I say: there is no "Dune part 1" and "Dune part 2". There is just DUNE with an intermission.
Speaking nothing but factssss
Agreed
this. its 1 movie with 3 year intermission. its all one book. like how some the later Harry Potter books got split up. also Messiah got green lit, look at this movie as a epilog to Dune
No, no, they are two different movies. Different release dates and registered separately in IMBD.
@@user-tt4jz3tm6t And I can't watch both with just one ticket. Guess you're right.
Dune 1 had a slow burn pace for the sake of setup. Dune 2 starts to run with its pace because the first movie was the warmup. Dune 3 (Messiah) will come down from the fast pace of part 2 and feel more like a political thriller in the aftermath of an intergalactic war.
I have faith that they will still make the 3rd one as entertaining as they can 😎
Dune 1 is fantastic but part 2 is one of the greatest films of all time
Lots of cool moments pay off from film 1 after a rewatch
Year is 10191 AG which is in years after the creation of the spacing guild… which itself is about 10000 years ahead of our time
Yea i 100% agree dune 2 was easily one of the best films ive ever seen. Ahhhh i see hopefully we make it to that year as a species 😅 Thanks for the imfo mate
It's incredible
@@ninjasites It is indeed 10/10.
About 20000 🫣
About 20.000 years. It can be more, though. But less than 30.000 years. But not 10.000. I wish movies explained this better. However, Warner Bros's bonus content about the Great Houses, the spice melange and Bene Gesserit explains it. They are good short videos voiced by Part 1 and Part 2's editor Joe Walker. I wish the movies gave the same amount of info which these videos are doing now.
Not just 1 new language for the movies, there’s 3. The fremen language, the Harkonnen language, and the sardaukar. Pretty crazy
Yea that's pretty wild actually
"I wont spoil it for you... so anyway they come in riding on three huge fookin' worms...."
it was in the trailer so it's fine
Going to see Dune 2 at IMAX for the 3rd time tomorrow.
Love itttttt I went to see it in imax for my second watch and I was not disappointed
Watched it 5 times in IMAX, and the last time was with my father that already saw it but standard format.
When we left the movie theater, he told me "I saw another movie".
That's how it should be seen.@@therealexo1215
So I wanted to have a second go in IMAX just to discover that those crazy mongrels removed the movie from IMAX in my city. Damn :(((
@@froggerus2 It may be back. And if we are lucky, it will be coming back to Imax as a double feature with Dune Part One.
@@BigMike246 Yes, I will wait for this indeed! :D
I kinda hope they do the next 5 books, I’d love to see the craziness of the later books on the big screen! Also part 2 made more than part 1, meaning messiah is most likely becoming a movie
From what I've heard they're apparently just doing 3 main movies. I'm not sure about other side projects or anything like that but from what my mate (who's a huge dune fan) has told me, they're supposed to be doing only 3 parts. BUT They might see the success of the movies and then do the other books aswell we never know
@@therealexo1215 yeah! I’m sure if the next movies make plenty of money they’ll make the later books, they are just taking it one step at a time as it’s a lot safer.
@@rustyshackleford234 the 3rd movie will 100% do better than the first 2. The lead up front part 2 was too hype for it to flop
God emperor would be INSANELY complex. Honestly I think it would lose a lot of people. Most of the book happens inside Leto II’s head and it’s extremely psychedelic.
I hope Frank Herbert can see both movies from beyond the grave . I would think he would be impressed with this latest attempt to bring his novels to life .
Yeah I agree. I haven't read the books but I can imagine that they did the best they possibly could too adapt it faithfully
*Dune: Part 1* ran so *Dune: Part 2* could sprint.
Facts mate
This makes me want to watch DUNE now. I've heard people say the sound design, and the music being insane since it was done by the best himself Han Zimmer. I might study both the films and do a filmography on both the films.
Good luck with studying them mate because they are both complex movies 😂 but defo worth giving them a watch
sound design is reason enough to see a movie. hope you saw it by now!
I still haven't yet. I'm planning on seeing it very soon. @@TheDerpp
Dude i hope you saw it in IMAX, or still can. Because it makes a huge fucking difference.
Dune Part One & Dune Part Two in some ways feel like they not just honor the original book, but actually feel like they add things-we-didn’t-know-we-needed elements that make it so much greater.❤
How have people never heard of Dune before? It was always a popular Sci-fi that inspired so much other stuff. It's honestly bizzare to me.
Idk I guess it didn’t have the same cultural prevalence that it does now before the movies came out. It was absolutely popular, best seller yk, just didn’t reach the Joe Schmoes like Star Wars.
May Shaid Hulud guide your steps young puppy
Thank you good sir 💯🔥
Denis Villeneuve is my favourite director! glad you gave the movies a chance in the end! ^_^
Yea he is incredible ive been watching some interviews and other stuff with him and he has a great mind. Im glad i gave them a chance too 10/10 experience.
Now *that's* a review!! Loved the passion here!
I'm glad you enjoyed it mate. I absolutely love the show so I get excited when talking about it
Dune isn't the first time a new language was made for a story/movie.
