To enlarge the holes for the ropes you could use drill bits instead of a screwdriver or hole punch. The drill bits would definitely come in the exact size you need for all 3 types of laces.
Will the screw driver work with 8 mm?
if you wanna know the exact brand of rope he used it's cora's cotton craft cord natural color. Spent 40+ dollars trying to find the exact ropes through trial and error but at least now y'all dont have to as well 🤣 Edit: it’s in the description now

I was the one who thought of that 🤣 I used rope because I had no shoelaces coming out of the jail and stopped at Home Depot because that was the only thing open (i was basically homeless) so used rope (my grandpa showed me when I was little because my shoelaces were cut in half).. Everyone thought it was badass especially on the boots I had and alot of people took pictures. This happened back almost 8 years ago, when I was basically homeless. I didn't personally think it was that cool because, I was taught to use it in need, not for style..
I had no idea that it would get popular, At best I thought the people who took pictures might copy me but I had no idea alot of people would like it.
I also had rope belts that alot of people like. (Even though I had to use rope because I couldn't afford a belt)

you could try just using super glue but its never gonna be as strong as laces with heat shrink or metal tips
