Another awesome video,l am excited as l would be next to you in your boat.Nothing can keep my interest like catching a bunch of sunfish.l love there fight and as for table fare, one of the best.Probably best to catch and release that time of year like you are doing, keep the gene pool going.
I love the bluegill fishing! Good to let the big males and females go.
dave from dws outdoors would love those fish
Giant gills my son favorite.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Always enjoy your videos!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the comment!
Glad to see you releasing those bigger fish.
For sure...selective harvest is important to maintaining good populations and size structure.
Can you tell me when is the best time in the fall to catch bluegills? Or do they not bite in the fall?
Bluegills bite all fall long up until ice. The really start to bite good when summer water temps start to cool. On the river the relate to cover like trees and rock in light current.
Also appreciate the releasing of the big gills!
It’s important to put most of those back. Practicing selective harvest by all will only make fishing better!
@@AnglerX 100% FACT! No need to kill the giant Bulls! plenty of Medium Females to eat!
Made it out to Onalaska end of February, caught some nice fish. Would like to get back for some open water fishing. The colors are beautiful this time of the year. Always enjoy the videos.
Fishing on the lake is really good in the spring, fall and winter. The summer months the weeds can be bad but there are still some panfish around.
Thanks
We usually fish pool 12 because of where we live. Last week we had the opportunity to fish lake onalaska pool 7 for a few days. Man, what an awesome place. Caught so many different species. We really appreciate your videos and how you share your spots and techniques. Best of luck to you sir! 👍
Thank you! I’m glad to hear you had a good experience on the lake. You just never know what you’re going to catch when fishing the Mississippi River!
Another great video.
I’m glad 😀 you are not keeping those giant blue gills.
I’m also glad that they lowered the daily bag limit.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the comment. The lower bag limits should help the fishery.
Good video friend
Thank you!!!

Shoot me a message! I’m ready to 🔨!
We’re gonna be trying pool 9 for possible walleye and maybe bluegill this weekend. We’ll see if there are any weeds in the backwaters or if there are any walleye in the main channel!
Nice! Good luck out there!
Great looking gills and great episode! What spinning rod is that? It looks like a great panfish setup.
5’9” fast light action rod from 13 Fishing
what size is your terrova? Looking to add one for spot lock my boats similar to yours so was curious what you had.
80 lb 24 volt
I love finding those big bluegills on Lake Onalaska. But...Is it just me or is that slimy, green algae draped all over the weeds much worse this year than last year or previous years?
Agreed! There is definitely more slimy weeds. I've heard that its from all the runoff and high waters that we have has the last few years.
What’s lure are you using?
Northland Whistler Jig 1/32 oz.
I'm so sad this would have been a great subscriber episode
😂 indeed...you a panfish guy too?
Hit me up on instagram if you want to get together for some big bluegills! You know how much I love to fish for them lol
My next couple of weekends are busy but I definitely want to get out fishing with you.
