These 1930s Harleys look so much better than bikes made today that it's painful.
Seems like half the bikes in that museum are one of a kind, thats pretty cool
Thanks for teaching us so much about old motorcycles👍
Matt is like a human encyclopedia of motorcycle history. Well done!
His Father puts him to shame
Definitely! Matt and his late father Dale, may God rest his soul, were and are great American motorcycle historians and possess great knowledge of how they work and how to rebuild, restore and repair these priceless machines.
Once all of this crap is over, visiting Wheels Through Time is going to be one of my first trips! It will be a nice ride on my 83 Shovelhead FXR.
I'd love to visit also, seems like the kind of place it takes 2 days to explore it all. Wish it wasn't so far away from me in AZ.
Had a 1990 FXR many years ago..wish I had kept it
Don’t have an 83, but sitting here Thanksgiving Friday 2024 thinking the same thing about my 93 RP. 994.4 miles from my front door in Texas.
I’m so glad you guys are making these great videos. Can’t wait to come see you all when you finally open
I can't get enough of these videos and bikes. Last time I was there I only made it a 1/3 of the way around and still didn't see all that was in that third. Never made it to second floor, looking forward to the next trip.
Great place need to visit again
These videos about motorcycles from the 20s and 30s are so interesting, as Harleys of that time had quite a strong position here in Finland, too. H-D was actually one of the most common motorcycles in Finland in the 20s and the 30s. "Most common" of course in the context that the country/market was quite small, but there were hundreds of them on the road during the period 1920-1939 (and there are quite a few left, too).
H-D:s were used by police and the army. The V-twin was the most common, but the army had also a dozen of the Model W Sport Twins, 600 cc boxers (1919-1923). None of those survived, as far as I know.
The big H-D customer was the forest industry. The bikes were used in forests that could not be reached by cars, as there were no roads. They were used by to map areas to be logged, document logging projects and doing business with those who owned forests.
In winter these forest industry Harleys pulled big sleds (some of these can be found in museums), as much of the logging projects took place during the winter.
Some Harleys were of course bought for other purposes, but they were few. Some were used in long endurance races, which were quite rough in Finland, but the H-D:s did quite well.
PS. One of our presidents never had a drivers' license for car, but drove a Harley in the 1920s.
Georgous bike I just can't help but want a vintage like this it's bloody perfect
Wow, what a bike! Nice sound.
gots to visit there ,has got to be the best place on this planet to be in .
I can't believe you don't have more subscribers. I hope to visit your museum someday
Plan on at least 1 day and then you could go back the next and still see machines you hadn’t before, and great people working there with so much knowledge
yeah this channel deserves more subs!
By far my favorite channel. Can’t wait to visit in June !
That thing sounds good!! Nice bike for sure!!
This motorcycle was built for my great grandfather, Horace Woolery.
He had his own manufacturing facility in Minnesota.
Thanks for keeping his legacy alive!
❤❤❤😊
Wow! What a sweet bike. Beautiful lines; almost more British than American looking. Like a 1930s Ariel or AJS. Wonderful!
This One Really Catches Your Eye... Thanks for Sharing
Highlight of my day....Thanks...
That is awesome, i've never heard of it, that what good bout this show "learn something every day"
Beautiful bike Dale keep these videos coming
purrs pretty. quiet as well. beautiful machine.
Best channel on UA-cam
Love to see more of that purple panhead chopper at the start.
Carb was loadin up alittle to rich on the gas but spunded great all ya motorcycle are great piece of history god bless be safe
That's a great little machine. But yes Matt it really does need to be ridden. Get some heat in it and fuel through the lines.
Sounds good as I listen to it run on this cold, January night.
Such a great machine
Such a great bike
Sounds soo nice!
People have been personalizing their motorcycles for as long as there have been motorcycles. Beautiful bike. The art deco style is evident in the 30’s era Harleys. My opinion, I don’t care for the latest Harley models. I’ve added visiting Wheels through Time to my bucket list.
Thanks !
Does the bird have a significant meaning ? Great video
Wish I had one of there, one of a kind. If I didn't leave it to my son I'd put it in there museum... After I rode the crap out of it. Lol
Iv got a Flathead and the engine numbers starts with DR any idea what it is ?
Man that thing makes as much machine noise as an ironhead haha
Thats a beautiful bike
Goes 88mph so it will travel back in time?
If you guys need a test rider/ spit polisher/ janitor/ extra set of hands just let me know! I'll gladly take a bullet for the team!
Front fender doesn’t match the picture. Is it on backwards?
Where is your museum located at I'd like to come see it
Itchy they won't answer your questions here on this channel if you want to know where they're at their in North Carolina you can find them on the Internet
It's in America
Maggie Valley North Carolina. Museum is supposed to open back up April 1, 2021.
@@bradboustead1682 sounds like a joke with that date lol
@@wildman510 I have suggested Mar 31st or April 2nd.😜
Like a kitten!! Awesome man...
5:50...Only dale and Matt would have a motorcycles baby picture...See yinz in Sept. ...
Look at this one of a kind Harley Davidson silver paint!! It's the only shade of silver like it in existence. A worker in the harley factory only shit it out for two days and half of that batch was lost in a 1933 fire. Someone was huffing the silver paint and smoking cigarettes at the same time. After the fire a midget who worked for Harley found a half of a pint of the paint. Ultra rare, one of a kind, and scammed from some unsuspecting soul so it could be here in the museum.
Matt,
The Motor Company could use a man like you!
Where the hell does he find these bikes and then gets his hands on them?
Fairly silent bike for having such a short exhaust system. And idles really nicely..
Beauty
It`s a bit smokie boss idle seems to low too and You seem perplexed also .
Great motorcycle, looks like it was a head of the times .
Cool
only thing i can think that the founder would say now is that where are there state of the art racing machine....i hate seing how harley was at the forefront of racing but said fuck that and we should build slow as fuck boulevard cruiser that cant turn and brake...
To bad it was a one off, that's a cool looking machine
It's not a HD if it doesn't leak oil and leave you pushing it down the street.
We love you episodes Dad's still the man but your easy on the ears..lol
Something in my gut questions weather one ☝️ was just built . My grandfather knowledge was uncannily with Harley Davidson’s edit some one else has something similar . So many that are 1 off a kind to 1or2 off variance
Sorry bud but I can't follow what you are trying to say.
Actually one off example is not hard to believe. Guy Webb ordered it this way and Harley-Davidson built it. One off because nobody else wanted or ordered one.
"Needs ridden" I can help you with that.
How is he so knowledgeable?
One word explains it. Devotion.
@@thatsmrharley2u2 And it helps that he was born into it.
son and daddy enthusiasts..
His dad spent a lifetime collecting and researching and Matt has been around it all his life.
They made me hate history in school, if they taught this kind of history I may have passed.
I really would like to see some choppers
Comment
Don’t you have any Indian’s in this place?
They do
Several
Or Brough Superiors,Vincent's etc.
You seem to know a lot about engines ...
... and yet you call them "motors".
The word "motor" is very old, older than gas engines and electric motors both, and means something that goes. Perfectly correct usage.
That's why they call them ' motorcycles ' and not enginecycles !
When you change out an engine, do you clean up the “engine mounts” or the “motor mounts”?
Here we go again with the old "motor engine" shit. The world will never lack for pedantic nit pickers
You ever hear of General Motors or Ford motor company?
Tired of harley crap !!
