Thanks everyone, be good to each other! - Ігри
Legman did not promote his let's play, so I shall do it for him. Go check out his playthrough! For a game he's presumably played dozens if not hundreds of times before, he shows so much passion and excitement it's contagious,
so glad i get to see this video. i remember mention of Sacred Stones in the streams. well the ones ive been able to attend
Oh you need to check it out, it's the goat
Sacred Stones also has my favorite roster of playable characters in the series. Ross and Garcias father-son relationship, the love triangle between Tethys, Marisa and Gerik, Joshua is funny, you have the bundle of silliness that is L`Arachel and Dozla, etc.
I’ve always been hesitant about trying the pre-awakening fe titles but this video did push me a bit closer to giving one a try
This was my first Fire Emblem game. And every strategy game I've played since I measure against it. It's that good.
PEAK
6:16 you absolutely can throw seth at literally every single problem you ever encounter, and it will never stop working.
Sacred Stones nailed the freedom aspect perfectly. Pretty much the sandbox of Fire Emblem games.
Now that I've completed the Xenoblade trilogy (after 2+ years!), I think my next gaming project is to play through all 3 of the GBA Fire Emblems. I got 7 back in 2001 but never completed it due to difficulty and lack of experience with FE games. Never played Sacred Stones but your video has me pumped!
Great job pointing out the game's strong and ofter overlooked points. It was also my first and, to this day, favorite in the series. The style and atmosphere is just perfect and so impressive for a GBA game.
The game difficulty might feel too easy for players who min-max a couple of OP characters and abuse grind mechanics, but imo it's balanced perfectly if you like to mix and match a composition without worrying if the unit is a pre-promote or has lower growths. It's specially nice if you care about the support convos and the character endings.
Loved Sacred Stones. The easy difficulty makes it a great game to make your own challenge runs. I used to do "half deploy" where I'd halve the deploy maximum and try and beat each map with just 4 or 5 units at max. Still wasn't very hard, but it helped me get into the challenge mode mindset.
Recommendation for another one of these, and slightly related to unicorn overlord, cover Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. That was PEAK tactics RPG gameplay on the GBA for me. FE is a good strategy game, but the units are way too frail and act more like RTS units to be a full, true TRPG to me. TO:TKOL has a great difficulty curve (when you're not grinding and trying to 100% it) and I love the balance between the classes and units.
My favorite is Blazing Blade, but Sacred Stones is also fun. I love the story and all the monster types just enhance my love for the sprite work.
Sacred Stones was my entry to the Fire Emblem franchise too, I’ve been hoping for years it’ll get a Echos remake. I always felt it didn’t get enough love when I was playing Heroes.
"Tom Gushing About Sacred Stones For 14 Mins" hell yeah!
This was the game that got me into the franchise and into the genre. I wish we could get a port to the switch for it.
So this was my first Fire Emblem game I ever played. I originally found out about the series from Smash Bros Melee. Then I saw two different Fire Emblem games listed in the top GBA games in GameFAQs and from there I picked and downloaded a rom of sacred stones. I only realized later that the one called Fire Emblem should've been played first but this was the early 2000s so I didn't have anyone to tell me which came first. By the time I picked up FE 7 I was so used to the improvements of Sacred Stones I couldn't go back. I don't remember a ton from it but I do remember preferring Eirika's route and to always pick summoner over druid even if druid technically can do more damage.
Glad to see I'm not the only one that saw how SS was way ahead of its time in terms of offering players a lot more freedom without completely negating the limitations that made Fire Emblem games so challenging.
On thing ... Ephraim is pronounced like "Effrum" not "Effraime."
My first FE and I LOVED it!
blazing blade was the first fire emblem I played, but it was without a doubt Sacred stones that truly grabbed me and cemented both fire emblem as a series and the wider genre among my absolute favourites ever since.
My experience with FE is rather limited coming in from the 3DS era and playing this surprised me on a whole lot of levels. Such a great game I've been meaning to get back to it again and it's currently sitting 2nd from the top in terms of my fave FE. Ross Is Boss.
You say character options have pared down over the years. I have to disagree heartily. In fact, Sacred Stones has one of the smallest character roster in the series. It has 33 characters, and Three Houses has 34. Fates has, like, two games' and two generations' worth of options, and Awakening has 49 characters. Let's not forget how massive the cast of Radiant Dawn is, either.
Why not just call it the Weekend Strategy Spotlight at this point? Gives you more freedom don’t it? ^.^
I really need to check out your FE8 Let’s Play one of these days; it’s just about carving out some time for it. Because I started a run that I’ve paused around Chapter 19, but this Eirika route run has been a joy… Hell, it’s actually incredible how much you can break the game - Skirmish battles can be randomised until some enemies can drop *stupid* numbers of rare weapons like Rune Swords, Zanbatos, Spears (which I always sell for 5K gold), Dragon Axes (and other slaying weapons)… It’s a time-consuming process but a wild ride that I don’t regret.
Now, I need to finish so I can start my Ephraim run… in which I shall actively keep Amelia *alive* but unrecruited. And then after than, Eirika path but the same to Joshua (just so I can see what happens with the Ismaire scene), and finish with an all-characters-recruited Ephraim path. Though maybe I’ve do a couple of FE7 runs between that; after my cartridge was finicky and deleted all content I really just want to rebuild the Support log and have all the different paths and difficulties done at least once.
"Peak fire emblem design" -> mentions sacred stones
Tom is a man with refined taste, SS is my favorite FE
Edit: i would love to see SS challenge run content on the channel
Sacred Stones is by far my favorite. I think Radiant Dawn is the only other one I can replay infinite times. 2 amazing games tbh.
What a coincidence, I just started playing this game last night 😂
I'm not the biggest GBAFE fan as a whole, but I still think Sacred Stones is one of the BEST games IS made post kaga era. The only other contender is Radiant dawn and Three House.
Woah, Hot take! I love this game but it seems a lot of fe content creators disagree
Hello im new to your channel i never played fire emblem but it looks good probably would be part of my favorites if i played it. Have you played Dragon Age origins its one of my favorites.
*Scared stones is the best Fire Emblem.
