I just got my FS-7, discovered that I need to hold the press on the pedal when to change CH1 to CH2. Then, it returned to CH1 when I released the pedal. So, I need to plug it with adapter😂☝🏻
It might be worth mentioning, that the Boss FS-7 will be able to operate without a power source connected also. The power input is there to make the LEDs function, and that's pretty much it. I just wanted to let you know, since you're not stating this in the video. Have a great day. Cheers.
The FS7 will only work in momentary mode without power. However, on the GT1 (and other Boss multi-pedals), in the settings you have the option to select the modes of CTL2 and CTL3 (regardless to what the FS7 is set to by default). So you CAN set the FS7 to latch mode without power but it's only possible due to the edit options of Boss multi-pedals. I don't think that option would be available with simple loops. I don't own the FS6 so I have no idea how or if this method will work on it.
Cheers Ben! It seems like every time I want an answer about pedals that you've already looked into it and have a nice short video! Keep up the great work
Doesn’t the 6 also let you change polarity of both a/b INDIVIDUALLY? Whereas i only see one selection of polarity on the fs-7. I have an amp that requires A and B to both switch the “tip”. Not sure the fs-7 can do that.
Oh man, this is a drawback... this is the most compact of the two (and the one I bought) and I need one in latching and the other for momentary... does anyone know any tricks around this?
@@guguslive I guess a lil bit of tampering with the circuit would let one to change the behaviour. But still representing the user interface outside of the box without harming the esthetics of the footswitch is kind of a challenge. Still not impossible...

Totally important to point out one can easily use the FS6 on one’s pedalboard without any battery. Just grab a power cable with a 2-pole battery cap on one end. I use the FS6 this way. Also important to consider how accurately one can hit the right switch on each of these units.
There's something else to have in mind: When due to there's only one MODE switch on the FS-7 when you choose latch or unlatch both A and B switches work latched or unlatched. And as you have two MODE switchs on the FS-6 you can have A switch latched and B another one unlatched and viceversa.
I think the power supply to the FS-7 is only to illuminate the led's and it will work without the power supply but switch status indicator led's will not be operative ? Just watched a video on the FS-7 that makes that point so i'm not talking from experience. Might get it for my RC 500 which i'm learning to use thanks to watching your videos Ben.
thanks for the informative video, Ben. @ 1:50, it looks like you did exactly this - but can you confirm that while using the combined A&B output (TRS), there's no issue in having one pedal set to momentary and another set to latching?
@Not Expat Joe Ive managed to get the FS7 working in my ultra compact pedal box. As you say it is a momentary switch without power and my balance on one foot to operate it is also momentary with some latency or do I mean delay!
I got a 9v battery eliminator to eliminate the issue of running down the battery if you don’t unplug the input. I always hated devices that do this, rather than having an actual on/off switch. It probably would cost the manufacturer 50 cents to add an actual on/off power switch. That’s why I do not use internal batteries in any of my pedals? Why bother, unless you are doing a completely remote busking gig.
@Not Expat Joe Depends... By itself the FS7 can only work in momentary mode without power. But with a lot of Boss multi-pedals you have the option to set the FS7 buttons to work both in latch and momentary mode (in the edit/settings). So, it is possible to use the FS7 with a lot of Boss multi-pedals without any power both in latch and momentary mode. I have no idea if this option is available in loopers...
Hi Ben maybe you can help me. I have the rc500 loop station and after watching your video I bought the FS6 footswitch. The wanted the switch so I can simple hit the A and or B or move up in down in my stored memories. I wanted to do this since I have about 50 stored loops and drum patterns which I want to be able to get to hands free. I did not want to change the function of my RC500 footswitch so I would not lose flexibility. I followed your instructions on the video using a balance trs cable, and setting the polarity and function switches as you indicated on the video. I went into the station and memory settings and changed Ctr func 1 to Mem Dec and Ctr func 2 to Mem inc. Then when I hit the fs6 pedal either A or B it would only go up on the memory selection. (5 to 6 and so forth) Both A and B did the same thing. So I kept trying things and so forth and then all of a sudden I got some kind of error message on the RC500 which blinked and went off. Now the pedal will not do anything on the RC500. I changed the setting to start and stop and so forth just to check if it had something to do with memory up and down and it worked for nothing. I unplugged the FS6 and tested my RC500 for normal function and it works fine. I even went in and changed ped 1 and 2 to increase and decrease the memory using the RC500 switches and it works. I then tested the FS6 on my amp directly to turn distortation and clean on and off and the pedal works fine. So it appears I did something to the RC500's ability to accept the FS 6 pedal. Not sure what that error message was but I'm sure that had something to do with it. Any thoughts on what I should do next to get things back to normal and so that I can use the FS6 on my RC500?

