      @gjaegreag its not untrue propaganda when you are living it and there has always been the same problem - the poorest dont have access to that supply and from cradle to grave they face so much in the way of knockbacks, adversity, barriers that they never will access that supply.
      One thing the conservative party never grasps is that being able to work is a privilege that requires sufficiently robust health and sufficient free time without care duties.
      The Conservative party has always actively torn down measures to address those barriers - Surestart for example, local authority social care funding, NHS funding, further education funding, investment in schools, dentistry even. The sick stay sick. There isnt the social care. Mental health services become inadequate. NHS waiting lists lengthen. The sick get sicker. The sick then require carers. The breadwinner has to stop working to provide care. It escalates and escalates because there isnt the investment in the barriers that the poor face.
      They have plunged the children of the most vulnerable families into a state of hunger and cold, and anxious home life. How are those children meant to reach their potentials in school?
      And the poverty isnt a myth. It isnt a spin. I have connections with local foodbanks and live in a deprived neighbourhood. The poverty and suffering is real and horrendous.
      I personally cannot access the treatment I need to regain my health. This week I couldnt buy food and I am sitting here in chronic pain because I cannot put my heating on - and I do budget. I dont drink, I dont smoke, i dont go out ever, i dont own a car, I dont take holidays, I just have an old second hand TV, i dont have a computer (just this phone)- its literally the case that bills are too high. If the NHS did fund/offer the treatment I need - if the social care existed for me to get the support I need, if the council could afford to treat the black mold abd rotting walls I live with, I could be out there working. I have 2 science degrees in evolutionary neuroscience!
      Please do not tell people the economic inequality is a myth when people are literally living it.
      I am writing for survival but its damn hard.

      That's not really true. Growth means increase in economic output, usually over a course of a year. How the excess is distributed is determines who benefits. What has been happening a lot in the US and the UK to a lesser extent is that the economy has been growing, but wages have been stable or only growing a little bit. This means that whoever got the benefits, it wasn't the salariat. But there exists growth that actually benefits the majority.

    • @AogNubJoshh
      @AogNubJoshh Рік тому +1

      So the growth we have experienced since the Middle Ages hasn’t benefitted the poor?
      No doubt, growth has the potential to improve living standards of the poor. It’s up to policy makers to make sure that wealth is appropriately redistributed, but raised living standards for the poor is not incompatible with growth. If it were, we would all be peasant farmers.
