- During the Industry Pool at the Nürburgring I have filmed the 2020 BMW M2 CS testing on track.
The spirit of the beloved 1M Coupe will be revived in just a few short months if we were to rely on a new report published by BMW Blog. The enthusiast website has it on good authority the M2 CS will premiere in the second half of November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with an online reveal likely to take place even sooner than that.
The meaner M2 has been spotted multiple times and a great deal has been written about what will likely end up being a limited-run special edition. Production is rumored to be capped at just 2,200 units for the entire world, so you can expect a significant premium over the M2 Competition to justify the model’s exclusivity. The extra money BMW is going to charge customers will also have something to do with the carbon fiber diet, with the coupe’s hood, front splitter, roof, side mirror caps, rear spoiler, and diffuser to be made from the lightweight material.
BMW will attempt to lure in buyers by massaging the S55 engine to produce a yet-to-be-confirmed 444 hp, which would represent a nearly 10% bump compared to the M2 Competition while sticking to the same 406 pound-feet (550 Newton-meters) of torque. The engine will be hooked up to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic, so you won’t be hearing any complaints in this regard.
A leaked dealer bulletin that “escaped” onto the World Wide Web some months ago revealed BMW plans to install an adaptive M suspension and an M exhaust as standard equipment, along with an optional set of carbon-ceramic brakes for the 19-inch wheels as an upgrade over the base M Sport brakes.
As far as pricing is concerned, the M2 CS will cost significantly more than the $58,900 M2 Competition and might get close to the $69,150 M4 Coupe or even surpass it given the numerous upgrades and low production numbers.

This the first time I see it with this new bonnet!! In earlier spyshot it had the M Performance optional bonnet. This looks more like the M4 GTS/CS bonnet with air vent 😍

Spoke to driver at the Tankstelle, he said it was "Race car modified to be street legal. Can you get video of that RSR? Tourist drives.

Würde mir als Kunde extrem verarscht vorkommen, wenn ich mir vor ein paar Monaten um einen völlig überteuerten Preis einen M2 Competition gekauft hätte. Nur um dann ein wenig später einen M2 CS vor die Nase gesetzt bekomme. Was man so aus den den Autohäusern hört, ist der "normale M2 ein echter Ladenhüter, kein Wunder für den Preis. Jetzt probiert es BMW mit dem CS. Good Luck
Nicht falsch verstehen, ich find den M2 Competition, auch den CS, ein durchwegs gelungenes Auto, aber der Preis ist einfach viel zu hoch. Und ich könnte mir ihn leisten, will ihn mir aber nicht leisten.

Also du scheinst weder das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis im Vergleich zu anderen OEM-Modellen der Kategorie zu kennen geschweige denn die Verkaufszahlen des M2 /M2C. Aber Hauptsache mal was gesagt, oder ;-)
Steven Z Nehme an du kommst aus Deutschland. In Österreich kostet ein halbwegs ausgestatter M2 über 90.000€. Da geb ich dir natürlich recht, da stimmt das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis (Ironie OFF) Und ja, Hauptsache was gesagt ;)
Stefan Die Rede war auch vom M2 Competition ;) Der M2 ging gut weg, auch für vernünftige Preise. Nimm den neuen 1er als Beispiel: Kostet ne Stange weniger in der Produktion und wird inflationsbereinigt um einiges teurer verkauft. Gleiches Spiel beim M2 Competition
Stefan In Deutschland? In Österreich hättest mit 18% Nachlass noch 67.000€ bezahlt. Leider. Ihr seid da in Deutschland preislich und steuerlich (Stichwort: Normverbrauchsabgabe aka Luxussteuer) im Paradies. Wenn ich dir erzähle was ein 140er oder M2 mit Vollkasko und Steuer im Monat kostet, fällst du vom Stuhl. Was meinst warum in Österreich nur ca. 25 Stück 140er gekauft wurden? 🤷♂️

Die Sache ist, dass wenn ich das Auto in Deutschland kaufen würde, preismäßig in ganz einer anderen, viel günstigeren Klasse wäre.
Ich geb dir ein kleines finanzielles Beispiel:
Preis für einen halbwegs gut ausgestatteten 140er in D um die 55.000€, in AT das gleiche Auto 67.000€
Versicherung für mich, und ich bin der besten Versicherungsstufe die man in AT erreichen kann (Stufe 0) zahl für einen 140 Vollkasko mit Steuer um die knapp 3700€.
Und ja meine Wortwahl mit „verarscht“ war wohl überspitzt. Shame on me. Wenn du das Rechenbeispiel auf den M2 Competion den es erst seit kürzer Zeit gibt, diesen eklatante Mehrpreis bezahlt und dann nach einem sehr kurzem Lifecycle einen CS vor die Nase gesetzt bekommt, fängt man sich dann schon zu fragen: BMW? Muss das wirklich sein? Und ich weiß aus vertrauter BMW Quelle, dass der M2 Competition nicht gut verkauft wurde, da die Spreizung zum alten M2 zu klein war. Und meine Kritik mache ich daran fest, dass keiner der M/ Competition Kunden bei der Unterschrift des Kaufvertrags, geahnt hat, dass schon ein CS in der Pipleine ist.
Sollte ich damit jemandem damit auf die Füße getreten sein, mea culpa 🤷♂️

This car will be a lot more fun that the 4 series/M4. Price will be more than M4 Competition most likely.
The M2 is the highest selling M car. Anyone who loves cars knows how well received the M2 is; often regarded as the best M cars since the 1M. Whatever judgement you have of the M2 or its owners, they're completely laughable and embarrassing.
