The Maspalomas Dunes are sand dunes located on the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria, Province of Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands. A 404-hectare area of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, they have been protected as a nature reserve since 1987.
These dunes have to be seen to be believed- just amazing. We parked in the town and walked down to see the dunes keeping to the walkways apart from the bit which has been covered over in sand! Maspalomas beach is lovely for swimming and walking.
My advice: take your time to truly enjoy the stunning landscape; it's absolutely mesmerizing, so it's worth pacing yourself. Also, be mindful of the hot sand and the folks walking around topless, it caught me off guard, but hey, it's all part of the experience right. Overall, it was really enjoyable.
I wasn’t quite prepared for how stunning the sand dunes in Gran Canaria would be! Totally blown away by the view and would recommend everyone visits these.
