Great video! Still can't believe they don't make the 50 to have all footswitch options! Just because someone wants a more compact combo amp doesn't mean we want to lose functionality.
Yeh it’s a shame I agree as most times I don’t need 100W! But I think they needed more ways the differentiate the 2.
There are many after market footswitches that will open up all those options. And for $250 Brand new and all the options and different sounds you can get with this amp and the sound quality, there's gonna be SOMETHING they sacrifice. Question is, WHY did they decide to sacrifice THIS. So dumb.
Agree. I don't need 100w, but I'd like the bigger switches and effects loop. Killer amp for $175 though
Today I found the UNI-V effect in Tone Studio and realized how absolutely amazing it would be to have the rate set to 0, the depth set to 100, and the level connected to an expression pedal. I want to use it for an intro riff now, and use the pedal while doing a slow fretboard slide. It makes a wicked awesome sound :D
I had no clue the features of the 50 were more limited than the 100. I thought only the wattage was the difference. Thanks!

That mode is for when you want to just step on the pedal for the duration of the effect you want. It's a cool function for stage use, very useful if you know how to use it. From what I've seen anyways.

There _are_ TRS A/B switches. I wonder if that would allow having channel switching and expression pedals at the (pseudo) same time.
I picked up the FS-6 for my Katana 212 and the best advice I can give is to pay the extra $75ish for the GA-FC

@@GuitarZero2Hero Indeed, I checked out the AIRSTEP Kat and it's an interesting choice. I've recently bought a Katana 50 mk2 ex mostly because of the small size, the outputs and the GA-FC EX compatibility, but the AIRSTEP Kat beats it in price, and maybe in some features like bluetooth connectivity and the apps. Will take some time to consider which pedal suits me better. And thank you for answering (You've got a subscriber)

Very useful thanks. One question if I may. On the Boss Katana 50 Mk2, will I be able to connect a foot switch as you have displayed here at the back and simultaneously connect a wah pedal between the guitar and the input. Will the wah pedal be useable on the Katana effects if connected like this. Apologies if this is a stupid question I am still new to this.

Nice video! Do you know what other alternatives to the FS-6 also work? I just got a VOX FS2A and it switches between banks within one channel, but it's not working as expected when trying to switch between Channel A and B, even tho it's just a simple A-B pedal. Trying to find out if I can sort it.
I bought a Lead Foot FS-2 for €13. It has no LED's but it works perfectly with a Boss Katana 50.

Hello the foot switch FS-6 can connect Loop station RC-1 to the katana mk2? Is it possible?
The correct cable is trs to trs, or trs to ts?
If they are just latch mode, you could hypothetically cycle thru all four settings with a single switch. Shorting tip-ring-sleeve would be one setting, Shorting tip-sleeve another, tip-ring a third, shorting none a fourth. Doubt there’s a stomp switch that does this
if theres a switch pedal that can switch between fs 6 and expression pedal, then we can connect all of it at the same time isnt it?
Hi. Thanks for the video. It convinced me to get a Katana 50 MKII and FS-6 combo (now purchased!). I'm wondering if I can I link a BOSS DS-1 with the FS-6 daisy-chain style? Or do I need to keep the FS-6 connected to the amp separately? Much appreciation if you can advise. I can't seem to see an answer anywhere online.
The FS-6 will be connected to the amp seperately :) for your DS-1 you'll go - guitar > DS-1 > amp. And the FS-6 will be plugged into the back of the amp.

What if I get some kind of cable divider to plug both pedal and foot switch? Although for trs cables it could be hard to get in a shop but maybe i could ask some electrical service to make it, do you think both devices would work?
I doubt it. However you could contact Roland/boss and ask.

Should i get the boss katana mk2 or the positive grid spark? Pretty much for practicing at home, and maybe playing live down the track. Thoughts Dave?
If you’re going to play live in the future get a katana. If it’s just for practice the spark is probably better as a desktop amp
@@GuitarZero2Hero So for teaching Guitar, the boss is probably better too as well right? The spark costs a little more in Australia i believe. Probably going for boss.
It’s easier to tweak your tone with spark because you have the mobile app. With katana you’ll need to connect to a PC/Mac to really tweak the chain but there’s probably greater flexibility once you do. Katana probably better as an all rounder as it can crank to 50W and has. 12” speaker. The spark sounds amazing but probably wouldn’t be good if you’re playing with a band

Just 4 with this footswitch. But 8 if you have the GAFC
Is it possible to use a footswitch to loop a record and then change the sound for overdub?
Watch my katana 50 vs katana 100 video to learn more about looping. Basically no not with the 50, but yes with the 100. There is a workaround for the 50 but it requires external speakers

I can't believe they would gives us all of these FX to play with yet no way to turn them on or off in the 50watt version. That really sucks
You can save your patches with those FX using the tone studio, but in a live setting it is more limited which is why they have the 100 model

Check out the AIRSTEP katana! Made a recent video about it, awesome pedal which gets around a lot of the limitations

They have made this so complicated,why? Line 6 has a controller you plug in with one cable that controls everything. Including the wah.

If it’s a regular wah pedal between the guitar and amp then yeh there’s no issues. If you wanted to use a regular digital expression pedal then you can also try using the AIRSTEP katana pedal and then that frees up the expression/footswitch input. Do a search on that pedal :)
