WiFi 7, 6GHz bandwidth enabled and 5x 2.5gbps ports? Not bad! What do you think of the design of this router? Here is the Amazon link for the Archer BE550 (commissions earned) ➡ geni.us/qDQh
Missing a thorough test-this is more of a quick overview, like "Hey, this is the new WiFi 7 router, and it works well." Nevertheless, good job! I hope your reviews continue to improve and become even more detailed in the future.
@SimonsReviews thank you for that, that's answered my question. I'm going to replace virgin media hub3 with this router. As my samsung s24 ultra receives wifi7 and 6g I just don't get to use it on virgin hub3 so this should be a good replacement
@@SimonsReviews Then on your test you should be getting 2.5 Gb between Wi-Fi 7 capable devices. Why is this bottleneck? is it due to limited Wi-Fi 7 support on your devices or is due to the router not supporting full Wi-Fi 7 speeds?
That's just the nature of wifi, even wifi 7 will easily suffer interference from other radio signals in the area. It is not possible for any router to support 'full wifi 7 speeds'. You can see in the video how me moving just a couple of feet further away boosted speeds by nearly 300mbps. You could test with the same router and phone I used and get different results entirely. Wifi is just that finicky and cabled connections will always be king.
I still find the cost of WiFi 7 to high. Waited years for it, but in the end just upgraded from Asus AC86U to AX86U. WiFi 6E was a fair bit more, WiFi 7 cost just as much but didn't even have the 6ghz channel. So AX86U was £80 on eBay, used, vs BE86U was £300. Was a no brainer to not bother with WiFi 7.
@chicherich I know. WiFi 7 has been out for a while, just the spec wasn't certified until January 2024. Maybe they'll come down, we'll see. To be fair to WiFi 6, many new devices still cost £250+ but you can get them used for a fraction of that.

Thanks for saving me time. Your comment popped up first.
No idea on your home setup, but how does it fair at a distance for example upstairs/garden etc?
Are you able to connect a 2.4ghz washing machine and a 5ghz tv and wifi 7 phone to this to this router all at once, or do i have to select 1 choice.
Yes you can do that. The wifi network will intelligently select the right bandwidth.

You forgot to mention the most important, what Internet speed you are testing with
I wasn't testing with the internet as my 1gbps connection would be a bottleneck for this router. However, the server I had setup was 10gbps.

Wifi6 was costly at the beginning just like the Wifi7 is now
