Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.
I got one about a month ago and my knives have never been sharper. My Chef's Choice electric knife sharpener doesn't hold a candle to it. By the way, it does not sharpen serrated knives so I'm keeping my electric.
I just got mine. It’s the real deal. The leather is a must. If not from tumbler get it from Amazon. But the leather is a must. 😅 It removes if there’s any burr on the knife and that polish works to clear up any fine pieces left over from the sharpening. It’s just $12. Lol
I think the leather is the key to SUPER RAZOR SHARPNESS, that said after the knife is sharp I think even without the leather your going to be VERY happy with this set! That said it’s so portable as a set I won’t leave for a cookoff without the whole set!
I can assure both were well over due and the both had actual nicks in them from being in “buss tubs”. As mentioned they did send it to me to try out. That said you do t have to take my word for it if you think I’m just plugging them. There are several other videos and this system is the best I’ve used.
Full retail with strap is about $130 total but has been on sale for around $100 has a LIFETIME GUARANTEE! 100% worth every penny. The longer I have it the more I love it.
Put a 1/4" to a 1/2" (depending on blade) board or flat platform for the blade to lay on while the magnet rests on the table up against the platform. That flat platform the knife sets on gives the height needed to clear the top edge of the magnet. Still a PITA as you stated yes, because the smaller blades need to clear the top of the magnet while also having as much blade area as possible touching the magnet for maximum steadiness while sharpening. That's where the height of the platform will be important depending on blade. I don't actually own this product, so I'm purely theorizing lol! But I did watch the Tumbler's YT channel demonstrate rolling the disc sharpener on a cutting board as a platform to reach the blade height of a meat cleaver. So with that demonstration I can imagine introducing a platform for smaller blades might work as well. Maybe the magnet is stronger than I might think, diminishing my theory of the importance of platform height IDK. Highly considering snagging one for Black Friday. Pretty cool option for someone like me not patient with the sharpening stones I just got.
The Caress me down instrumental tho 👍
Great vid!
Thank you

Would your opinion change without the leather strap?

@@GWSBBQ 👍
Is this exactly the same from the horl 2 knife sharpener
@@sanchezryan7336 why are you asking this in the replies to a comment? I’m sure he’ll reply if you just leave an actual comment faster.
Didn't show the sharpness of the knives b4 sharping them. Did they send this to you for free?

Would it work on normal and serrated pocket knifes?
I’m not sure about serrated knives but it would definitely work on pocket knives!
How much is it

@@GWSBBQ then how people are saying it's a scam ? Especially in their UA-cam video on the Tumbler
@@rudycastillo4150 not a scam. It’s based off a German product though
@@ajmerthethy6724 it's like a Chinese knockoff
Doesn’t work for SMALLER blade knives..pocket, parring, fillet knives.
what's the point of the video if you don't show the sharpness ?
You mean like the paper test I did?
It’s call a strop not a strap
Yup. Slip of the tongue. It literally says strap on the box and I read it. Realized first time watching it back.
*Strop
Yeah realized I had said that post video but fun fact the packaging actually says strap that’s why I kept saying it lol. Good catch tho!
5th to say it looks ok
It a pain in the ass if your blade is lower then the top of the magnet

It's a copy of the product of a other company
Cool. I still like it.
Someone brought this to work the other day, i tried it out and it was garbage, pull through is better, stones are better yet.
