Thanks for post this video. I could install a mosaic tile in a wall at my apartment following the instructions in this video and the outcome was amazing.
He is referring to combination-tile that has glass and stone pieces: apply the sealer only to the stone pieces. It will leave a haze on the glass tile. It prevents grout from sticking to the surface of the stone tile. 27 people plus you misunderstood.
that is because to avoid the the glue from oozing out of the joints when he apply pressure to the tile to make it stick to the wall.. it is done only with tiles that are not as thick...
saboor saboor, incorrect! When installing glass mosaic tile, use a 3/16” v notched trowel to apply the thin set. Use only white thin set developed for glass install, as it has a high poly content. Knock down/flatten the ridges left by the v notched trowel with the straight edge side of the same trowel. This will keep the thin set from showing through the glass tiles. It also provides or aids in 100 percent coverage.
For thinset applications, It's "better" to use the FLAT side of the trowel to "burnish" thinset (preferable for wet locations) and then go back over the thinset with the v-notch side of the trowel, making sure the teeth are fully pressed against your wall surface as you draw the trowel across the surface at a 45 degree angle. So long as the thinset has been fully troweled (i.e. - no overly "thick" spots left after troweling, you won't have thinset oozing up to the room-facing surface of the tile. If you DO end up with a few spots where the thinset comes up between the tiles, drawing a dampened (not wet) toothbrush along the (future) grout line and lightly wiping the tile surface with a damp sponge will "fix" the problem. If all else fails, you can always come back even after the thinset has "set" and "clean up" with a grout saw.
Can anyone give some advice on how to remove this type of tile? I moved into a house that has this exact stuff and I want to do something different. I can't get it off.
Did you manage to get them off? (This is 4 years later). Often with tile removal you end up destroying the wall surface and have to put up new drywall there.

if you apply the sealer the way he does "on each piece of tile individually" then make sure you take a week off work to complete the sealing