Nice video!! Just wanted to ask if you've ever used one of these for channel switching on a guitar amplifier, as I'm having trouble with a similarly designed footswitch? When one of the switches is engaged, the sound seems to cut in/out very drastically. Also, in some cases, the LEDs on the foot switch change but not the channel/voice on the amp itself.
You can use one to do that. I have in the past. Only thing you won’t be able to get are dynamics. Soft, Medium, Loud as the Footswitch just sends a single message. Hope this helps!
Could I use the FS-7 and assign the buttons to next track/prev track for my RC-500. I wanna switch samples hands free without using the dial and FS-6 would take too much room on my pedal board.
Can one hook up three fs 7s? Would you use patch cables going from the first fs7 to the next fs7, and so on? Will they actually work if hooked up to each other as if they were pedals? Or does a foot switch have to go to the RC 500? Id be interested in using three fs7s if it will work to use patch cables between them. Let me know. Thanks!

Hi I have a problem with my fs-6. the "pedal B" is always active. - Mono cable entry in pedal A - Mono cable entry in pedal B - stereo cable output in A + B Pedal A works (on \ off), while pedal B is always active even when pressed. Obviously I tried to change cables, I also used contact spray but nothing. Question: Is this normal or is there something wrong?
I’m not a fan of the F-7’s heel toe requirement to push the buttons because it would be really easy to hit the wrong one or both at the same time where the F-6 is two separate buttons making switching virtually mistake proof. That’s a real deal breaker for me in that F-7.
Hi. Ben. I have a question. Can you use more than one FS7 for múltiples on off options for a RC500? If so, how do i connect it? Thanks for your time and greetings from Argentina.
Need to ask a noob question... so if I had two pedal boards... I put one mono jack in A (For one pedal board) and I then put a mono jack in B (For the other pedal board) then I use the TRS cable to connect to my Neves DI Box and then can I switch between pedalboards?
I have a TC Helicon Switch 6. Can I program the 500 to utilize all of my 6 buttons? It just has one cable going out. Not sure if I should use the 6 switch and buy the rc500 or just wait and buy the rc600.

Is there maybe a setting in there that would make this work like a normal pedal. *One hit, lights on, effect on. *One hit, light is off, effect is off. the biggest difference is that in fs-6 you can choose the momentary/latch mode for individual switches - you cannot in fs-7. also fs-7 only works in momentary switch mode when not powered. you guys really need to read the manuals before doing videos.
Great point and was one answer I was searching for. Also, what happens when you use a TRS (or insert cable) with the FS-6? Does that cancel the individual L/U switch functionality? Meaning, if the A is set to latching and the B is set to Unlatch and you have two separate cables going to two separate jacks, they will work as latching and unlatched respectively. However, what happens when you run the single TRS cable out of the pedal? Does that defeat one (or the other) manual U/L switch settings? The other problem is, assuming you don't have a giant pedalboard with a power supply, and you are using only this pedal with another 9v powered pedal, you now have an additional trip hazard on stage because you have to run a power cable to an outlet. So in summary, these are both partial fails. The FS6 should have the ability to be powered with AC adapter and the FS7 should be able to be powered by 9v battery. - plus the original problem that you cannot set each pedal independently as U/L on the FS7.
@scotto0010: 1. "However, what happens when you run the single TRS cable out of the pedal? Does that defeat one (or the other) manual U/L switch settings?": no. 2. "The FS-6 should have the ability to be powered with AC adapter": you can use a 2.1mm x 5.5mm DC Plug To 9V Battery Clip Converter.
