  • pellet testing some known good batches of jsb,fx and qys pellets through the new XTi50.
    i'm a fortnight into owning it and starting to really get the hang of it now. the performance out the box is fantastic and as soon as the weather improves i will get into some more detailed batch testing,including with the new h&n 8s
    it really is proving easy to shoot and get some really decent performance out of.
    i failed hard try a benchrest target, it was fun but alot harder than it looks...
    the scope is an optisan cp hft but i will swap it over to the discovery ed prs scope shortly for an increase in magnification.
    ive shot it hft prone and did a few kneelers on film, i need to practice more!

      Cheers mate, I'm starting to get the hang of it now, its been a very easy transition from the 9015.
      The hft prone and kneelers are a struggle still as can't hold it very well still,but not too shabby to start with😉

    Very impressive. I would have thought the ZAN slugs would have been a better bet than the knock Outs with your past experience with them. Lovely rifle though, but then again it should be for the money. Missed the goat and the geese 😂👍

      Hi mate, I've got some zans here for a slug test in time in the xti. I had the MK1 jsb slugs here and was just curious mainly, hence they just got a mention and not made the final edit.
      I actually dug out the old cards with the jsb slugs and the xti was slightly better than the Anni barrel with the same ammo. I hope the MK2 jsb slugs are better still.

    I would have allowed at least 20 shots to re-lead the barrel after cleaning it. Notice how your groups got tighter the more lead you put down it.

      Yes mate, it has the same factory fitted reg as the regged ultimate sporters. Works great in the xti so far and has been used successfully in the sporters for a few years now😉

    How have you fitted the bipod on, is it on the hamster or rail at front.

  • @davidschofield387
    @davidschofield387 Рік тому

    Vid was nice, although I did immediately see a big problem with your setup, The manual specifically state Not to mount a bipod onto the hamster mechanism but to use the stock mounted rail for such uses, I would suspect your groups would be tighter without lateral movement from the hamster.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Рік тому

      Hi Dave, yep you are correct about cobbling the bipod onto the hamster mech. My little picatinny bipod adapter is a touch too long for the uit rail up front in the stock. I'm working on a solution for that, I don't know if you will notice but I've fitted a packing piece for the moment between the front wheel of the riser mech and the stock to spread the load directly to the stock, that's why the gap between stock and hamster is slightly enlarged for the moment 😉
      It does group marginally tighter too when shot off a soft front bag over the current bipod setup. But with my hand as it is,I'm struggling to support the rifle upfront without the bipod on
      Cheers
      Tommy

    It's obviously very good but other than the stock adjustability, i dont see how it's any better than a ftp900, ev2 or hft500.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  Рік тому +1

      Well reality is we are probably at peak air rifle now. The consistency of most the high end stuff now is just incredible. We need advances in pellet tech to really push the boundaries of our sport nowdays.
      It's a viable proposition if you are in the market for a 9015/Steyr. And you won't have to void the warranty to make it work in the UK weather.
      It'll be great to see them hit the br circuits in time, especially with the alutec and action only options to follow.
      I'm very happy so far and it's only getting better and easier to shoot as I'm becoming more familiar with it 😉

    • @xWILZTAx
      @xWILZTAx Рік тому

      @@tillysgunstocks I agree, it's already winning in hft comps and also interested in its BR capabilities. Keeps the vids coming. Great if you could somehow organise a vid to compare either all the top range air arms together, or anschutz vs walther vs air arms, vs fwb.

      It effectively closes up the aim points for the longer shots. Trade off is more holdover at the very closest ranges but for typical longer ranges it's well worth going up a bit 😉

I might be wrong but then I dont have the bragging rights on how much I spent to shoot a hole in a paper target at 25 metres or a knock down target a 30 Go back to the mid 80's when field target was just that, field guns at field targets not this modern day high price mine is better than yours nonsense !
