Another moment where a valuable zonk gets you into the big deal; that doesn't happen too often!
the Santa zonk was one of the best!
When that donkey took off I could tell he didn't like that fake snow getting in his eyes That was Hilarious🤓
15:25 It's Santa Claus with the Sleigh!!!
Vega station wagon... that's the car my dad owned when I was a kid. Brings back lots of memories.
Good or bad?
Rest In Peace Monty Hall
Strange episode. The couple who won $500 were not offered the big deal, but the woman who won the sleigh (was that not a zonk?) was. And what was with the $3000 gift certificate? Monty ended up giving the lady cash.
The "gift certificate" was marked "redeemable in cash". Just a way to squeeze a sponsor plug in there somewhere. :)
You're right about the Big Deal -- if someone ever got to trade a zonk for a chance at the Big Deal, it was usually after 5 or 6 other people turned it down. No idea why the couple wasn't asked.
The sleigh must have been legitimately valued at more than $500, even if only in trade-in value (the show did offer an off-stage cash payment for Zonks). A man on an episode that can be found here was #4 to be asked to trade in the trained bear he wound up with...he missed the Big Deal but still won a new car.
@@tomservo56954 this is right. There was an episode with an elephant that was "won" and the contestant was 2nd to be offered while there was a $900 winner not offered
Monty does mention that the sleigh was expensive. Just because you may get zonked doesn't mean the zonk isn't valuable enough to make you ineligible for the Big Deal.
13:05 - The Spiegel catalog for Fall/Winter 1971
those were the days this is way better than the new one monty hall is classic
This episode aired as Episode 9 of the Syndicated Run- OAD: November 13, 1971
15:21 is a clip seen on a lot of game show blooper shows. :P
It's nice seeing episodes that I've never seen before. Thank you so much 👏👏👏👏
Lol time out how the hell she got a zonk sleigh but was able to play for the big deal lmaooo thats epic
You want to make a lady happy on this show, just give her kitchen appliances. I miss you Monty Hall.
What an uproar there would be today re the first contestant's cultural appropriation and Monty's comments.
nice outfits, they should do it again with cosplayers

The dollar value of a prize is usually not the major factor in its worth. If you live in a New York City apartment, what good is a riding lawn mower to you, regardless of its dollar value? Such a prize is no more than a burden. A new piano or organ would be worthless to anyone who can't play them,j apart from their resale value. If I ever won cash on that show, I would hang on to it, regardless of the value of the Big Deal.
I had a 1974 Vega hatchback. Worst car I ever owned. :)
Does anyone know if people had to pay taxes on prizes? Does anyone know if people could trade prizes for cash?
Contestants had to pay California sales tax and federal income tax on their prizes. Prizes could not be exchanged for cash; Standards and Practices would not allow it. Of course, the contestants could sell their prizes to someone else since it was now their property.
How much was that expensive sleigh?? (zonk). Thought the Lady that had $300 should have been given a chance for big deal.
Don't suppose you have the episode where a guy dressed up in stripes (prison clothes) won a bear?
It's on UA-cam...posted by the man's daughter
@@tomservo56954 the full episode?
@@CH-gr7tn The full episode and just the man with his bear portion...
@@tomservo56954 hope I can find it then
the girl with $300 SHOULD HAVW BEEN OFERED THE BIG DEAL not the girl with sleigh also she should have the 900 from box as the second contestant was offered 2 thirds but not the last girl
I wonder what his wife thought of all the women kissing him etc.
Part of the job. He wasn’t kissing them on the lips for extended lengths of time. I could imagine his wife appreciated the salary he brought home.
love the show ,,,but carol is hot in the hot pants as well