You dont mention that with the FS7 you have to lift your foot off the floor to operate the A pedal! this is a major problem for older players who can easily lose balance. Why do you guys not give 'need to know' info! I have both and the FS6 is much easier to use but takes up too much space in a compact pedal board for busking. You dont actually show the pedals being operated!

Thanks!
@WAKing-ii7se
"Can one hook up three FS-7s?": no.
Nice one dude. Well lit, clear and pretty informative.
Thank you again from Brasil
Excellent presentation
Thanks, I didn't even notice the FS-6 required a battery just to function until I watched this, glad you made a point of drawing attention to this. Now I can scratch it from my list.
It actually needs the battery for the LED indicators, not for use alone.
@@dogmosatchmo hmmm.. most of the reviews I've read say that's not the case; the battery is required just to function. I think they fixed it with the FS-7
@themanwhojaped9377 Apologies. I seriously read FS-7, but my mistake. The FS-7 doesn't require batteries to function. Just the LEDs. The FS-6 switches electronicly, needing the battery to function. Sorry I wasn't more observant. Kudos to you and your quest!!! Keep rockin!
Hi I have a Boss RC3 and a Boss FS-6. How do I get one FS to start and stop the playback and the other to change memory channel.
Don't know whether to set latched/unlatched or the polarity on the FS-6. Totally confused, any help would be appreciated.
Hi Ben great video many thanks, I have just got a katana mk2 50 watt can you control more than just one channel using these pedals for example would the switch A on the FS 6 control clean and lets say a distortion and switch B control delay and phase so you are running 2 types of effects at the same time I,m looking at alternatives because I don,t think the GA-FC pedal works with the katana mk2 cheers Paul
What’s best for pairing with the RC202? I don’t mind about batteries or mains plug.
Just what’s best and simplest solution?
Cheers
Hi I have a problem with my fs-6.
the "pedal B" is always active.
- Mono cable entry in pedal A
- Mono cable entry in pedal B
- stereo cable output in A + B
Pedal A works (on \ off), while pedal B is always active even when pressed.
Obviously I tried to change cables, I also used contact spray but nothing.
Question: Is this normal or is there something wrong?
If you use the "A&B" connector, you cannot use either the "A" or the "B" connector.
Good Day! im torn between the two so what is your pick. BOSS-RC 600 or Headrush looperboard?
Need to ask a noob question... so if I had two pedal boards... I put one mono jack in A (For one pedal board) and I then put a mono jack in B (For the other pedal board) then I use the TRS cable to connect to my Neves DI Box and then can I switch between pedalboards?
Can I use it with a Roland amp?
Did you try this? Does the FS7 require a power source?
I have a TC Helicon Switch 6. Can I program the 500 to utilize all of my 6 buttons? It just has one cable going out. Not sure if I should use the 6 switch and buy the rc500 or just wait and buy the rc600.
Can you use the dual foot switch with boss rc1
I can't wait to get my fut on one of these!
Do they both support functions?
Can I use the FS-7 to trigger the favorite switch in Strymon Sunset? Or do I have to go for the Strymon Mini Switch?
Hello Ben from Greece, I have the fs 6 only I made the mistake and instead of a battery I went to connect a cable and as a result I probably damaged it, it turns on normally but does not change, do you know the reason? have I burned any output or input? the current I put in was 9 volts as much as his battery. I connected it to the battery cables.
Questions witch of the 2 would work better on my boss EBAND js10?
Thank you for you videos theyre a great reference. I apologize ahead for the rookie question, but does the FS-6 only control 2 channels on the RC-505, or can it be configured to control all 5? Much appreciated.
Kind of an off topic question, but is there a way to choose the output for the aux input on the rc 300?
Please help:
I bought a boss FS-7 and on my Boss Rc10r, have tried to assign CTL-1 to memory up and CTL-2 To memory down. The problem is the looper doesn't register when I press the "A" switch on the FS-7. I have a 1/4" patch cable connecting the looper (Exp: out) to the FS-7: B (A&B In). Does anyone know the solution?
