Reminds me of this book series called Discworld. In it's universe, the earth sits upon the back of four elephants that are flown through space on the shell of a cosmic turtle. One of the prominent theories for the creation of the world is the Big Bang Theory, one where all the universe's cosmic turtles meet and hold a massive orgy that results in the birth of new turtles and thus, new planets.
My colony was doing fantastic until, after trekking through a very lengthy desert, Onbu decided to take a deep sleep in the middle of a poison forest (Very High poison rate). Every colonist became Badly Poisoned, Onbu became very poisoned. People were dying by the dozen... My 95 person colony fell to 30 in short order.
I learned after a very similar experience to pretty much stockpile herbs from the very beginning of the game. Even if you can only spare one farmer, having them go at it for months will make a huge difference.
“See the TURTLE of enormous girth! On his shell he holds the earth. His thought is slow but always kind; He holds us all within his mind. On his back all vows are made; He sees the truth but may not said. He loves the land and loves the sea, And even loves a child like me”
For future update what would be cool is if they added different versions of the Onbu, similar to how rim world has different biomes to start in but maybe have a smaller effect on gameplay and mainly be for aesthetic.
The toxic state of the world and giant creatures gives me such Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind vibes. Especially after seeing the decontaminaters with their little flamethrowers
what i personally do with my workers is have the worker post with 5 people on general, that way i can ensure that there's enough getting done, and farmer's WILL go outside of 2-3 tiles it's just rare to see it since it's 1-~10 plot ratio that they can manage, also farmers can help harvest crops from other farms! -someone that put almost 60 hours into the playtesting
Yeah thats what i do then when i have an extra 7 ill make 2 more posts( builders and carriers) and instead of harvesters ill have a general, all 3 of them with 4. Since on e you get sawmill and the mines you dont need specific harvesters.
I actually managed to catch you stream this live - my FIRST ever time of being able to do so! Not only that, but this game has been on my radar a little while and has piqued my interest to say the least! Bonuses all around! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and thanks to you especially for reading this comment :3 bye! x
Would be cool if onbu could have other levels to him. Like he could have cliffs and be deserty, or he could be flat and foresty or whatever. It'd be cool to have a lower level down closer to his belly region to have like a few outcast-living farmer types and you could mine through him down to that area.
They ARE constantly moving, its just a mobile home is all. Nomads settle in one place, and no longer become nomads, but when they have a mobile settlement, they are still moving, its just an entire settlement is moving with them, so they ARE still nomads
I once had ruins disappear out of view while the party was still scavenging and they made it back anyway. It just takes a long time if it's so far away
AA: "I like complex management games" *doesn't remember to send out scouting parties, doesn't notice nomads till last second and never checks the map* Riiiiiight
Also Ill throw another comment in here, since you mentioned seeing trust.White you cant see a clear stat or anything of the sort, at least not yet, Ive noticed that when he has higher trust he wags his tail a lot and his head even swings back and forth while smiling, like hes listening to music while walking.
'Everyone comes to the video because maybe you just lost your soul mate' u_u Didn't think such a benign sentence could hit so hard... Just woke up after losing mine and this is the first thing I watched...
Sorry to hear you lost your person. Whenever he said that in response to me it was pretty uncanny because I was at that point. Thanks to a lot of things including AA’s content things in life have gotten better, and they can get better for you too! stay strong
Im playing on adept as my 1st playthrough and its honestly the best way to play. On easy its more of a idle game where you watch everything interact with no stress about any challegens which is also nice.
Id like to see a challenge where you dont remove ANY of the spines/trees/rocks/bushes (no terrain object removal other than hazards like toxic plants), and maybe a separate or combined challenge of research commitment where you have to research to the bottom of a tree before going to a different one (no jumping to different categories).
That first challenge would be impossible. You need at least wood and stones at first in order to build the things like carpenter and stonecutter. You need wood planks and stone slabs in order to make a building that you can use to send out people to collect stones and wood in the world.
I have my doubts thats workable because you need a fair amount of stuff to get self sufficiency up and running. The only other source is expeditions amd a small amount of starting supplies
Nice video! Really hyped about the game. As an old "The Settlers" fan, Wandering Village somehow got me. So I was playing it since the release of the first demo some months ago. I also just published my review about the game on my channel, summarizing my impressions, if somebody is interested.
Hey AA, i know you probably don't look at these comments too often but if you're looking at more unique and beautiful colony builders, you should definitely look at The Universim, it's hilarious 😆
30 seconds and theres a flag on the play. Your relationship with the onbu isn't symbiotic, its mutualistic. Its ine of those science things thats looks the same but mean very different things
life was great in the village until giant earthen lizard mating season loomed over the town.

