This is how you do a cover, not the usual original tracking blasting to the point you could just air guitar it or play a broomstick & it wouldnt matter!
I agree! Another way to do covers that I used is to have just the right or left side of the original track as a mono track, then to drastically reduce frequencies of the guitar, and record in stereo.
Damn. That was like, a 1-take album recording quality session. At the end of the day, this will always be My favorite song of theirs. You nailed it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I can't help but wonder if this is the first metal 7 string song by a well known band. This was pretty early on tbh. I haven't found any earlier examples.
In the rock/metal scene, Steve Vai was the first to use 7 string guitars in 1990. He initially worked with Ibanez to create the first 7 string electric guitar. Then yes, I've never heard any other metal band using 7 string before Morbid Angel on Covenant.
Yes I touch the string at the fret of the harmonics. Rather hard to describe with words haha. it's different from doing tap harmonics on classical guitar, where you touch the string with the index at the harmonics and pick the string with the middle finger. Here it's just touching and picking at the same time with the index.
Dear Patrik, please make a video where you show slowly the hammer on pull of riff/part of both guitars. There is a riff where I see you sliding with the left hand. No one can figure out what happens there. I think you are the only person who can play Morbid‘s stuff correctly after George and Erik
Many thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you like what I do with my MA covers. I'm not really into doing tutorial videos, but this tapping part is actually just slightly touching the string with the right hand to make the octave harmonics of the note played with the left hand ring.

Absolutely! I thought I was the only one who was sick of those covers. If I wanted to listen to the original, I'd play the studio version...
Awesome cover bro. Can’t believe it’s been 30 years since Covenant was released. I remember it like yesterday. 🤘🏼
Masterpiece
Said it before and I'll say it again, you are the only one I have ever seen nail his shit perfectly.
Many thanks, it's been years of dedication to Trey's work and Morbid Angel!! And I'm glad you think that I'm nailing it perfectly.

One of my favorite songs of theirs, and my favorite from Covenant. Thank you!
Thanks for helping figure out how to do those natural harmonics. I had an idea, but was trying to create the node and pluck it with my picking hand.
Dude this is awesome, I thought you were playing over the original track at first with it being so accurate!
Thank you for your appreciation!!
amazing as always ! the guitarist that need to be in Morbid Angel with Trey !
Hehe many thanks, that would be so awesome!!
More like replace Trey, when I saw them in play in April he came on stage drunk and high and collapsed on stage after the third song
@@jimstone8842 Oh you've witnessed this live...😕I've only been able to see this on YT, they're not even touring in Europe anymore...

A tremendous amount of work to transcribe and play this kind of music. Great job - hails to you! Looking forward to new covers.

Wow!!! Perfectly played with great tone and some nice swing to the rhythm playing. You made that look easy!
Thank you!
Well executed sire! You have strange picking style, like Rob Barett from Cannibal Corpse
Thank you!! Haha never paid attention to Rob Barett's picking style
Love it! That has got to be one of the heaviest songs ever!
Morbid Angel have the ability to do such heavy songs!!
I didn't know they played 7s and standard no less...very nice
Yes they were the 1st death-metal band to use 7s, first time on Covenant!
Great song to choose
So impressive! Thank you for such a great guitar cover of this legendary song.
Thanks to you for having taken the time to watch my cover and for your appreciation! Legendary song from a legendary album!

Many thanks for your comment! I've been feeling inspired by Trey on so many levels!!
Are you doing tap harmonics here Patrick? It doesn't look like it .,but most of the tabs say that it's tap harmonics.

This sounds downtuned?
A-sharp tuned seven-string 👍