My first guess is that I need a proper stereo cable and not a pedal patch cable??
If anyone else has encountered this problem, please speak up. Thank you!
Can I use this as a bank and patch selection? Thank you
Can this boss fs-7 footswitch work to alternate from combo amp to a boss gx-100 and vice versa
I have the FS-7,and I just want the light to be on if an effect is on, and off if the effect is off.
The only way to do this is if I hit it twice.
Twice for on and then twice for off.
This pedal is very frustrating !!!
I have it hooked to my boss 1000 core.
Is there maybe a setting in there that would make this work like a normal pedal.
*One hit, lights on, effect on.
*One hit, light is off, effect is off.
I tried everything and can't get it to simply work, as most of by boss equipment that is impossible to do simple.
I feel like I need a collage degree to work this stuff...lol
:-/
I had the same issue with the FS-6 with my GT-10. I just solved it by changing the Src mode in the assign page to moment. Hope that helps.
Is it possible to use both pedals at the same time on the rc505?
I've never ever heard anyone call it a FUTTswitch before ! 😊
Greetings! Either of these will work with the ME-50?
I like the fut switch
Good one, Ben.....
Your videos are so useful 👍🏻 please make how to record acoustic guitars in ableton 🙏
I need a pedal for my rc-5 which one is bettwr?
Thank you so much for your helpful videos. Can you help me with my problem. I'm using RC-300 as my looper and I've pre-recorded backgrounds into the 1-99 memory locations. I would like to use an external pedal to switch between the memory locations. Do you know how to this, and which pedal to use? Thank you so much in before hand!:)
How is the duration of the 9V batteries? It runs for months or not?
I prefer the look & functionality of the FS-6 . . . I'm glad I have (2) for my DR-880 Drum Machine & RC-5 Looper.They will also-work with my New Cube Street 2.
How is the duration of the 9V batteries? It runs for months or not?
can u use fs 6 on every channel on just on one?
Hi there would this fs6 work with a jc22?
Can u use the FS6 with the boss gt1?
Can this be used for md
can i use this with the boss rc 505 ?
The FS-7 a and b switches feel wack and cheap but its small.... the FS-6 feels like a Boss Pedal but its huge.... Hard decision though...
the biggest difference is that in fs-6 you can choose the momentary/latch mode for individual switches - you cannot in fs-7.
also fs-7 only works in momentary switch mode when not powered.
you guys really need to read the manuals before doing videos.
@scotto0010:
Buddy you better strength your balance then.. Practice some sports.. No matter your age!
@@onlyrealufos4146 Ridiculous comment. I do practice sports and am very fit for my age but you try balancing on one foot for a several seconds without the other foot waivering. Try understandimg that to scroll songs standing on one foot is very difficult and I am an ex gymnast 'buddy'!!!! (Ps I'm not your buddy and dont live in your country). Cant you guys except criticism of a brand name?
@Not Expat Joe Sorry to hear that. For me carrying a stool is extra gear. I play best standing up. Fortunately with practice I have regained my one foot balance long enough to quickly scroll backing tracks with the FS7
I can't speak about the FS-6, however I do own & use the FS-7. The FS-7 does not need power if your only using it in momentary switching mode. The only thing not working will be the LEDs. Just sayin.
Fs-7 also works without power! you only need power for the leds to light up.
Without power FS-7 a dual momentary but it's in the Normally Closed (Push To Break) "polarity" only. If you use it as a momentary Normally Open (Push To Make) or as a latching switch, you still need power for it to work.
👍
👌♥️
good video man, but the FS6 is over rated and way over priced for a AB switch.
I just keep hearing him say “Butt Switch” 😅
Hlo
IVE NEVER HEARD OF A FUHT SWITCH
I'm just playing. Thanks for the video.
I use the FS6 for the DB 90. No one asked though lol
wtf boss. both of these have such big drawbacks that they are both useless for me. if one does something - the other doesnt and vice versa.
freaking make a fs-8 that works.
lol, why are you yelling? did you not buy earplugs for your amp? bro...