Oh no!!!😂
Legit what happened to mine too a d onbu was starving once he got out the poison, suffice to say I did not have enough Herbs to survive XD
So can the onbu die?
@@velarswood Yes. 😞
I learned after a very similar experience to pretty much stockpile herbs from the very beginning of the game. Even if you can only spare one farmer, having them go at it for months will make a huge difference.
Love how he said he wasn't going to remove the spikes and then unknowingly, removes one with his first farm.
Still enjoying the phrase "Smooth boi", I see. 😆

56:32 Ah yes, the cutting of your third spike. The spike where you act like it was your first spike cut.
classic
OH YES. The Nausicaa Valley of the Wind colony sim. I love it.
My thoughts exactly
The toxic state of the world and giant creatures gives me such Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind vibes. Especially after seeing the decontaminaters with their little flamethrowers

"symbiotic relationship" proceeds to name only parasitical ones
Parasites damage/kill their hosts
I always love to watch your reviews of new factory/building games
hello trupen
AA's obsession with the phrase "[adjective] boi" is absolutely a boon to the channel
To some I suppose. Makes me cringe every damned time -_-

Have a good weekend bro

Hope y'alls weekends was good bros
Shadow of the Colossus but you're living on it instead of killing it
Ah yes, my favorite barnacle colony sim.
Tis the little cousin of the Great A'tuin!

@@1hourdeathmusic145 So are they post-apocalyptic white trash? Lmao
Now I want a pet turtle, and have it climb on my back.
"Beets by Dre." You've inspired me to make a new beetroot farm in Minecraft named that. Fantastic pun lol
It's heavily inspired by Nausicaa of the valley of the wind, so it's anime adjacent.
I once had ruins disappear out of view while the party was still scavenging and they made it back anyway. It just takes a long time if it's so far away
We made a new onbu medicine.. the only problem is it's a suppsitory
Onbu means "piggyback" in Japanese
So many sea life facts. AA's vods are always so educational
"If you have a berry, just, like, quit your job, don't do anything. You have a berry man."

This creature wasting more energy for moving his head to receive food that he gains energy from this food
Nausicaa of the Back of the Tortoise, cool! Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
This game looks delightful
Living on that thing would be an absolute nightmare of you get motion sick easily.
Can you use reverse psychology on a distrustful Onbu?
Glad to see you play this, I was curious about this one myself.
This is such a super original game idea. Game devs should take notes on this
"Hey hey people, amphibian here"
Heck yeah. Recently got this game and I was hoping youd cover it. I feel like its right up your alley
could we say that onbu is an ambiguous amphibian?
Thank you for doing this game 💚 I've been so curious about it
AA: "I like complex management games"

Riiiiiight
'i know onbu's gonna shake his back a lot' ... ambiguous admitting that his maltreatment of onbu was premeditated??
Love the playthrough. Would also like to see some more farthest frontier
Onbu is an earthbear, the post larval form of a millennias old waterbear.
The world turtle is a really old story, reeaalllyyy old
I dont think they climbed on him. It looks like he woke up and started going and some people didnt catch the ride 😂
Smooth boi
Smooth brain
Smooth voice
Smooth game play
Who has the right to complain?
You chopping the mother trees at the beginning hurts a little.. you need them for saplings, and they grow really slow and rarely together.
My favorite game is Rimworld, so this looks to be right up my alley. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Dyson Sphere Program won't have combat until 2023. The update on logistics is coming sometime September.
I give this 3 years in Early Access. Let's return then.
Also Ill throw another comment in here, since you mentioned seeing trust.White you cant see a clear stat or anything of the sort, at least not yet, Ive noticed that when he has higher trust he wags his tail a lot and his head even swings back and forth while smiling, like hes listening to music while walking.
Stonewall Jackson
This game looks lovely, couple things remind me of frost punk, thanks for sharing.
I think Onbu only shakes his back and destroys your buildings is because of you removing his spikes.

This game reminds me of Reus so much
Future idea: If you dock two SteamDecks together you'll have two Onbu riding side by side, Digimon style
Muesli is really good. I like it with yogurt.
You're very cool frog man
muesli! i did not even know that is a word in english 😂
This guy sounds so simmilair to SethTzeentach voice wise
I was lied to; that boy is very bumpy and coarse

How do you do good at this game? I always get screwed by people not doing what I need them to do and having very few guys for too long.
Yo reshi island vibes
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind: The Video Game
I enjoy your correct usage of romantic when describing this game. You really are just tryna be good with nature.
But definitely need more project zom

how did u not make a video out of this game?!
Can't you use the horn to suggest path for onbu
Dude you missed SO many oasis' while you had no water...
Timberback? Backborn?
20:20 would that not just make you a village on a plateau?
Damn you for playing games that I can't play on my peasant PS4! Guess I should go back to my field of turnips. 😄

Why does it have 6 legs
bro so many mushr00ms are better than shitkaki
Isn't this idea from the Legend of Korra?
Emphasis on "smooth." :D
The game is too barebones IMO. There just doesn't seem to be enough content.
Thw scenery is nice but oh man I hate those villager animations.
playing too much league of legends XD cmon anmu
I wish youtubers and streamers actually paid for games.
just makes it hard to believe the words said without being biased.

I tried to watch. This was valley girl level commentary...
I'd tip to watch AA snuggle a smooth boi in a hot tub on stream.
Not even lying.
