It would not surprise me at all if the last tune was created with the assistance of AI. There's a lot of stuff out there to write lyrics, try genres, adjust voices, and so on. A couple of things I noticed: (1) the vocalists do not seem to inhale... (2) lots of pattern chunks, (3) perfect octaves with exact voice matches, (4) sometimes an off key or misplaced note. AI does very good at interpolating between data sources to create something similar to the songs it was trained from, and it also does well to embellish or augment features by tweaking the learning knobs a certain way. But it does not do well to extrapolate toward something outside of its training boundary that results in unexplored music (or writing), and it suffers from occasional quirks or inappropriate selections of fancy words or notes. Still, if it is AI, then the engine, vocal generator, music quality, and skill in AI prompting demonstrated by this track and the other selections on Midnight Darkwave are impressive.
Totally AI in my opinion. Those lyrics are screaming to me "I'm a robot trying to describe what being a goth is like"
Whooooaahhhh... that last song came out with intensity! o.O Now I, too, must look up more on the artist. Absolutely my favorite this week. That's like an instant 'holy shit, I'm impressed' moment.
Though as sets go, I'm giving it to Gold this week- first half of it was so very club that it stood out, in a good way. Though I think that I'd not want that much industrial style every week, it came together for the set this week and I do like the harder sets once in a while. :)
*laughs* Oh Paradise, musically, you're the man, but you're so hopelessly out of synch with pop/geek culture. XD
Follow up: As far as I can tell, Midnight Darkwave (Darwave Midnight, I've also seen) seems to be a group of three digital? artists (listed as: Sigdur: Vocalist, Astrid: Synth and Vlad: Mixing, Mastering and sometimes vocal) composing vampire-themed music on a business model similar to yourselves, with the albums posted by the group's channel up on youtube- ala 'Here's the music, but we accept donations and you can buy our stuff'. To the best of my ability to tell, putting out so much music comes from there being three composers working independently together and remixing existing material- they do have a lot of remixes around the same themes. I'd swear I've heard the names of two of the members before in relation to alt fashion models, though quite some time ago, and I can't say if there's any connection. Information is scarce, they seem to be new this year, but do list themselves as artist/band. So far, all their music seems vampire-themed, and many tracks are remixes. It really makes an impression- these don't seem to be amateurs without experience, though their material isn't as expansive as it seems by album/track numbers- perhaps they've honed their skill quietly for a time before going public, and diversify the sound with separate styles?
Dancing the CAD in the national lab... but not in the glass office where I tipped over doing my chair dance years ago (and nobody saw me!)

I also get a potential AI-generated vibe from the last song. The lyrics are fairly cookie-cutter, fun but so stereotyped as pop-Goth it's almost satire. The vocal delivery feels too perfectly consistent, too even. The male & female vocal feel like they are pitch-shifts of the same pattern.
Normally we expect heavy modulation, to make vocals otherworldly... but under this suspicion, I suspect the modulation is there to hide AI choppiness.
Very interested to hear any followup about the source! I would lol, if all of the creator aliases given for the project, are, in fact, the filenames of each genre parameter.
All the suggestions or similar artists on bandcamp all have generic names like ( Gothic Piano , Time for Darkness) etc... also the blurry group photos are all the same. This music doesn't typically say the words "Gothic" in the lyrics.. ask Chatgpt to write a Gothic poem , and it will look exactly like these lyrics. Way too much reverb..AI 100%
@@haujohn hah, I forgot "gothic" was a lyric. I was too distracted by how many times "vampire" was mentioned. It's like, a T-1000 walks up to the bouncer of a nightclub and says, "Hello my Fellow Goth, vampires sure are cool, aren't they? At least that's what I've heard..."

First time discovery tonight. WOW and thank you for creating this channel. I am in awe of the creativity and evolution from the Gothic industrial and new wave music I grew up with. Wax Tax, Al Jourgensen, Siouxsie, Bay Haus and so many who broke sound and music to a new seed. Great music!

Man, EBM and industrial music are disappointing nowadays. They lack lyrics, melodic lines, and darkness; they’re not danceable, there’s no engineering, just stock FL Studio arpeggiators.
I'm interested in a medium size worker shirt...just sent an e-mail so be on the lookout for one from Thomas please! Also I listened to more HUIR tracks after hearing "Arch" on your last episode.
