs, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.
    Multiculturalism destroys the fabric and identity of a country. Socialism bankrupts a country.

      Do you still have the article up? I would love to read and share it around. I agree with your views. Forced diversity isn’t our strength…and socialism will only work until you run out of other people’s money

    As an IT consultant/software engineer for over 20 years I'll give you a clear example of the de-evolution in productivity and wage stagnation in my field. So .. why does a senior software engineer in Toronto make 110-120k vs 160-170k in Texas vs 240-300k in San Francisco? From the top .. San Francisco 's cost of living is much higher than Texas so they pay more to attract and retain talent (at least they used to -it's changing) .. Now Canada .. cost of living compares strongly to California.. Toronto and Vancouver compare directly with San Fran.and LA. But our wages are ridiculously low. WHY ??? Supply and demand. Canada has made it so incredibly easy to immigrate / work in Canada that software developers are a dime a dozen. However with Canada's excessive immigration driving up rents and home prices .. we have low wages but extreme high shelter costs .. a world leading cost of living. .Many I speak to say they feel like slaves as their net after taxes, rent or mortgage is very low. Many can't afford kids. Now given the low wages .. who has money saving power to spend and grow the economy .. or start new ventures (like so many do in San Fran)? Where is the big investment from companies ? It is not here because of Canadian corporate tax levels (vs US 20%).. Back to worker productivity. Who wants to work 60 hrs a week (20 hrs unpaid) or find new efficient solutions or innovations .. to get a tiny raise ? Why bother .. just show up and get paid is what most are doing. ... PRODUCTIVITY is incentivized on both ends.
    US companies with Canadian ops don't invest in high paying R&D in Canada.. they use Canada as a back office operation with cheap labour. . They lobby the immigration ministers complaining they can't fill jobs which is a total fallacy. Anyways .. dumb government really destroyed Canada with poorly planned immigration levels. Immigration has to be kept in line with housing otherwise you create feudalism. Fraser - Miller are unbelievably incompetent. Lastly .. ask why Doctor's via the Canadian medical association have made it so difficult for immigrant doctors to practice in Canada. Unlike Fraser and Miller .. they listened in Econ 101 ... supply and demand. Over supply would reduce their wages. Funny how Canadian universities are not producing more doctors ?? Smart - self preservation. Unions and trade certification (construction) .. similar. Government workers are unionized .. go figure and grow their wages. Balance is key. Imbalance with excessive immigration is what we have and it's terrible for productivity. Canadians are de-incentivized.. quickly getting to Soviet or Cuban communist levels by end decade. What a disaster.

      Excellent points, couldn’t agree more.
      All of your points goes back to the government and their policies. As I said in my video, we need the government to get out of the way, and let the free market do its job, but this whole protectionism, red tape, bureaucracy will not go away easily.
      It’s so shocking we have no ferry service between Niagara and Toronto Union station, it’s takes 3 hrs of drive commute, another example of utter incompetence government. If they can’t deliver then let the free market take the lead.

    Yasin - thanks for the laugh. When you said get a job in the financial service sector where Canada is productive - at a bank or other - haha. First off the sector - as seen in your slide involves a ton of real estare , rental and leasing .. and Canada - with huge immigration is doing really well for landlords, Air BnB operators property managers, and related. In Vancouver people in this sector can rent a bedroom for 125-175 a night. That is very high productivity ! Most don't even include a TV !! So yes Canadians .. join the tourism and immigrant farming business. BTW .. the same Vancouver bedroom before the 2022 immigration pump was $75 a night.. still steep but not nearly as productive as now ! Go Canada !

      Oh ya ! Canadian entrepreneur .. 100 hrs a week .. struggling. Airbnb rent a room or Brampton basement slumlord .. not struggling. Doing so well they are yacht shopping. What a country. Dumb ! This is not sustainable folks.

    • @YasinNizami
      @YasinNizami  Місяць тому

      That was a short ride I guess. Do you think with recent law changes against short term rental, is it really productive anymore?
      One of the reason the financial sector did well is they have some sizeable exposure to the US.

    I work at one of the largest GC’s in Canada and let me tell you we are making record profits. That being said our projects consist of government services from hospitals, water and wastewater treatment, road, bridges etc. I can imagine if we were focused on commercial or residential construction we would be hurting really bad.

    • @YasinNizami
      @YasinNizami  Місяць тому +3

      That’s it, the government is spending it through running fiscal deficits, so yes your company is making profits but is that government spending profitable? That’s the question

    • @davidqian3337
      @davidqian3337 Місяць тому +1

      Government projects are more protected than commercial or residential construction project, that's the main reason why.

    Canada’s federal government failed to prepare for the retirement of the largest cohort. The boomers are no longer major consumers in the economy. This deficit of spending and productivity shows with waning growth. The only thing that has propped up GDP is mass immigration. Unfortunately this exacerbates the issue as per capita GDP has fallen in line with net retirements.
    Unfortunately, I can’t see any way to avoid a recession.
    We’re looking at stagflation or deflation as the new norm.

  • @SROUMALD

    What a surprised , construction need to go down they inflated the prices without control and with no good reason

    • @YasinNizami
      @YasinNizami  Місяць тому +1

      It’s the government red tape, bureaucracy, permit fees and taxes. Every new project has roughly 25% government take.

  • @charlesrobb6912

    Mass immigration reduces the incentive to invest in productivity and increases construction at the expensive of productivity investment.

      @@YasinNizami I dont regret being born here, but i am curious how it would be to born in a different part of the world. I didnt think about that until the last decade.
      Our standard of liviving has gone down so much already, i wonder how we stack up to other countries. I mean, there must be better places for the wage/cost of living ratio. Canada taxes the life out of everyone.
      Not sure i would leave if i could. But i would think about it seriously.

    You need to look at the impact of North American Free Trade on capital investment. Canada is seen as a branch operations by business. Thus, capital investment is less likely to happen at rhe branch. If business can produce in the US and sell freely in Canada, why manufacture in Canada?

  • @Dinoknows007
    @Dinoknows007 Місяць тому

    The massive US government spending in hundreds of billions - many times more than Canada's - is the reason why growth in US is strong.

    • @YasinNizami
      @YasinNizami  Місяць тому

      Yes but proportional. The US population is 10 times more than Canada and Canada also ran proportionally higher fiscal deficits and still doing it.

    • @Dinoknows007
      @Dinoknows007 Місяць тому +1

      @@YasinNizami I have no issue with fiscal deficit ( you don't run government like a household ) because I think we need to have an adult conversation on whether we want the country to operate like the US (minimal tax-funded programs to support the people) or we move towards the social democratic model. We like tax cuts but also public programs. We can't have both. Canadians need to decide ...are we better off paying for life essential like healthcare, childcare, education, pension with taxes or everyone for themselves.

      Canada was ranked in the top 10 for nearly every "best for" list that US News and World Report analyzed, including education, transparency, raising a family and starting a career. Canada also ranked 6yh for a comfortable retirement.
      Canada ranked #5 in the quality of life ranking and #4 overall. Is Canada broken?
