      That's insane to me, like, even after Jerry said it, it took me a few more seconds to figure out why was it fancy, maybe five times what took Magnus. He didn't even blink, holy shit!

      @@joaoresende6589 Rook captures queen, pawn captures rook, king moves because the pawn puts him in check, pawn captures queen. White is now playing one rook vs 2 black rooks, so it's a lost game

    I dont really comment on Videos, but this is the most entertaing chess i have ever seen. Superb commentary, and a fantasic magnus, so resourcefull, creative, inbetween moves etc. Super job!!!

      He is good. However, in my opinion, there are some other guys that make their commentary at least not worse than him. I'd say it's just a matter of preferences.

      MrYuryZ I totally agree. Yassir, Hansen and Rensch (to name a few) are without a doubt great commentators as well. There is just something about jerry's videos that makes the experience so smooth yet entertaining and fun.

      Probably be moving straight onto the hard stuff when he meets Caruana.
      LOL. I don't think he actually gets drunk, but it must be absolutely frightening for the top flight players.

      When he played with maninavan he was allegedly playing in a, you guessed it, in a van. Not in the entire tourney. The man is a beast.

    I'm starting to learn chess, purely because your videos are so good to watch!
    I actually bought a chess set to use as a prop in a friends escape room (I'm am electronic engineer and rigged it up with magnets in the pieces and reed switches below it to open a lock when the pieces were placed on it) and YT recommended me chess videos as a result. Now I'm actually playing, and really enjoying learning.

    My dude, i love you, i mean, your voice is super cool, you're capable of making good commentary on super short games which is freaking crazy, while keeping all your calm which is even crazier, you're amazing, i watch your videos to get asleep, well i sometimes stay awake way too much lol

    Isn't 5:59 a draw? White just never lets the black king off of that a file. I guess pawn moves could make the white king give way, but I think she can get under, then black wins the race to the remaining pawns?

      After the white king takes opposition on f6, black makes a pawn move and takes opposition, then the king sneaks out and promotes

    It seems a lot of the participants were experiencing network issues and slight lag throughout the tournament, so that might have factored in to a few time issues or disconnections.

      there is a checkmate with a knight each other, for instance Kg6, Ne5 and Kh8 and the following move is Ng8, so you can get it playing Nf7#

    Would be funny to see a little reverse psychology. At 36:37, if mutdpro moved the king back instead of blocking with the knight, Carlsen would have pre-moved that pawn anyway. Then take the pawn with the knight and trade minor pieces after if Carlsen takes.

    @ 50 minutes in Magnus looks to have a very shaky position against Astaneh, probably lost in longer time control with all those weaknesses. He proceeds to just push him off the board however. Absolutely stunning to see the WC's will to win in some of these games. Commentator blamed it on the fast time control, but I think its mostly because Carlsen is who he is..