Maybe not but it's still impressive
@@therealexo1215 maybe no? ever heard of LotR?🤦♂
@@Defender90210 I never said it was the only one. I just said its sick that they did it
one of the few films where reading the book improves the movie.
Oh yea? Might have to give it a read in that case
As a long time fan of the books and I liked the first one I was afraid it was getting overhyped. To the people that comment that they show too much in the trailer….That a fraction of what’s in the film. Blew the roof off my expectations.
Well I'm happy to hear that it did not disappoint 💯💯🔥
Interesting the point of about Austin Butler, this does seem like the one adaptation that makes Feyd the real threat as opposed to Rabban, which I liked when coming to the climax. You really want Paul to be on the edge of his abilities at that point. I did like Sting being unhinged and conniving though, it really worked on me when I was a kid.
I never seen the other adaptations but I agree with your other points. Austin butler just killed his performance. He was just menacing enough to make you worry for Paul, but not too much that it makes him cringey
Dune part 1 &2 may be from 1 book. Labeling the movies "parts 1,2,3 etc gives the director way more room to work. Part of what hurt the 84 adaptation was that they had to shove this whole story into 1 2 hour movie. Now that part 3 has been greenlit. The director now gotta make a significantly shorter story into a full length movie.....in which he has some cut material from pt1 he can still use for the next movie as well as dip into the 3rd book.
I have faith that he will manage to pull it off. He seems very passionate about the story and about sticking to the original authors vision. So I'm excited to see what you does 😍😍
I agree with you! It's a masterpiece, i wish i could watch it again in IMAX for the 3rd time. Can't get it out of my head 😅
Yeah it lingers in the brain quite a bit I can't stop thinking about it myself 😂 I thought if I get all the thoughts out onto a video then I'd be grand but nope 😂😂
LOL wait until you find out why they dont use AI
I know about the war against the ai but I don't know the full details. You've got me intrigued now 👁👁
@@therealexo1215yeah... Brian's work isn't quite as great as his dad's. The AI war isn't something that Frank wrote about and his son's books are considered fanfiction by some.
@@Johnston212 wait wait wait. His son wrote books about his father's books? This is getting interesting now
@@therealexo1215 yes, Frank Herbert wrote 6 core books. He died before writing the final novel and his son apparently claims to have found notes, but he doesn't seem to know where they are anymore. He cowrites them with another author which seems to have a contested career with some people.
Overall, I have heard that he isn't quite as skilled as his dad and it shows...a LOT.
@@Johnston212 oh damn that's interesting I never heard about that. I guess creative minds are not genetic
Wow, you're going to have your mind blown when you find out this is based on a book
I'm know it'd based on a book
Please do more zoomcuts in your videos. There's not enough.
Noted 📝
Dune 2 is a good movie and follow up first one IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS
Ah but an adaptation will never match your own imagination so it's hard to compare them
So do we need to avoid the books so we can enjoy the movies?
@@animula6908not necessarily, but it does depend on your take away from the book. I don't know if he does a decent job of explaining that the religion is a complete work of fiction, which is one of the more interesting points to me.
It's a cinematic experience for sure, but not one I intend on seeing
@@animula6908 go to movies then read the books and you'll understand
man I just dont agree with people saying this, I absolutely loved the books, and I adored this movie, it was so true to the books and my vision of what I saw when reading them that I just cant see why anyone thinks, 1 the book is better than the film, which doesn't make sense as they are two entirely different mediums, and 2 that the film hasn't done an incredible, if not the best possible job of adapting the material in the book, the trip scenes i guess are not as trippy as in the book but it doesn't really matter, the movie was incredible and an exceptional interpretation of the book
Chakobsa. The Fremen language is called Chakobsa.
Ah thanks for letting me know
(comment edited, someone pointed out I got wrong information about Fremen language) I thought that Chakobsa was not the fremen language in the books, but was the Atreides slang used by their army so the enemy cannot understand them. However I was wrong. But Atreides battle language does also exist, at least in the books.
(checks in the books) Ooops, you're right! My bad. Comment edited.
@@Tiisiphone - I think the confusion may lie in what's in Frank Herberts's original 6 books and the newer ones that his son wrote. I've only read the first one of the new books. Brian Herbert may have expanded on the Chakobsa language and who uses it.
Your brain is also clearly not attuned to contemplate anything that it hasn't thought about before.
Go read a book.
Specifically, Dune.
I usually pride myself on my creative writing skills. This is just next level though. I do want to read more though so maybe i will start with dune.
3:35 - 3:59
Dune 3 there is mostly talking will be hard to compete with 2
Ah damn we will have to see. I have faith that they will do a great job tho regardless 💯
Messiah as a book is amazing its mostly there for people that didnt get PAUL IS NOT THE HERO.
what i if told you Paul is the bad guy.....
Yeah I've already heard that the writer didn't like when people saw him as the good guy. From what I've heard I can imagine that he isn't the hero people think he will be
@@therealexo1215 Well, he is no more of a bad guy I guess than any other great leader like Napoleon or Genghis Khan - having blood on hands etc. For ones they are heroes, for others worst monsters - that's the way it always is in the world probably...
