Restoration at Barton Court Estate trout fishery

2018 marks the beginning of a restoration project of the river at Barton Court Estate. Max Gallagher and his team are working hard to create a habitat that promotes a healthy head of wild trout, as well as creating a diverse and varied fishery for anglers.

I was lucky enough to fish the Barton Court Estate’s chalk streams a few years ago for a birthday treat and despite the “unseasonable” downpour on the day I managed to catch a beautiful 2lb brownie on a dry fly. I also had a great chat with Nick who pointed out I had been casting to a shoal of chub and not the target species for about an hour ….very tactfully! Keep up the amazing work …hopefully I will be back.🎣
