I've chopped off a venomous snakes head and the head was still trying to bite and the body kept wiggling for a few minutes afterwards.
For those asking why the shark kept circling, it’s because it was waiting for the sea lion to succumb to its injuries. Even an injured sea lion has claws and teeth that could land a potentially bad injury to the shark’s eyes.
I think its because the sea lion and the shark both know/think that since the boat is a "Bigger animal" the sea lion is safe there until the shark goes away/until the boat goes away, so the shark circles the boat waiting for the sea lion to die/leave the boat, or the boat to leave the sea lion so it can eat in peace

Best I can find is that sea lions have a blood pressure of up to 120mm/hg. So even at a couple metres the water pressure is higher than their blood pressure so that will prevent the blood coming out. This poor guy has probably lost most of his blood pressure though so even at a couple feet depth the blood will be getting held in.

Best I can find is that sea lions have a blood pressure of up to 120mm/hg.
So even at a couple metres the water pressure is higher than their blood pressure so that will prevent the blood coming out.
This poor guy has probably lost most of his blood pressure though so even at a couple feet depth the blood will be getting held in.
