WWI-era Fashion Recreation + CHANNEL ANNOUNCEMENT

- I'm diving into the WWI-era/late-Edwardian-era of fashion with a dress from 1916 using pre-embroidered border cotton. I based my dress on an example from Patterns of Fashion 2 by Janet Arnold that featured a tiered skirt and several layers of embroidery fabric. I had to draft this dress from scratch, rather than use a pre-made pattern. Will I have enough fabric to make the design work? Will I finish in time before my event? Also - tune in for a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

I may not always have time to respond to all comments but know that I do read and appreciate them!
I love how sewists of modern clothing want only machine stitches showing, and historical costumers want only hand stitches showing. Don't worry about your machine button holes, the dress is gorgeous!
Your drafting skills just astound me. It turned out great! I love the look of lingerie dresses...but I am too much chaos to wear them 😂
What a lovely dress. I do really do like this time period as well. And you're right. It's not something, you would attract a crazy amount of attention in, when wearing it in public. People would probably give you a 'once over', but it kinda walks that line between obvious historical fashion and a modern garment, inspired by it.
After seeing the dress in person, you would never know the challenges you had in the construction. It turned out beautiful.
Great dress and accessories! I have the Folkwear Armistice pattern too and now I'm going to have to use it. Love this era as well!! 🥰
My favorite fashion time! My grandmother told funny stories about wearing those hobble skirts! I love 1913-1919. Practical and feminine. Yours is fabulous. Love your videos!!!
Thank you for watching!
Oh! It came out so pretty. The 1910 to 1922 is my favorite era. I have been working to aquire patterns from this era. Not so much the fancy things, but the every day, practical clothing that can be worn when doing every day things. Glad you are doing this era. Thank you.
I love this era for fashion too! and yes, the “house” dresses of the the late teens and early twenties are so cute! love the gingham
Congrats on your new home! My family is listing our house on Monday and then we'll begin house hunting in earnest. It's wonderful and terrifying, best wishes to you!
I really love your dress 😊 Am looking forward to seeing what you do with your new home 💜
Congrats on the house! Love the dress
Your outfit turned out so lovely! I love the Nineteen teens (Downton Abby fan) and have started exploring clothing patterns I can make for that era. You have given me such inspiration.
Thanks! Me, too. There aren’t too many companies making patterns for the late 1910s, unfortunately, and the surviving ones are usually only one size.
I love it!
gorgeous--love it!! great job!
well done! turned out amazing. makes me want to dive into this era!
Love the dress! Congratulations on the new house
This turned out so fun and pretty, and I cannot believe you got it out of only 5 yards!!!
Oh my heavens! Those 40s cabinets!!!!!
That turned out SO cute! Very inspirational!❤❤
And the weave on that hat is stunning.
Thank you! The hat was a great find
I love this era too. And the dress looks great!
Thank you!
It's a cute look and it certainly worked well.
Thanks 😊
The dress is stunning!! You did so well with only 5 yards!!
It’s such a beautiful dress, you killed it! I love this silhouette and I think it looks amazing on you, such a gorgeous fabric~.
Oh wow, the dress is so cool! Suits you so well!
And congrats to the new home, I'd love to see how you make it cozy and beautiful :)
So pretty! I love it! ❤
I was just looking at this dress from patterns of fashion. I photocopied it so I can color it in! I had also been thinking about eyelet border fabric for the tiers. Great minds think alike! ✂️🤍🧡
I have a similar embroidered fabric that I wanted to make a 'teens blouse from. This gave me a great idea for doing mine. Thank you! Val (Costumers Guild West).
Ok I subscribed . I found your channel very informative 😊
This is such a charming dress!
OMG it's gorgeous!!!
1915ish may actually be my favourite period in fashion
I have that glass bowl light fixture (actually, I have 2 of them)!
OMG these boots in the final outfit are THE DREAM !! Where are they from ??
I may be wrong, but these boots appear to be: Everyday working boots, 1915-1920 - Cognac brown - Ruth, from a European (Denmark) based company called Memery that focuses on reproduction of historical and vintage shoes and knitwear.
Yes, they are the Memery boots. They’re great! I wear them with modern outfits as well
@@DixieDIY thanks !
A great outfit :)
you look like you could be cora from the first season of downton abbey!
